Emptied my book jar into the Coinstar today and ended up with $36 and change to spend on Amazon. I got a little carried away and spent a bit more, but not TOO much. Got all of these for my kindle:
The Hunger Games + sequels (no, I have not read them yet, nor seen the movie - excited to finally get into them)
Mechanique: A Tale of the Circus Tresaulti
Eon: Dragoneye Reborn
and out of genre Yes, Chef: A Memoir
I also have a very generous friend who, upon my expressing an interest in the Sookie Stackhouse books, promptly boxed up her copies and mailed them to me! I haven't seen the show True Blood that's based on them (don't have HBO) but I've heard from fans of the books that it didn't translate well, though other viewers seem to like it well enough.

I have them on my iPad and have not read them, or seen the movie, either. But they are not high on my list right now.
I spent a couple hours at Half Price books yesterday--will try to post some of my purchases later, although a fair number were out of genre that my husband picked out. I was feeling jealous of my friends who are in Portland and were at Powell's City of Books last night. Powells was the first used book store I had ever visited--we were on a driving trip from the midwest to the Pacific northwest--and I ended up with 2 grocery bags stuffed full of books, including some entire series (like Jennifer Roberson's Cheysuli series).

Yes, years ago, shortly after we returned home from that trip, if I recall. And, although my memory of them is not great, I do remember that I really, really liked them, and Roberson's writing.

I just got notified that I won a FirstReads giveaway for a copy of the new trade paperback of The Eye of the World. I read it years ago and made it through the first seven books of the series before I lost interest, but I've always been kind of curious where it went, so maybe this will give me the kick in the pants to dive in again now that the series has an endpoint.

I was very disappointed by this one. I've been a fan of Brin since his earliest Uplift books, but I feel that he's been in need of some serious, heavy-handed editing in his later works.

I"m reading the series with the Fantasy Series book group here at GoodReads, although I'm more than a book behind. I'm on Shadow Rising. Never read any of them before, so it's been fun. So far, I'm enjoying them.

I also sent for the first couple of the old Destroyer series. I'd read at least one years ago. They ran that old "B movie" (and "B" may be generous) and decided I wanted to do some nostalgia reading.

Yeah I read them all. Startide Rising is still one of my all time favorite books.
Actually one of the reasons I picked this up was cause the blurb mentioned Dolphins. The whole space garbage man thing turned me off but Dolphins...yeah

The Gentlemen Bastards series (The Lies of Locke Lamora, Red Seas Under Red Skies) - Oceans 11 meets Robin Hood, highly recommend them.
The Demon Wars series (The Warded Man, The Desert Spear) - Society lives behind barriers afraid to go out at night for fear of being killing by Corelings (demons from the Earth's core). Several people decide that living like that isn't living, and venture to find the lost ways to kill the demons.
Good Omens - A great laugh, and great writing from Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
American Gods - A very polarizing book. Everyone I know who reads this either loves it or hates it (I fall into the former)
Anansi Boys - More Gaiman. I was on a kick.
More as I read more. Been through 20 books since March, and don't seem to be slowing down. Happy reading, everyone.

Hi Sam,
No Twitter here. I follow Goodreads and am on Facebook. That (and my email) are about all I can handle. :)

I love out of print hunting. Gives me a reason to go to a bookstore.

And I spend far too much time here, LOL.
