How the book qualifies - Book has the number three in the title.
I decide to change my book choice after I finished putting my tbr book shelves together.

Week 1 - Option 1
Some Guys Need a Lot of Lovin'

Rating: 3,5
Review: This was the 3rd book in Amy Andrews Outback Heat series. I like Marcus and Juanita's story but I could not connect as well as with the other three books. I don't know exactly why maybe because of the sad background story and the PTSD topic. But still great writing.

This is also a reread. I love this series, in fact I love just about everything Jordan L Hawk writes
Nick has a heart of gold wrapped in a grumpy package. Jamie is slightly naive but is willing to see the truth when shown it.
They worked well together and I was glad to see all the other couples again as well.

Review: Trigger warning for kidnapping and slavery.
This book had quite a few strong points and lots of issues for me. I found the main character Paige really relate-able. I enjoyed the Paige's growth over the book. My main issues was the force romance between slave and master. I found it really hard to believe. I also didn't find a race from across time believable. Overall a nice read. I will read the next book in the series.

Week # 1

Wild Hearts by Sharon Sala
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: This is the second book I've read by this author and once again I wasn't wowed. I love small town romances but most of this book really failed to capture the quaintness and likable cast of townsfolk. Towards the end there was a parade of women who pitched in to make the book conclude with a small town feel but I think it was a bit too late. Also, the initial mystery was almost overshadowed by an additional mystery and left dangling at the end. The romance was a reunited theme which I actually like but in some cases it can come across as just a lazy way to bring a couple together to create a HEA ending. Unfortunately, that was my impression of Wild Hearts' romance. I normally might refuse to continue with a series based on my "meh" feelings towards this book but I really want to know who killed Dick Phillips so I'll probably have to read the next book. As this is a trilogy I bet Sala won't answer that question until the end of book 3.

Option 1: Number

Alpha's Sacrifice by Nora Phoenix
Pages: 284
Read: 3/17/19
Rating: ★★★★
First off, this book ends at a critical point, not so much a cliffy as a "to be continued" but I'm thankful I read this when the next book is already available. Also, the MMMM relationship hasn't started yet in this book. We have two sets of friends with benefits that all come together to help the omega Vieno. This book is most focused on the newness of Lidon and Vieno and the bond between Vieno and Palani. There is also a very interesting mystery threaded throughout which isn't solved yet so another reason to read the next right away. This is just the beginning for these four and obviously I'm moving on to the next right now.

Review:
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I liked the dynamic of having a human raised by shifters. Joel was the out-cast not because he could shift, but because he couldn't. I also like that this story touched on the issue of finding a mate (and even having friends) when you have power. Thomas is both the Keeper for his district and a dragon, so he was dealing with the political issues of power and the shifter level of power. I thought Joel was such a good match for Thomas, simply by being who he is.
I like that even though there is certainly the "fated mates" pull between Thomas and Joel, there is still tension. Thomas feels the mating pull stronger (or at least is more aware of it) than Joel because of being a shifter, but it is clear that Joel is affected by the pull as well. The plot had a nice smooth flow with both internal and external tension/issues for the MCs to overcome.

Week 2

Alpha One by Cynthia Eden
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: Another good book by Cynthia Eden. I forgot I read the 3rd book in this series several years ago so all the characters were brand new to me again. This wasn't a bad thing except I forgot the basic concept of the Shadow Agents. Good thing for me, Eden did a great job introducing the team and their job in this first book. The romance was a theme I actually enjoy, a reunited lovers theme. Unlike the lasts book I read for this challenge that happened to have this exact them, the romance didn't come across as lazy. The author did a great job of giving enough background and enough of the couple going forward, the relationship felt authentic instead of a copout.
One of my biggest complaints was the author made the heroine independent and strong but when she found out the hero was using her she was really angry but not that long afterwards decided to sleep with him anyway. Ugh!
Still overall a really decent category romance and I'm looking forward to reading the second book.

Week #2

Rating: 4.5 stars
Review: This was another one of my rereads. I don't know why but since this year has began, all I can do is reread, I just can't start a fresh book and this is starting to frustrate me. Anyway, even if this was a reread, I enjoyed every moment of it. Thankfully! But unfortunately, since this was a reread, I encountered mistakes that I somehow overlooked the first time I read this. If you're looking to read a historical romance then I'd definitely suggest this to you; just beware of a few writing errors. Although this book is part of a series, you can read it as a standalone too.

Snowblind by Eli Easton

I was expecting a book full of fluff but that is so not what I got. The beginning was all fluff but then we got a spy, an evil mastermind, a sadistic bad guy and a team of military men. Yowza, this was much more action packed and fun than your standard Dreamspun Desires story. I loved both MCs, hated the evil and the sadistic. Was glad to get the epilogue as it brought everything together. Good read!

Week 3
Option 1
Alliance in Blood
Read 03/24/19
3.5 stars.
I was confused and found the book hard to get into.
The books starts in the middle of a war between wizards, but we don’t really get what is going on other than it’s dark wizards fighting against light wizards. I’m not sure if wizards and vampires are known to the nonmagical for in this world as at times it implies they are but others seems like it’s a secret. We get everyone’s point of view from a lot of head hopping. While I don’t mind additional information, some of it was unnecessary and left the book feeling unfocused. Very little time passes in this book and not much is resolved.
However, I liked the idea of the blood partnership and I liked Alain and Orlando. I see the other pairings come more forward in subsequent books but I hope we see more of these two. I will continue with the series as somehow I own the next 3 and am sufficiently engaged to want to know what happened next.

Review:
I enjoyed this story more than the previous stories. I think the friendship between Travis and Jack had a real sweetness to it. Although we don't get to see much of the build-up of the friendship, there are the ways that they interact with each other that helps show how connected they have become. I'm hoping we'll see more of the Agency in future stories as I think they are an interesting element to the world-building, but we're still only getting glimpses of what they are doing.

Trigger warning for Rape.
I thought this would be amazing story about a woman who is reliving her past life in three different views. Sadly that was not the case. I found the story interesting but had a few issues. It reads like many books written by Amy Tan. I wish I could say something good about the book but I can't.

Trigger warning for Rape.
I wanted to like this book but the rape theme over and over again made me a bit ill. I like the cat in the book. I enjoyed Eve hard hitting attitude to get the case solved. I feel it didn't need a love interested. I love the fact it takes place in New York City.

Hi Samantha - please post the bookcover as well. Thanks :)

I am so so sorry, this is the first time I have to quit a challenge. I was really looking forward to this event but real life is totally crazy at the moment and I have no time for reading. It will not get better in the coming weeks. I wish you lots of fun for the following weeks. Maybe we see each other in the next challenge again.
Regards
Stefanie

Rating: Huh, finally a book that's not a reread. Unfortunately, I can't say that I enjoyed it much either. At least it kept me interested enough to finish it. There were a number of things about this book that just plain grated on my nerves. Things that I'm not going to list out here, since I wanna make this post short and simple but more importantly I also wanna figure out which book I'm gonna read for my next week. So, overall, this was just an okay book to me, nothing overly special, just meh. I'll say if you want to read a PNR/Fantasy book, then there are better options than this one. But if you're really curious about this book then I'll say go ahead and read it out, maybe you'll like this one more that I did.

I think it counts (based on what Jane has allowed), but I posted to the Q&A thread for confirmation
