WEEK 3
SPOT #22
#2 In series
Be with Me (Wait for You, #2) by J. Lynn

Finished 15th Sept
Rating ☆☆☆☆

Review

I really liked this book but not as much as the 1st one.
This story is about Tess and Jase (Cam's little sister and best friend from book 1)
After injuring her leg seriously in an accident Tess can no longer dance, so she decides she will be a teacher.
She studies at college and also views from afar her brothers best friend Jase.
They shared a kiss once at a party but since then they haven't spoken.
Jase has issues and so does Tess and they eventually get together and help each other, much to the dismay of her brother.
With a little bit of hot sex thrown in, who could resist!!

This is the second in the Charley Davidson series. I loved this as much as the first one. Charley works as a PI but also just happens to be the Grim Reaper. As such she has several unusual relationships with the dearly departed, specifically Reyes, the being that not only shows up just when she needs him, but makes her go weak in the knees. Charley is trying to solve not only a missing persons case, but another case involving Reyes. She manages to put everything together as well as find out a little bit about her family.

Greta Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer by Marissa Meyer

Week 3 Spot 22
Completed 9/16/14
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a great continuation to the Lunar Chronicles. I loved the introduction of the Scarlet and Wolf characters and the alternating POVs between Scarlet and Cinder. There were parts that seemed a little predictable, but also others that I didn't see coming. It's definitely a fun series to read and I am looking forward to Cress!

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5307 comments Does the story continue from the 1st book Greta or is it a brand new story? I liked the 1st one.

message 156: by Greta (new)

Greta Vicci, it is both really! A new story with Scarlet, but you don't have to wait long for Cinder's story to continue either. I was bummed at first when I thought it was just Scarlet's story, but that really is not the case. The POV's alternate quite a bit.

So much action in this one! And the ending had my jaw hitting the floor! I can't wait to read the last one now. The world Ms. Caine has built is so neat and unique. I love Bryn she's the best heroine. I can't even begin to imagine how this is going to end and I sooooo hope she gets an HEA, she deserves it!

Vamps and the City (Love at Stake, #2) by Kerrelyn Sparks

Read: 18/9/14
Rated: 4 Stars

My Review: I actually enjoyed this one a little more second time around, whether that is because I know the secondary characters better now so even though they seem a little brash or stand-offish, I know what they are really like when you get to know them. There are so many things about this series I love, I adore the good and bad factions, I love the kilt wearing highlanders and I love the existence of the Stake-out team, even if they aren't entirely on the right side.

I would love to see more of what goes on at DVN and I loved hearing Kerrelyn speak in person even if she pronounces McKay wrongly ;)

While this was good it wasn't great. Something was missing for me. The heroes in this series are so very drool worthy and Nicky Blue-eyes was no exception. What I enjoy most about this series is seeing what the tales are up to in the here and now. We get to meet Rumplestiskein in this one and he's a gay jeweler that will crack you up. And let's not forget the 3 little pigs who now are in the business of disposing bodies when they're not being sued for building shoddy houses lol. All in all an ok read it could of been better though.

Read: The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield by Diane Setterfield

Finished: 9/22/14

Review: What a great story! It captivated me from page one and was intriguing throughout! I loved the mystery surrounding Vida Winter and how Margaret became so involved in her story. It was interesting reading about how someone would write a biography and I liked the focus on the twins also. A wonderful read!

While this had great potential, it seemed to get off to a very slow start. I enjoyed the character development for the most part, and the ending was quite unexpected. I do recommend the series and will continue with it.

Heart of the Wolf (Heart of the Wolf, #1) by Terry Spear

1st in Series

Read: 24/9/14
Rated: 4 Stars

My Review: I really enjoyed this one, I just didn't love it. It has lots of potential though and I believe once it really gets into the whole 'pack dynamics' part of the stories I will enjoy them a whole lot more. I loved the tension and the suspense but I just didn't feel we got to know the characters as well as I may have liked. I'll definitely be picking up more books by Terry Spear.

Review

To bake this YA cake you will need:

1 x kickass heroine .....Saba
1 x annoying little sister.......Emmy
1 x douchebag/swoonsome character. ....Jack
1 x evil nasty bitch. .....Miz Pinch
1 x Kidnapped twin brother

Mix these together in a big pot, wen uve got yer micksture rite, then take a big handful of uver stuf to thro in the bowl.

We at YA bakery recommend:
A small scoop of cage fighting
A collection of badass girls called Free Hawks
A nearly human Crow called Nero
Giant Worms

Giv um a gud ol shake an leeve it ta bake ova the fire for 11 owers, you will end up with a massive kicking badass bitch of a book.

Patrick Ness fans will rekonize the writing style from the Walking Chaos trilogy (the best ever by the way) so will be okay with it, others may struggle with it, but stick with it, you'll forget after a while and it will flow nicely.

I will be reading the next book very soon as I really enjoyed this book.
