Shelf: Next In Series

Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card
How Does It Fit: Shelved 20 times as next-in-series

Review: I don't know why this series reads so slowly for me. I enjoyed it very much, a more complex and interesting story than Ender's Game, which although great, was a bit more one-note to me. Excellent themes of humanity and religion, difficult relationships, secrets, mysteries and lies. Definitely recommended.

Kindle Freebie
Doesn't appear to be a winning shelf for anyone.
If paranormal erotica gets called its going to be a race with multiple teams.

Requested our Series stamp.
We still need:
Psychic Abilities: Carrie
Next in Series: Skandia
Kindle Freebie (all of course)
Doing good team.

I'll be reading Eternity by Maggie Shayne for Kindle Freebie - shelved 14 times - 352 pages.

I can't stop gushing about this series. Second book was as good as the first. Even better as I knew the world and main characters already.
I think Dina with her Gertrude Hunt Inn must be my all time favorite paranormal characters. Yes, it's a magic house and what a character it is! To host an intergalactic peace summit between three very different and bloodthirsty clans of aliens without serious incidents, you would have to be the best magic house.
Also her owner Dina is just brilliant. Resourceful, clever and she never gives up. Her ability to solve the most hopeless situations is just absolutely kick-ass!

Review: A fairly typical PR. The love is insta-love. And (literally) eternal. :) The ending was quite interesting though and bodes well for the next book in the series, so I will probably eventually continue.

I think there's a good shot that a winning shelf will be called this week. 8 out of the 11 shelves left are winners for at least one team.
Winning shelves:
Auto Buy
2018 reads
vampires
paranormal erotica (multiple teams including us)
strong female
UF
Paranormal Detectives
Series to finish
Of course that doesn't mean that the game will be won if a winner is called: they may not finish.
I have a paranormal erotica book fired up and ready to go. I wish the call came much earlier in the day. It comes after 7pm my time and I'm not a night owl. I also take aqua zumba on Wed nights but I will check the shelf call from my phone.

Good Job!! :D

I'll check my phone while at the gym tonight. If paranormal erotica is called, I'll skip the steam room and hot tub and come home earlier so I can at least get some read. Not a fan of listening to an erotica book while getting ready for work in the morning. But I can make the sacrifice. I checked out both the audio and ebook version.

This was an entertaining little book. I like the world building and the idea of Nocturne Falls. Enjoyed the characters and the banter and such. Great if you are in the mood for a lite-hearted read. I wouldn't have minded it being spicier because there's nothing more than a kiss and mention of sex in this.

This book was very popular some years ago.
I don't understand why. A story of 20 years old alcoholic and sex addict's dysfunctional relationship was not at all romantic but cringey and totally unattractive. Poor little rich kids.

We just need one more Psychic Abilities review and 2 kindle freebie reviews and we are all caught up.

I was so poised for Paranormal Erotica that I didn't have anything else picked out. So far all the books on the list are super long. I'll pick something out tomorrow. Have a good night all.

Too tired to pick one tonight.

I'll have this read before next shelf call and I'll make sure be all updated with any pending stamps requested etc..,

Of course the paranormal erotica book I had lined up is a dragon themed one. Time to choose one of the bazillion vampire erotica books to have lined up instead.

this one is still free on Kindle and Audible Romance if anyone is interested, fits both paranormal erotica and vampires. Also only 200 pages.

Review: The dream team that is Ilona Andrews have done it again..
/bravo
Ok so first of all, boy am I ever grateful that book 3 is on hold and it tells me I have about 2 weeks to wait because yea this series is that good.
Second of all I'm sorry I doubted, I'm sorry I worried that this book wasn't going to live up to book 1, it has and more. I loved it. Slow starting at first for me, but that good have been me, I think it was me.
There was soo many cute moments in this book. The ferrets and Matilda asking Rogan to hold Bunny while she cleaned his eyes.
And I am interested to see more of Nevada's family and what those sisters can do.

Can't even remember how many times this series has been recommended to me but as I wasn't the biggest fan of Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs, I haven't picked it up yet. I guess now is a good time finally to start.

Review: This book was a bit more YA than the first two. More boys, less spying. Still an okay series with interesting characters. Way too much "I can't tell you this secret for your own good" nonsense, but a cute story.

No One to Trust by Katie Reus
Read: May 28th
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: Elizabeth has been looking out for her brother Benny ever since he protected her as young teenager. His life has just gone down hill, from gambling to drugs, and when ever he needs help it's Lizzy he turns to, except this time they both might be in over their heads. The man he owes money to wants Elizabeth to be his for 6 months, Porter her ex and fellow work mate comes to her rescue and the action takes off from there.
We have car cases, guns, rocket launchers and sparks that still fly between Elizabeth and Porter. No One to Trust by Katie Reus is a quick and steamy ride

A highly entertaining read that introduces us to the vast Bridgerton clan. I read Hyacinth's story awhile back and figured I'd go back and read the series from the beginning. Julie Quinn is fairly a fairly predictable author but usually entertaining and sometimes I want predictable and entertaining. I found Simon a bit annoying not enough to deter too much from my enjoyment. Daphne's ignorance of where babies come from was a little unbelievable even considering the time frame. But maybe many mother's were like hers and too embarrassed to explain it to their daughters.

Urban Fantasy. Gives us another potential winning shelf (paranormal detective) if none of the 4 teams wins this week. But that would really surprise me. But I'll probably read one for it anyway because I happen to have a couple of UF books lined up anyway.
Keep posting your reviews just in case. I'll keep requesting shelves. I was too busy at work today to finish updating and do our shelf requests. I'll try to do it tomorrow.

I already requested our Next in Series and Psychic Abilities stamps. I think the only outstanding ones are the Favorite Series and UF.

Book: Dead Beat by Jim Butcher
Read: May 15
Rating: 4 stars
Review: So far this has been the most enjoyable of the series. Harry is ssssssllllooooowwwllyyy becoming someone who doesn't lead with is "staff".... BUT still has LONG LONG way to go from being a creep. I await the day where Mr. Butcher doesn't write Harry thinking something sexual or some thought on some woman's body. But I won't hold my breath, I like living. People can say but it's been awhile for him, I'm sorry when he was Susan he was just as bad.
We have a lot of action going on in this book, I feel like Harry is getting himself into one bind or another all the time. Honestly I'm surprised he's in as good shape he is in.
Also,
"Polka will never die, polka will never die!" You go Butters....
