Looks good - option 2 is always a great fall back :D

Week # 7
Bookcover/link: Maelstrom
Rating (1-5): 4 stars
Review:
It was nice to get back to Widdershins and see how things are going for Whyborne and Griffin. I'll admit there were a lot of elements that I saw coming early on in the story and then wondered that none of the characters picked up on the clues. (view spoiler) It will be interesting to see how things continue to progress with the connections to Widdershins and the magic in future stories.

Week #6

Magic Bitesby Ilona Andrews
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: This was a re-read for me. I read it the first time in a group challenge 4 years ago and I'm surprised at how much I forgot about it. I really like Kate. She's totally kick-butt and super sarcastic. The relationship between her and Curran, the Lord of the Beasts, is very interesting and I'm looking forward to reading more and see where it goes. Kate's lineage is a mystery and I'm so curious as to who her father was. I like the world building as well. I can't wait to move to book 2.

Focus on your mom (and yourself). I hope everything goes well.
Don't forget, there is a pass option if you want to use it this week.

Option 1
2. Read a book with a 'servant' as the MC from one of the following lists:
Servant Heroes/Heroines in Romance
Helping Hand Romances
Nanny Governess Romances
Manny MM
Best Gay Slaves
Romance novel leads who were slaves
You must select from one of the lists. Please quote the list and page number where the title is found. A link would be even better!
Option 2
Book chosen from a team member's shelf that was read on the date below or more recently and rated at least 3 stars.
Key Date: October 26, 2018
Please ensure you follow the format shown in msg 3 of your team threads. when you post your selection and completion posts.

Bookcover/link Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Rating (1-5) 5 stars
Review:
After all 5 years of reading it. It still test the hands of time. I got the chance to notice things I didn't before like the Dursley were mean to Harry but I think they care for him a tiny bit but were mainly scared of magic. I also notice how the teachers of the school did't really do anything about the troll. You would think a school of magic teachers would act better.

Week #7

Rating: 3 stars
Review: To be completely honest I'd have given this book 2 stars but since I'm a sucker for happy endings and this book, despite its inability to keep my interest, had a sweet and happy ending, so 1 extra star for that!

Yep, you can change option or book as long as it's before the next call. Just make sure you make a new post, don't just edit the previous selection post (updates don't trigger the notifications, only new posts do).

This was better than I was expecting. Just a short little story of a man still grieving for his wife and the nanny who it turns out is his fated mated. Nothing too deep but still completely entertaining.

I didn't think I would love this book so much. I enjoyed the main story where is said did't matter if you were black or white skin born during that time in America history. You were a slave if you were bought or had a debt to that family. It really open my eyes to the issues that slavery brought to not just america and other countrty. It also showed there was kind people and mean people.
I am putting this book on my reread shelf.

Week #7

Dirty Little Secret by Jennifer Ryan
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This is the second book I've read by Jennifer Ryan and I'm totally a fan. I love her writing. With this book I really enjoyed it on one hand but then the love part moved too quickly for me. Noah's undying adoration of Roxy got a bit nauseating. The surprise suspense aspect late in the book was nice but too bad it was short lived. The one thing I can say about this book and the other Ryan book I read, she has a way of making you completely feel for her characters. Roxy is amazing and I can't wait to read more about her sisters at the Wild Rose Ranch.

Option 1: Servant

Concubine
4.5 stars! I loved Kael and Taren! The world was well built, the sex hot and Kael's submission was fierce.
I enjoy the slave story line when the master strong but kind and the slave becomes willing and this fit the bill. Enough force and coercion to be dubious but enough leeway that you know it isn't non con.

Week #8

Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: If I ignore the fact that there were a few errors in the writing and that the book seemed a bit far fetched to me, I guess then it'd be an okay book, well more than okay but still not great. Despite all of that I loved the characters of this book. I can't even point out one character of this book that I didn't like, except for Cal's ex wife, but since she was in the book just for one short scene so I don't think that counts. I especially loved Cal. When he was first introduced I kind of wanted to punch him but then he grew up on me and his past struggles made me admire him. And I adored our little Sam, I was bummed to not see him in the epilogue.
“There are moments in life where you don’t get a do-over, where the true nature of your character is revealed. You either step up to the plate or lose your chance forever. These moments shape a life. These moments earn you the right to say to yourself ‘at least I got the important stuff right.”

This one was a surprise for me. It's a new author and I never know what to expect. The writing was well done and the story sweet. I'm realizing I kind of like the daddy kink when it doesn't go too overboard...okay, even when it does. Whatever, I like it. This one had a bit of insta-love but we didn't get into the real sex until later in the book so it worked. Great start to a series. I'm sure I'll read the next one.

Review: I thought this was a really sweet story at the core. There was certainly some drama with Jeff's ex, and sadness over Beth's death (especially dealing with Robin). But the kids were adorable, and managed to be a key part of the story without overtaking everything. I thought Donny and Jeff worked well together (almost a little too sweet, but it worked in the story).

Review: A really great contemporary romance with ok romantic suspense elements.
The Good, The Bad, and Everything Else: So what I really loved about this book was the honest romance that took it's time to blossom between Zeke and Carlin. Both Zeke's and Carlin's characters are pretty great and their banter between each other and with the secondary characters were highlights of the story. I did like the suspense aspect of the story but wish it would have more prominent in the middle of the story. The book started out so good with Carlin's stalker hunting her down. The climax of that plot thread was really well done as well. The middle lacked much in the way of the suspense. However, the good romance that built throughout the middle almost made up for it.
In a Nutshell: I really liked this book a lot and wish there was a second book already out in the series. Not sure when there will be a second book in the Battle Ridge series but since it's been so many years since the first one came out a new one doesn't look like it's coming, unfortunately.

I loved this tail of murder and theft. I really liked Alec and felt the character grew while staying true to himself; Same with Jerry. I loved them together; There’s some delicious power exchange in the bedroom.
The settings were great and I loved seeing Susan all grown up. There are a few unexpected twists that added to the delight of the book.
I’m definitely looking forward to more in this series.

Option 1

Please ensure you follow the format shown in msg 3 of your team threads. when you post your selection and completion posts.

Next week is the last week. That week is essentially a read-off to see which team can complete first. It is best to finish all week 1-10 completions before the week 11 task call.
Also, for the Option #2. You would not pick a book from one of your teammates, but rather from a team we are assigned to pick from at the week 11 task call.
If you have any questions, ask early (as in now) so we can get answers before the last round.

6. Read a book involving mistaken identity or working undercover from one of the following lists:
Mistaken/hidden identity romance
Hide in plain sight romance
Gay romance with MC undercover

Princess in Disguise
Click link above for list links
9. Read a book published in December of any year.
10. Read a book where the MC travels (or has travelled) to another city, state or country. Must be in the precis or tagged appropriately. Eg Heading home for a visit/to live or two (or more) locations mentioned in the precis will work. Past tense of 'coming back' from another location will work.
13. Read a book with a MPG of either Historical or Science Fiction.
14. Read a book on the RRRC's (this group) 'Romance' shelf. It must be on this shelf ~ other shelves with 'romance' in the title will not count.
If you wish to ensure a book fits, add book to this shelf if you KNOW that the book is 'romance'. MPG Romance would be sufficient to qualify.

Rereading this book show me I was not wrong about this being the worst book in the series. I enjoy the part of George and Fred getting their joke shop off and running. I found Harry potter quite a whiner in this book. I like the fact that J. K. Rowling showed the Black's family tree which show that their are good normal wizards in a tree full of rotten apples. I really wish the book flowed better.

This reminded me of "More Than Make-Believe" which is one of my all time favorite books so that can only be a good thing for me. Really hot, intense, "need you now" smexing with that possessive thing going on. Very nice! A bit angsty, made me weepy, another plus. All in all just about a perfect read for me.

Review:
This was an unique story in the setup of the magic interpretation with the different arcana corresponding to the periodic table (granted an older version). I thought the way outcasts are treated by the guilds was cruel, especially the unplaceables like Toby. Toby had such a great attitude through the whole book, he fights for the chance to keep living. I liked the way Toby helped bring Darius out of his depression and gave him something to focus on.
I'm looking forward to seeing how their story will continue in the series.

Review:
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I thought was a sweet story, but I did find the plot a bit predictable. There was some tension over the loss of Ronnie's previous Alpha, but it didn't become too big of an issue in the story. Also some issue with Ronnie being Zave's employer, but the story doesn't dwell too long on that potential problem. Zave and Ronnie had known each other in college, so this was a bit of a second chance story, but it didn't rely too heavily on who they were to build a connection. Mae and Maddie were sweet characters and I think added a nice element to the story.

Also, just curious about Samantha's book. Not to be a busybody but I'd hate for her to read it for this challege and it not work. The challenge specifically says not to convert months to numbers is all. Sorry would have mentioned it earlier but didn't notice the pub date.

Week #9

Texas Troubleby Gerry Bartlett
Rating 2.5 Stars
Review: I pretty much disliked this book. The suspense wasn't up to snuff and there were too many bad guys and too many storylines to really build up the suspense properly. The characters of Scarlett and Ethan had amazing chemistry and I enjoyed watching them work together too. There just were too many "Really?!?!" moments for me to take this book seriously. When Ethan and pretty much every other Scarlett protector talked about keeping her safe they all were talking about wishing the bad guy would come around because they all carry guns and needed the target practice. ugh.

Also, just curious about Samantha's book. Not to be a busybody but I'd hate for her to read it for this challege and it not work...."
I sent her a message about it a few days ago.
