Read two short stories over the weekend, The Fact of the Matter by Madeleine L’Engle and Youth by Isaac Asimov, then a nonfiction book, The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion.

ChrisQ | 4 comments I am currently reading September by Rosamunde Pilcher by Rosamunde Pilcher. Though it's not a cozy mystery, it definitely reads cozy as a story. I always enjoy picking it up.

For a walking challenge, I am listening to Eight Perfect Murders (Malcolm Kershaw, #1) by Peter Swanson by Peter Swanson on audio. Only allowed to listen to it when exercising. It's working.

Lili (liannavonfurstenberg) | 6 comments this is a series of childrens books written between the 20's-60's in UK, however the humour is so good that adults appreciate them. Just William I've been almost crying with laughter re reading them, the perfect antidote to everything that is going on now. They also provide a snapshot of life through the decades for a British middle class family, the main character, William, is always 11 years old although the time setting is always relevant to when the particular book was written. If any of you have read these, let me know what you think.

Lili— Can honestly say I have never heard of those books or the author, but sounds like you are enjoying them.

Currently reading The Spy Who Came In from the Cold by John le Carré. He’s one of those authors whose name you know but—in my case, anyway—have never read. I’ve seen it called “fast paced,” but so far I can’t say that is true. However, now being a third of the way into it, maybe it will start to pick up.

I haven't read a Rosamunde Pilcher book in about 30 years. I enjoyed reading September.

I’m about two-thirds through a reread of To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf, a classic group read for this month. I wasn’t planning to read it again, but it fits a couple challenges and isn’t very long. Good, but I had forgotten how tedious her stream-of-consciousness writing style with page-long paragraphs can be to slog through.
