That definitely is useful for spell-outs!

But it is safe to say that it's going to be a continuation of either one of the following series:
- The Morganville Vampires
- Psy-Changeling
- Black Dagger Brotherhood

Review: interesting first book into this world where Peter Grant Is learning he has powers he had no idea about. As always we meets lots of characters and lots of world building going on. Have to say reading instead of listening may have been better. Had a hard time with the accents.

Review: This was a really solid start to the series. The actual ghost hunting felt a little underdeveloped, but that's easy to forgive since the purpose of this seemed more to establish Cass's powers and the rules of the Veil. I liked the relationship with her parents, and I enjoyed Lara's character. I hope she shows up in future books, which I'll definitely be picking up when they're out.

I started Forsaken which has been sitting on my shelf for so many years already, and now I'm wondering why I waited so long because so far I'm enjoying it and the writing flows well.

And now that I've gotten all my other books out of the way, I can concentrate on catching up here. I should really know better than to try and "plan" reads (one of the many reasons why I should stay away from BOMs). Oh well :-)
Hows the reading going for you?

Review: This is book 6 in the Eldritch Files series. Someone is killed and Sam has been framed for the murder. Sam's Air Elemental is stolen from her, weakening her. There is a traitor close to the gang. Someone from Crwys' past has come back to cause havoc. Lots of betrayal in this one, which left me confused for a while until I figured it out. Looking forward to seeing what happens after the finale of this book.

Review: I've always loved books about "scary" fairies, especially in modern urban settings. Kaye's situation with her mother fits well into the backdrop of the plot, if that makes sense, and her transformation from a kind of silly girl into her cleverer self at the end was satisfying. I'll definitely be picking up the rest of the books at some point.

I'm going to read

I don't actually mind because this is another book I needed to read for a challenge. Since I got addicted to challenges, seems like I rarely read a book that doesn't work for at least 2 challenges. In order to avoid burnout, I created a system, though it is on hiatus while I am participating in two team bingos. I will read a book for a challenge, then a book in a series that I want to read, and then another book for a challenge. Back and forth. I do this because I started a lot of series that I really enjoyed, but it felt like forever before I got to read book 2. This way, I can read series that I am enjoying as well as books and new authors for challenges. Best of both worlds and keeps me motivated and having fun. Once my bingo games are over, I will go back to that system, but for now, my bingo books are serving as my want to read books (though I still try to make them fit other challenges), since they need to be read in a timely fashion.
According to fictfact, I have 421 ongoing series. I'm just lucky that I read fairly quickly.

It's crazy though when you think how quickly you've started a few dozen series without even realising it. "Oh, I'll try this one, and this one, and that one sounds interesting, too..." ;-)
That is a good system to have!
Not being able to read the books that I really wanted to read because they somehow never fit into the challenge requirements is why I cut way down on my challenges. Sometimes it's easier to have a task pick my next book because I can't decide which one to read but sometimes it's just really frustrating when I want to read something very specific and I just cannot fit it in. Doesn't help when you aren't that much of a speedy reader. Ah, the issues of reading challenge participants ;-)

Review - so this was way too long of a book for me. They crammed too much into a first in a series book. Lots of characters to meet and develop. Lots of world building and backstory to be told about/catch up on. Interesting, but not sure I care enough to go further into the series. Phew - I'm glad I'm done.

Review: Simon is a rebel but a very good fighter. He is hired to train Ella, a young mage who was injured in an explosion. While helping her to learn to compensate for her injuries, he discovers that there is more to her than at first glance. When Simon realizes that someone is out to get Ella, he is determined to save her. I enjoyed this book a lot. I always liked Simon in the Mageri series. He is a rebel but is good at heart. Ella has been through a lot in her short life, but hasn't given up. I think they make a good couple. It was nice to revisit this world.

This was a very interesting start into a new series that I'll definitely continue. Riley doesn't have the easiest lot in life but she's trying to make the most of it. A healthy amount of stubbornness definitely helps with that. She's feisty but certainly not flawless, and typical for her age, she tends to be a little superficial still at times though she's slowly growing into the person she's supposed to be. I liked Beck, a lot. Simon, not so much. Ori was just not there enough and he isn't giving anything away about himself, so it's hard to have a clear opinion on the guy. Harper is a bastard, though I'm beginning to think there might be a reason for it.
The world is still left a little in the dark with not every aspect of it developed in detail but the descriptions and explanations that are given are enough to give the reader a rough idea of what is what and it leaves a decent amount to the imagination.

So I should hopefully be on track by next week's shelf call. Just to let you know :-)

Review: This was a really delightful fairytale that felt like a contented sigh. I've seen the movie I don't know how many times, but this was my first time reading the book and for the vast majority of it I was not disappointed. I felt like all the characters were interesting and I love the matter-of-fact way magic gets dealt with in books like these. My only complaint (mild spoiler) is the whole narrative of Tristran learning that the woman who raised him for 18 years was not his bio mom, and immediately he no longer thought of her as "his mother" but "his father's wife". Like immediately. I know complicated family situations are hard and everyone deals with them differently, but prioritizing blood relation over other types of parenthood always rubs me the wrong way. Other than that, I loved it!

Thanks! :-)
I really disliked Stardust for some reason, though I love the movie.

I could definitely see how one my love one and hate the other. It's the same story, but the humor and climax are handled differently, I think.

You might be right about that!
Maybe I just didn't click with Gaiman's writing style, even though a lot of people enjoy it a lot. I loved Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch but I believe that's mostly due to the fact that Pratchett had his hands in this as well ;-)

Review: fun fact - I originally read this book 4 years ago in April, lol. I'm sure it was for a challenge as historical fiction is definitely not my thing, at all. That is .....until you throw in some paranormal into the mix. Then it at least has a chance. :) This was just as fun the second time around and I enjoyed the narrator, too. Recently, I've been going back and getting some of the first MM books that I read and enjoyed on audio when I see them on sale and 're - reading' them during my commute. Glad I grabbed this one.

end of May for the amazon TV show to air...... :)
I'm a leetle bit excitable about that!

Review: loved getting back into this series and hearing about all the peeps again. Nell (-Sugar) and Occam are circling each other and still recuperating after what happened to them in the last book. Nell is moving forward with plans to move "Mud', her little sister, into her home. Not as easy as she thought it would be, trying to figure out what to update, how to provide childcare and continue her job etc etc etc. You know the joys of motherhood - except she's not getting a baby she's getting a teenager, lol. Weird happenings with Rick being 'called' to witch circles and then they find out outsider vamps are in the territory as well. Lots of goings on in this one. Love the narration of Khristine Hvam. She makes these books for me. I'm feeling a need to re listen to all my Jane Yellowrock and then re listen to this series all in order.

Review
The overall plot is moving along pretty fast in terms of Psy-Net, infection and empaths. There was a lot that wasn't fully fleshed out, not that it needed to be though. It left room for reflection on the reader's part. Ivy Jane was a driving force for the plot and I liked the way she and Vasic grew closer without there ever being any doubt about the fact that they belonged together no matter what was going on in their respective lives.
After having caught glimpses of Vasic throughout the previous books, it was nice to finally see him get his due and have a book of his own, to have him realise that his dark past wasn't always quite as dark as he painted it. And the man has such a dry sense of humour, it's great.
