R18: Team #15 ~ Better Read than Dead

I’m a Capricorn too 😁 I’ve yet to read any Dresden. I saw the show but hubby’s current and frustrated about the delay in book release. I know what ya mean tho about others not living up to a favorite and/or falling short when compared. I’m usually able to take each on its own but sometimes it’s hard not comparing to others more beloved.

😩

Hope you’re feeling better soon! I 💕 Charley! And Cookie! And Reyes! Damn, I love the whole gang! 😆

Deadly Forecast by Victoria Laurie
Series: Psychic Eye Mysteries #11
Shelf: psychic abilities (shelved by 2 people)
Read: 27 Apr
Rating: ✮✮✮½
Review:
After almost four years, Abby and Dutch are making it official and heading to the alter. Or are they? Deadly Forecast describes more than just the wedding day weather forecast. There's a bomber on the loose and the couple, together with the FBI and Abby's BBF Candice, are working hard to follow any clue that will lead to his/her arrest. The clues are few and far between, nothing much is making sense ... to anyone but the reader. While I didn't guess the mastermind, the intentions were clear to me.
“As a psychic forecaster, my dominant sixth sense is clairvoyance, which simply means that in my mind’s eye I “see” images that allow me to predict the future.”Another thing that was clear - why can't Abby, as a psychic forecaster, “see” more? This has always baffled me, but a bit more so in this installment. Moreover, Abby still hasn't learned to discuss her fears and concerns with her mate. Why? I've no idea and it's infuriating. When it comes to Abby, Dutch is beyond understanding, accommodating and loving.
In this installment, I met M.J. (psychic medium) and Gilley, best friends who share a ghostbusting business, the Ghoul Getters. I knew they sounded familiar and later realized they feature in another of Laurie's series Ghost Hunter Mysteries. I have a few of them and will have to check them out next as I enjoyed them both. I also spotted Coached to Death, which I'm guessing is a spin-off featuring Abby's sister Cat.
As frustrating as I find Abby at times, I enjoy this series. Each installment is a quick read with a mystery to solve. I've enjoyed getting to know these characters better and still believe Abby will one day, finally accept the unconditional support her mate offers her and learn the benefits of open communication. She'd certainly save herself some physical pain if she did.

Review: I actually really enjoyed this. I kept hearing about this series and I'm glad I decided to start it. I loved Sascha. I connected with her a lot because I could see myself reacting to things the way she did. I'm up in the air about Lucas. He wasn't bad but I found the surrounding characters in his pack more interesting then him. Especially Tamsyn. I think that is what stopped this from becoming a 4 star because I just did not really click with the male love interest. He wasn't bad or anything. I just felt meh about him. I will continue with the series though.

Thanks :)
Glad you enjoyed the start to Psy-Changelings, Jothany!

Review: I loved this one! All of the nit-picky things that I called out in book 1, were addressed in book 2. (view spoiler) Also, I am finally fully Team Rogan. So, yay me! for being late to the party!
I loved that the "bad guy" was more complex and multi-layered this time around. The ferret heist was one of the highlights in my opinion. And I am totally hiding under the covers from Victoria Tremaine. Can't wait to read the next one!!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

What is this nonsense no I do not accept it I already see what is going to happen between Eric and Sookie and I just do not accept it. He better get his act together. I am glad she found out now though if this is the way he is going to act. I am still anti- Bill I fell I will always be that way, I don't care how nice he is to Sookie or if he ends up saving her a hundred billion times I just don't like him. I am still waiting for her to learn about her Faery heritage which you would think since she was living with some she would ask those questions, though they have their own agenda as well. So you never know with them and now she has this box that can grant her a wish. I wonder what she will use it on. I hope Sam and his bar makes it through these tough times. All in all of course it was good I just didn't like it as much as the others in the series so far.

Glad you enjoyed that one, Melissa, I loved it too!
I was never a fan of Bill either, Rocki. 😝

For Series shelf I will be reading

Oh, you're definitely not alone. He bothered me in the books and I didn't like him any better when I watched the show.
New shelf, ladies!

Oh and Melissa, I'm glad your team Rogan lol and yes Victoria is a scary lady. All I have left to read is the novella until the new book comes out later this year if I remember correctly.

I noticed that as well. Close game!
And, I spotted Lis' post on another team ....

Review: OMG!! Definitely glad I kept going with this series. So much happened and I love how all the characters came together and used their individual talents and strengths. Raphael reminds me of Bug from Hidden Legacy (I love them both) and I love little Julie. Andrea is growing on me and I'm hoping what I want to happen happens or I will be upset!!
DEREK!!! His whole story during this book hurt me. I love that kid and he had me feeling all kinds of emotions that I wasn't ready for. I wanted to fight Jim (still do lol) he is just so irritating but in a good way lol
Curran....what do I say about this man lol at first I was iffy about him but now I full on love him and his antics. I love how we saw a different side of him when it came to his pack. Plus his note to Kate at the end had me laughing so hard lol definitely picking up #4 very soon (longest review so far lol)

YAY Jothany! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed it and will continue on. That one is a heartbreaker of a storyline (Derek). Each time I reread it still hits me hard.

Wicked Burn by Rebecca Zanetti
Shelf: series (shelved by 22 people)
Read: 4 May
Rating: ✮✮✮✮✮
Review:
Wicked Burn tells the story of Nicholai Veis, the strategic leader of the entire demon nation and Simone Brightston, a member of the Coven Nine, the ruling body of the witches. Their story is a sad one with a very deserving HEA. The book begins a century earlier when the course of Nick's life is diverted by a plea from one of the Prophets. Instead of claiming his mate, he sacrifices his plan, his love and devotes his life to a path that will hopefully save the immortal world as a whole.
“I let you go because I had no choice and figured I wouldn’t live to see peace. Yet I have, you’re unattached for a reason, and now, your time of freedom is up.”I'd been interested in learning more about Simone and her relationship with Nick since she was first introduced (possibly as early as Dark Protectors book 3, Hunted). It was obvious there was a lot of history between them, strong feelings, for sure. Simone's heart was broken all those years ago, so it's understandable that when Nick returns to her she's hesitant and won't risk being vulnerable yet again. He's quick to set the record straight and make his intentions clear.
“I want everything, Simone. And this time, I’m going to keep it.”One of the things I loved most about this couple's story is that Nick, while insistent, is understanding of Simone's hesitancy and is completely and openly honest with her about his reason for leaving her a century earlier, how that impacted him and his feelings now. Loved it! There was a lot to love in this installment. Aside from the pairing, Simone's heading to a fight-for-your-life trial and familial revelations abound.
“Everything I am or will ever be belongs solely to you.”

Review: I'm just gonna say this right off the bat. If (view spoiler) is freaking Caesar, I am going to throw whichever book finally reveals his secret identity across the room. Caesar better be somebody we haven't met yet. Somebody who is so nefarious and living in the shadows that we can't possibly know him. Since we're moving on to Catalina's story next, maybe he can be Count Kissy Face's dad. But NOT who I think that epilogue was trying to make me think it is. I didn’t even think about that person being Caesar. My mind instantly went to (view spoiler) because of the line about being bored. They also said it earlier in the book during the hospital scene["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

A good start! My husband has been wanting me to start this series for a long time so it is about time. I am glad I got to it. Only thing is I wish we knew more about what was going on. They are on the run and even through they are on the run they are very innocent in the world. That will happen when you were taken from a baby till now in captivity and barely given the basics. Because of that I worry for Angel I see her being turned evil not because she wants to but because she is manipulated that way. Of course I love Fang he's quiet and brooding who doesn't like a good silent brooding type. For a good amount of novel I felt like i wasn't given enough information. Now to watch the movie that everyone seemed to hate. I have to see why this is such a low rated film.

Review:
Omg I am so mad at myself for waiting on this book! I waited because I thought Charlie would change since she didn't remember herself. I thought it would read differently but noooo it was still all her it made me think of the earlier books when she was still so new to her powers. I am worried for Reyes in the future and for Charlie of course. I hope they make it through the battles to come. At first I was wondering why they were letting her find her way because everyone was there for her Cookie, Bob, Reyes, Angel, and some others. I still don't really know why they didn't push her to learn who she is. I know they were worried about pushing her since she had to give up something that traumatized her and they were letting her find her way but still. I feel like she had a lot of anxiety with out anyone to really help her.
