Book: The Warlord and the Bard The Warlord and the Bard by Eric Alan Westfall
Finished 9/7/14

Review:
Now as this is classic but not totally high fantasy I liked it alot, now the trading of perception for the narration between to two character was rapid fire and That was my biggest problem with the story otherwise there were some minor spelling and grammar errors but not enough to distract. now some call some of the element non or dubious consent I really don't see it like that as when it happened the Goddess was showing how it would be if she forced the bard to love the Warlord when the bard complained to the goddess. The Sex was power sex and if you do not like it rough I would not read it. but if you like your fantasy with some sex in it you could do worse. If you do not like fantasy I would avoid his book as the fantasy elements are strong. The political situation the Warlord is in as the heir presumptive Crown prince and warlord make for interesting when he decides to flick between his various roles/titles and he has a different person for each one.

Review
I picked this one up a couple of weeks ago and it’s been tempting me on my shelf ever since because I love the cover. It’s been a while since I last read the synopsis so the whole book was a pleasant surprise of what would happen next. I was drawn into the girl’s world captivated right from the start it’s an enchanting story that I couldn’t put down. I’ve always been a fan of fairy tales but The School for Good and Evil puts an exciting new twist on the concept creating a fun new story. I think the author did a great job creating a new world for us to fall in love with. The story is beautifully written from start to finish. I loved the characters they were easy to connect with and I enjoyed getting both points of view even if Agatha was my favorite. I loved the story it’s a fun read that kept me on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait to read the next installment. This may very well be my favorite book of the year.

Review: I really enjoyed this book but found that the authors were a little heavy handed with their characters. Meaning we had only one or two that we were unsure if they wore the metaphorical white hat or black. The bad girls were really bad and the good almost too good. I didn't like having dangly bits at the end of the book either but this was only a minor irritant. My main issue was the language of the teens. Our heroine isright around 16 yet she says the word poopie a lot. I don't expect her to swear but every teenager I know says crap rather than poopie. So she says poopie, OK, I can live with that but then we are also to believe this age bracket (who says poopie) engages in oral sex. The language feels 12-13 in age but the rest feels 16+. Despite these issues I'm really looking forward to the second book.

Sorry for any typos.

Review:This book was so intense! I was immersed in it from the beginning. There were so many things that made me love it. The writing was amazing, all our characters were amazing. The author made me second guess myself through the whole book. Just when I was thinking that I figured out something, bam, not it. Also this is one of the most realistic post-apocalyptic books I have ever read. For one, people were worrying about their personal hygiene. Also their whole reaction to the alien Invasion was so... human. All the times I was wondering What?; Is he the Silencer?; What is going on really? It was maddening.

I am glad that there are more books coming out, because I am not finished with this series! I want to read more.
It is a really good book! Amazing job Rick Yancey!!!

Review: this is a good romance with BDSM and M/M overtones. Adam has OCD and anxiety disorders. Somehow Denver has an authority that even Adam's anxieties submit to. This has maybe too much exhibitionism for me. but the characters including secondary characters are so well developed that it is elevated to a must reread for me. the only characters not really developed are the one scened college bullies but then again you do not need much for them.

I wanted to love A World Without Princes but I didn’t but I did enjoy it. I loved the first one so much that the second one had big shoes to fill. The story is interesting it fits for the perfect reason for the girls to return to their fairytale. The book is loaded with suspense, magic, romance, friendship and evil witches that kept me wanting to know what would happen next. The author has done a fantastic job creating another beautifully written story. The writing style smooth it flows from start to finish and it’s easy to get lost in the books. I loved the characters they already had my heart from the first book and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next for them. While this one has a ending it’s clear that there is more to come and I can’t wait for the next installment because I know it’s going to be amazing. This is one of my favorite series it’s a must read.

Review: It's been a long time since I've read an IAD book (have been reading them all out of order) so I'm happy to get back to the series. Overall I thought this book was good/very good. I honestly just thought something was missing from the story. I liked Kaderin and Sebastian but their relationship was almost too crossed lovers to enjoy. To tell the truth I was thinking this was a 3 star read up until the last 50 pages or so. Then, whammy! I kind of melted a bit. I think the person who made this book a page turner for me though was not the H or h but a secondary character, Bowen. When I hit the end of this book I wanted to find out what happened to Bowen. The book left his thread dangling. His book is next. Bet I don't wait over a year to read it!

Review: This bring alot of the storyline to a conclusion, but their is still alot to tie up. good thing this is going to continue but I think I have to wait for the next book to be published. Prophet and tom and the gang captured and Killed Sadiq but still need to capture former teammate and main villian John Morse. Prophet and Tom are Two Alpha Males who both liek to Be Dominated occassionally even though they Also Like to be The Dominator. Learned a bit more about the teammates and how certain things had happenned to them.

Review:I liked the book. The main characters were interesting and funny and the plot was interesting.
The thing that bothered me was that it was predictable and I could see the end from the moment we found out what he was. Like, who didnt guess it? I admit there were some moments when I wasnt so sure but yeah, predictable. It was a little like I was reading a fanfiction. I mean when she (view spoiler).
I didnt like that Sara and Azrael acted like a couple of teenagers who 'fell in love' and they want to be together. I was annoyed after Azrael saw her for the first time and later when he talked with his brothers and they said that it wasnt wise to see her anymore and he acted like a total teenager. And dont get me on Sara...

Review
I had high expectations for Compelled after reading the prior books and the author delivered. Compelled is a fast paced action packed novel that takes a werewolf struggling with OCD and tosses her to the wolves you could say. She needs to learn to be tough and overcome her OCD or it may just cost her the one she loves. I was able to connect with Natalya right from the start and love that she just got better as the story progressed. I’m a huge fan of characters growing throughout the books and she has come a long way. I read Compelled from start to finish in one sitting it was impossible to put down because I had to know if she was going to save Thorn. If you’re a fan of Urban Fantasy and love werewolves this is a must read the characters are great and the story is beautifully done.

The Darkest Pleasure (Lords of the Underworld #3) by Gena Showalter
Finished 9/25/14
Rating ★★★1/2 (but rounded up)
Review: It's been a couple years since I finished the 2nd book in this series and I honestly put off reading this one because I loved #2 so much that I was afraid this one wouldn't live up. To a certain extent it did but it also didn't. What I mean is that as a romance I found Reyes and Danika to be an OK couple with a satisfying outcome/romance but it didn't wow me. I was more intrigued by the world building and the other Lords to tell the truth. So for world building I would give this book 4-4.5 stars but for the romance a very low 3. Beyond that I had a big issue with Reyes (who was possessed with the demon Pain) constantly cutting himself. We have a name for people who inflict injury on themselves and they need psychological help. A lot of it. Having someone like this as a hero was hard to swallow and this aspect of the book pulled down the rating for me. Despite 2 of the first 3 books being only average I am totally looking forward to more LotU books because I'm not sure how Showalter can create a convincing romance between people possessed with Disease, Misery, Doubt, Wrath, and Lies but I can't wait to find out.
