Review
This was a surprisingly good read. Having suffered at the hands of her husband Anna seizes the opportunity to escape her brother-in-law when he dies. On the way back from burying her husband, she comes across his doppelgänger who is severely injured and who has amnesia. With the aid of her butler they convince him that he is the Duke, as the story progresses, Anna finds herself falling for the stranger but her treacherous brother-in-Law knows something is amiss. A good story with some surprising twists

Review:
I 100% thought that this book was a meme. I've seen people write it off just based on the summary and thinking the idea is silly. But it's not! It's fantastic! Bi rep, nonbinary rep, fat woman rep, ALL WHILE RIDING FUCKING HIPPOS?! Come on. It's so cool and the characters are wonderful. I fell in love with Houndstooth and Archie and Hero right away. Sarah Gailey is now on my "I will trust you to write anything and will read everything you publish" list.
Honestly, this is just a fun, short book with fantastic characters. Read it. If you don't like you, you hate fun.

Review: Clint Shepfield severely beat up and injured a class mate because Clint didn't want to be gay. He spent 5 years in prison to pay for his mistake. He has long regretted his action and plead guilty and explained why he did it. The only people who had visited him when he was in prison was his mother and Cody his best friend, and a few time Sam the boy he beat up who forgave him eventually.
Ricky Santos, a former track star at SMU, was beaten and left permanently injured with a fractured hip that will not move and a broken pelvis. This injury left him confined to a wheel chair. They are both living with Cody and Sam while they readjust to their circumstances. A homophobic citizen tries to force them out of Alvarado. first by forcing them to leave Sam and Cody's place that is only zoned for single family occupancy. they come up with a solution for that when the citizen move from opposing a change for a rural zoning for the area they now live, hoping to cause them to have to leave there also.

Review: This story is set in a small town in Indiana. Ceejay's live in boyfriend (Matt) left her as soon as he found out she was pregnant. Matt's stepbrother, Noah, after Matt's accidental death, comes to Ceejay's home town when he discovers what Matt did. He keeps all this to himself to find out exactly what happened. Noah and Ceejay go through numerous ups and downs before they reach their HEA. Ceejay suffers from abandonment issues since her Mom left her as a small child, she never found out who her father was and then Matt left. Noah was in Iraq and wounded which resulted in a loss of his leg. He has severe PTSD. So there were definitely many issues to be resolved. I really loved this story. Ceejay drove me a little crazy with her back and forth issues with Noah but overall, I loved it.

Review: Suspended from school for confronting her Islamophobic teacher in class, Zayneb gets to head out early to her aunt's house in Doha, Qatar, for spring break. With her outspoken anger getting both herself and her friends in trouble, she tries to become a calmer, kinder, less angry version of herself in this new place. Adam has a whole different set of problems: Since being diagnosed with MS, the same disease that killed his mother when he was a child, he has dropped out of university and decided to try out a different path - while trying to figure out how to break the devastating news of his diagnosis to his father and little sister. Through entries in their respective journals, we follow them both as their paths cross and they begin to fall in love.
I really enjoyed S.K. Ali's debut Saints and Misfits. This one I didn't love quite as much, mostly because the romance didn't really draw me in all that much - I was a lot more invested in the other issues the book revolved around. Nevertheless, a good read that leaves me looking forward to the author's next novel.

Book and Author: Texas! Lucky by Sandra Brown
Pages: 336
How it Fits: Library Book
Rating: 4 stars
Read: 6/15
Review: Lucky is quite the playboy. He is sitting at a bar and steps in when two men are harassing a woman (Devon). There is a fight, Lucky is injured, but he chases after Devon when she drives off. They spend a night together but she is gone in the morning when he wakes up. He then must find her because there is a fire at his company's storage barn and the feds are looking at him for arson. This book had Sandra Brown's usual suspense and trying to figure out who the culprit is and, of course, a big shocker at the end. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Different people have a different definition of behind it is better to be up to date early in the game so you are not playing catch up later when there might be time constraints or other factors that make it difficult to finish the book you need to.

I am not criticizing I am trying to make sure we are all informed of where we are and what needs to be done.

Review: With a small band of allies, Zenia and Jev head out on a dangerous quest to find and rescue the dragon whose soul Zenia's powerful dragon tear is connected to. Their journey to a distant land is beset by troubles from the start, including enemies, false friends and terrifying creatures from legend. And while they're off dealing with all that and more, their own kingdom faces an invasion they might not be able to return in time to put a stop to.
A satisfying finale for this series in which questions are answered, foes defeated, happy endings found, and all sorts of entertaining shenanigans ensue on the way. Would love to return to this world some time.

This was the final instalment in the immortal Descendants series. This follows straight on from the events of the bomb blast in 1944. Stairs and Ringo find themselves catapulted into a different time stream where Archer is dead and the mongers are not a threat. This instalment didn't disappoint as Saira and Ringo travel back and forth through time to heal the time split and protect their families from the Monger Seth.

I did it, guys!!!! Fifth times a charm. Four times I started and dropped this book. On the fifth- We audiobook these. And doing it that way, we got through it! So let's discuss the audio real quick before I get into the book itself. The narrator really grew on me after a bit EXCEPT for her Hodge voice. I can't actually articulate how much I hated that.
The book itself! The writing is not great! The main character is not great! The world building is not great! There is nothing outstanding about this book!
Except. Jace and Alec. And yes. I am aware that Jace is your extremely cookie cutter snarky bad boy with (probably) a heart of gold. And yes. He is a watered down Will Herondale. I'm sure that's relevant later. Even so, he's pretty much the only real enjoyment I got out of the book. BUT WE TRUDGE ON! TO BOOK TWO! IN HOPES OF BETTER THINGS!

Seanan McGuire recently said something on Twitter that made me realize why I immediately fell head over heels for this series. "The doors aren't death. They're fandom." And that made so much sense to me, being raised in fandom. These are stories of kids finding a place carved out for them, where they feel seen and understood for the person they are.
I think I enjoyed book one more? This one lacked a little bit of the action that the first one had for me. But the background built for Jack and Jill was so great and thorough, it really added another layer. Still one of my favorite series I've ever picked up.
