Read
yesterday. Oh and I've been reading
since mid-March! Woohoo it counts! lol. I was hoping I would've been done it before April. Not even close.

(on page 386)
I had to massively slim down my "To Read" list. lol. I have Wife Between Us from Overdrive and the other 2 are ARCs due by the beginning of May. And I'm on page 386 of The Stand but I've been reading it every day now! I've read almost 150 pages in 2 days and I've decided it's coming with me on vacation on Thursday. I have 2 other Overdrive books that aren't for this 'thon as well. Agghhhh. lol.
My Overdrive hold just came in for The Shining which will be a re-read because my GR group is reading
next month. I own The Shining on paperback but I could barely read it the first time, the font is too small and the pages are yellowed and kind of smudgy.

Great reading, Elyse! I need to start Doctor Sleep before the movie comes out, but I know I can't read it in a month. Is that how long your group read-along is...one month?

I wasn't planning to read this for the Horror readathon, but I finished Robert Bloch's Psycho this evening. I read it for 1950s period research, related to a separate project. It is clever, at times well written, but consistently a bit less gripping than the Hitchcock film. All of the ideas are here and clearly come from Bloch, but the characters are a bit seedier and less empathic in the book.

I agree. I really liked the book, but it was one of those rare times when I actually thought the movie was better.

I loved it! Did not care for Psycho II as much and really disliked Psycho House. Many years passed between each one being written.

That is impressive, Mallory!
Just finished
Recommended. Creepy, scary, and hard to put down. Finishing up
(I am loving it) About to start
. I guess I'm on a creepy kid kick right now. Any recommendations?
Finished Dracula this evening. I loved it this time around. Van Helsing definitely veers toward didactic at points, but there is so much thematic, ground-breaking stuff in this book, so much I missed when I read it twenty years ago... It is truly a must-read genre book, straddling horror, gothic fiction, fantasy, and even steampunk sci-fi. I will post my full review for the book tomorrow.
Finally picked up listening to
again, now that I'm back from vacation. I should be finishing it tonight or tomorrow. I read 215 pages of
in the past 2 days, woot! lol. Just over halfway through. I am DETERMINED to finish it by April 30! I ended up buying the e-book so I could always be reading it, plus the MMP is hard to read.
I'm way behind on updates in here. Haven't gotten as many books read as I'd have liked this month. Busy work schedule and I was working on some longer books than I typically have on my currently reading list. Anyhow, I haven't actually read any horror this month, but everything this month has been dark fantasy, gothic fantasy, romantic suspense. My finished reads to date:

Finished listening to
last night. Enjoyed it. I liked the movie more for some reasons and the book more for other reasons. Started listening to
this morning, it will be my last audiobook of the month and the readathon since it's 21 hours long!
My finished reads for April: Ebooks: Ravenous, Little Darlings, The Mere Wife, Lying Next to Me
Audiobooks: The Burn Journals, The Poppet, Grendel's Lair, The Old North Road, Brave
Currently Reading:

Finished Haunting at Hill House The Haunting of Hill House today. It was a muddling book, with an oddly incomplete feel, but certainly a great source of inspiration for the genre. I am up to 4 completed books for the Readathon now, with one more possibly to go before the end of the month.

Currently at 22 . With my upcoming move imminent I cant count on adding to that #....I do need your expertise Michelle in getting my info added to wrapup and giveaway as discussed.. Huge appreciation 🏆
I'm in the home stretch of
! About 250 pages left! I will definitely finish by tomorrow night.I'm almost halfway through listening to
so I'm confident I will finish that by tomorrow night as well.

Great book!
Finished 'Salem's Lot this evening. It wasn't bad, but I found it disappointing. It was a very odd mash up of effusive bursts of literary language, cheesy pulp, bloatedness, and underdevelopment. It felt like the sophomore effort that it was. Ah well. I am pleased to have read it. That marks five horror stories for me this month, and three classics. Thanks for the inspiration!
You guys have really rocked it! Sorry I've been MIA the latter part of the month. I was reading! lol I read SIX books in April. That's an accomplishment for me. :-)
Wrap-up link is in the top post of this thread. Thanks for joining us! Hope to see you for SciFiJune next month.

Anyhow, I haven't actually read any horror this month, but everything this month has been dark fantasy, gothic fantasy, romantic suspense. I just have a hard time reading horror this time of year when everything is so gorgeous outside with spring waking up the world around me. I want to read lighter, more relaxing books this time of year, like fun cozies, quirky small town contemporary romance, romantic comedy
