I'm still trying to decide on my "scary" book. Plus I'm on the wait list for a few library books that I know are probably going to come in within a few days of each other.

Neat! I had no idea there’s an audiobook! I have heard many good things about the series so I have decided to give it a try.

I've been reading Jonathan Stroud's Lockwood & Co. series, and will be finishing up The Hollow Boy soon. After that, I plan to read Dracula (which I have never actually finished before), and a Stephen King novel, possibly Salem's Lot.

Finished The Hollow Boy this morning, in a gray day insomnia rush...For anyone looking for a light but amusing, modern Y/A-style fantasy horror series, Stroud's Lockwood & Co. books are really a lot of fun. It's kind of a teenage ghostbusters-in-London world in which the hauntings have mysteries behind them that the characters have to unravel and there are always tensions with the living as well as the dead.
Stroud has a gift for world building, and he writes snarky, amusing characters with great verve. Nothing too heavy or thought-provoking in this series, but they're good for amusement and diversion.

The always generous Erin Sweet-Al Mehairi, and Raw Dog Screaming Press, are offering Spring into Horror participants an e-book copy of Hounds of the Underworld by Lee Murray and Dan Rabarts, which is the first in their series and though it has horror elements, it does have a mainstream feel and reads like a mystery or crime novel.
Please email Erin at hookofabook@hotmail.com if you're interested in receiving a copy.
