Abby | 5404 comments Now we're just waiting on Shae.

Hoping we'll do great for February!

message 7: by Nicole (last edited Jan 31, 2019 12:54PM) (new)

Nicole (artsofashes) | 696 comments I'm excited for February! Tomorrow I'm going to start one of these four books for the challenge:
Siege and Storm (Grisha Verse, #2) by Leigh Bardugo Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard Give the Dark My Love (Give the Dark My Love, #1) by Beth Revis Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by Robin LaFevers
I'm probably going to start with Give the Dark My Love-- it's a whopping 21 points!

message 8: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments Nice! I'll be reading a combo of regular books and V books since I've got commitments for other challenges, but most have an edition in another language with a V. I'm starting out the month with The Regulators on Kindle and Sinner on audio.

message 9: by Claire (last edited Feb 04, 2019 08:46PM) (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments Yay it's finally here!

I'm going to try to read at least 50% V books this month, I'm a mood reader so it's hard for me to stick to a strict TBR.

I'll be starting with The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater which is worth 18 points!

By the way, if any of you guys want to do a buddy read for bonus points, feel free to ask me to buddy read anything on my owned-tbr shelf.

message 11: by Raghad (new)

Raghad | 1483 comments i'm reading these if anyone wants to join
BR: A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman Verity by Colleen Hoover The Governess Game (Girl Meets Duke, #2) by Tessa Dare Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel Siege and Storm (Grisha Verse, #2) by Leigh Bardugo The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller Unravel (Fairfax, #1) by Calia Read
all of them have v in english or other langueges.

i will also try and read Ready Player One (Ready Player One, #1) by Ernest Cline The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air, #2) by Holly Black Ruin and Rising (Grisha Verse, #3) by Leigh Bardugo

message 12: by Claire (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments I'm joining the buddy reads for Station Eleven, The Dream Thieves, and possibly also The Archived if I can manage my time well (not likely) :D

message 13: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments I have to finish up a book from January, but that'll probably be today. Just one page point.

message 14: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (artsofashes) | 696 comments Raghad, I'm going to be starting Siege and Storm today as a BR too :) but I don't know if I'll get to Ruin and Rising after that though.

Here are the other buddy reads I want to get to this month:
Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by Robin LaFevers Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard Give the Dark My Love (Give the Dark My Love, #1) by Beth Revis Caraval (Caraval, #1) by Stephanie Garber Even the Darkest Stars (Even the Darkest Stars, #1) by Heather Fawcett Carve the Mark (Carve the Mark, #1) by Veronica Roth

message 15: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments Oh sooo many books in your lists that I want to read. Do they all count for vs? I might just mood read this month and jump in with some of those on my tbr!

message 16: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (artsofashes) | 696 comments Yup, they all have v's in the title or author's name and they're all worth around 15-20 points I believe!

message 17: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments And for the ones that don’t, are there other titles that have them? Going to look at wicked king now

message 18: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (artsofashes) | 696 comments Not sure, I've only looked at the ones I listed.

message 19: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments Couldn’t find one for wicked king.

Out of your books, I have red queen, grave mercy, caravan. I might try and get carve the mark on audio.
Do you have dates set for these, or just reading them when you feel?

message 20: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (artsofashes) | 696 comments They all have buddy read dates. You'll have to look at the buddy read thread to see what they are, because I don't remember them off the top of my head.

message 21: by Claire (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments I finally finished The Dream Thieves, not sure why I had so much trouble with it but at least I got there in the end!

Next is Station Eleven which is worth 15 points.

message 22: by Claire (last edited Feb 10, 2019 09:25PM) (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments Wow I am super behind on my reading this month. I read way too many books in January (22 books in 31 days!) and now all I want to do is binge watch old tv shows 😭

I did finish Station Eleven though, currently working on:
A Darker Shade of Magic - 13 points
Bared to You - 8 points

message 23: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments How’s everyone going?

I’ve got two books to post. I’ve been in a slump because I was sick and it was hard to read. But I’ll be back in it the rest of the month and catch up to the medium book quota :P

message 24: by Claire (last edited Feb 19, 2019 09:26PM) (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments I'm doing ok, but I had to resume my studies this month so I have way less free time than I did in January 😭

I just hit the quota last night but imma try to get read a bit faster now so I can fight izzy for the most points! 😈

Currently reading Never Let You Go which is worth 19 points!

message 25: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments Oh no, good luck with your studies!

Haha well that’s good your feeling competitive, I need that strive back!

I am currently reading November 9 by Colleen Hoover and The Redemption of Callie & Kayden (The Coincidence, #2) by Jessica Sorensen (which has an edition with a v)

I have also got to start The Giver by Lois Lowry soon

message 26: by Claire (last edited Feb 21, 2019 10:50PM) (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments I highly doubt that I'll be able to catch up to izzy, but if it motivates me to read more then it's still good!

I'm reading The Archived (The Archived, #1) by Victoria Schwab by Victoria Schwab now, I was originally going to read Vengeful but sometimes when I pick up a 500+ page book I really want to read my brain just goes "Lol nope"

message 27: by izzy (last edited Feb 23, 2019 10:26AM) (new)

izzy | 1307 comments Hey!! I've missed so much

Vengeful is actually great, you might like it!

Today is my free day, i need books to read! Any idea?

message 28: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments I’m loving November 9 right now!! It counts for two vs as the author is Colleen Hoover. It’s a reread for me, but I forgot all the little details :)

message 29: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments I need to get to vengeful!

message 30: by izzy (new)

izzy | 1307 comments @SHAE November 9 it is then

Happy Victor Vale vengeful reading!!!

message 31: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments There’s a buddy read too!

Here’s the thread

:)

message 32: by Claire (last edited Feb 24, 2019 07:24PM) (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments I started The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North because it's been sitting on my shelf for a while and there's an edition with 3 Vs.

It is some heavy stuff though, not really a great pick for a reading challenge. I might have to lock myself in a room without a phone or a computer so I can get through this in a timely manner 😢

Assuming I finish it on time, my last book for the month will be The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue (Montague Siblings, #1) by Mackenzi Lee

message 33: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments Awesome Claire!!

So I should have two books to post before end of the month.

Both buddies and both with one v each. Fingers crossed we can try and get into second!

message 34: by Claire (last edited Feb 27, 2019 05:13PM) (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments Dear god, I finally finished Harry August. I mean it was good overall, definitely worth the read, but I don't understand how the author managed to take such an interesting concept and make it so tiresome to get through!

I'm switching out my final book for Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) by Kendare Blake (edition with 1 V) because it's shorter and we only have like 30 hours left. I'm liking it so far so I should be able to finish it in time!

message 35: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments Good job Claire!
I need to read Harry August, I’ve heard it’s great. Maybe I will need to spread it out so it doesn’t feel tiresome.

I’ve also finished some quick audios with vs, so I’ll post them soon too!

message 36: by Claire (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments I hope you enjoy it when you get to it! :D

message 37: by Abby (new)

Abby | 5404 comments I don't have any more to submit for the end of the month. And even if we lose, we have the most buddy read and page points, which is awesome!

message 38: by Claire (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments This is my first reading challenge so I'm just happy that I met my reading goal :D

I've only got 150 pages of my final book left so I'll be able to get that done very soon!

message 39: by Shae (new)

Shae Petersen | 6965 comments Good job this month team! Sorry I was so sick initially and not reading much. We did great :) hope to be in teams in the future

message 40: by Claire (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments You more than made up for it in the end Shae!

My final review is up, 2 hours left until the March challenge begins~

Thank you guys for this challenge, it was a lot of fun!
