Anne C | 2 comments So several of my go to authors are either ending their series, winding down their series, or haven't put out new books yet. So, I'm looking for something new.

I'm not a fan of YA generally - I like adult, PR/UF, fantasy, and sci fi romance with good character and world building. If the author does a good job at keeping individual books intieresting, I'm not turned off on a series that's pretty formulaic.

Here are the books/authors/series I really like - can anyone suggest similar?
(no particular order)

Dianne Duvall Immortal Guardians/Gifted Ones
Suzanne Wright: Phoenix/Mercury Pack, Dark in You
Cherise Sinclair Wild Hunt Series
Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson & Alpha Omega Series
Ilona Andrews: Kate Daniels & Spin off, Hidden Legacy
Christine Feehan - too many to mention =)
JR Ward - Black Dagger Brotherhood
Debra Dunbar Imp Series
Anne Bishop The Others
Tracy St, John Clans of Kalquor
Jeaniene Frost Night Huntress/Night Prince
Linnea Sinclair Dock 5
Susan Hayes The Drift Series
Nalini Singh - her Psy Changeling and Archangel series
Faith Hunter Skinwalker
Kim Harrison - I really liked The Hollows series at first, but it got too angsty for me at the end and I ended up not reading the last book. I liked the way I mentally ended the series better ;)
Oh speaking of angsty, again really not a fan, but I got hooked on JC Andrijeski's series Allie's War - if you DO like angst/star crossed lovers it might be something you'd like. Warning though, there are trigger moments in the series
Laura K Hamilton - I never did finish her series but now I don't remember why
Thea Harrison
Pippa DaCosta
Brandon Sanderson

I think that's a good representation of my favorites =) If anyone can add to this, please do!!

I've read many of the same books as you, so I've tried to think of authors that I love, that are slightly less well-known, or at least not popular enough to just assume you've already read them. If you have, I can probably swap these out for a few others if you ask.

Blood Slaves (The Daughters of Darkness, #1) by N.L. Hoffmann Blood Slaves by N.L. Hoffman (I enjoyed books 2 & 3 more than the 1st but it's still really good. The version of Satan in this series is a hilarious nut job very similar to the one in the Dark in You series by Suzanne Wright or the Hell books by Eve Langlais)

I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie (I Like Big Dragons, #1) by Lani Lynn Vale I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie by Lani Lynn Vale

Cronin's Key (Cronin's Key, #1) by N.R. Walker Cronin's Key by N.R. Walker (#1 fav m/m paranormal romance)

Regina in the Sun (Children of the Goddess, #1) by R.G. Alexander Regina in the Sun by R.G. Alexander

Death Becomes Her (The Kurtherian Gambit, #1) by Michael Anderle Death Becomes Her by Michael Anderle (Top FAV SERIES, and also free if you have Kindle Unlimited, I'm completely addicted to this series !!!)

Victoria Jayne JD Tyler's Alpha Pack series is good

So is my book The Witch of the Prophecy

You ticked off a few of my favorite series so I'm hoping my recommendations hit home

Amy*skye.rhyme | 58 comments I agree that JD Tyler's Alpha Pack series is really good. In fact, Primal Law is one of my favorites for cool sidekick characters (Blue & Chup-Chup).

Have you tried any of these series?

Waking the Beast (Awakening Pride, #1) by Lacey Thorn Waking the Beast by Lacey Thorn (Awakening Pride #1)

Rafael (Stone Society #1) by Faith Gibson Rafael by Faith Gibson (Stone Society #1)

Omega Mine (Alpha and Omega, #1) by Aline Hunter Omega Mine by Aline Hunter (Alpha & Omega #1)

Rye | 46 comments I completely feel your pain. It seems like I am in a sinkhole at the moment as all my fave 'must read' authors have books scheduled for March for some insane reason. March! That's a life time away.

In the mean time I am diving back in to the Southern Sanctuary Series for a re-read. Why? Because Jane Cousins is awesome and can't recommend this series enough. 12 books so far, different couple each time but secondary characters run through all the books.
They are clever, witty, sizzling and just fun. A meddling magical match maker. Gods. Goddesses. And sentient ugly as sin bridesmaids dresses... who could ask for more?

Start with book one - To Woo A Warrior To Woo A Warrior (Southern Sanctuary, #1) by Jane Cousins

every book is a winner, be careful of reading in public, you will be laughing so much people will think you are insane

message 9: by Anne (new)

Anne C | 2 comments Thank you all so much for the suggestions! I had forgotten about the Alpha Pack series; I listened to that one on Audible. I'm going to start making my way through this list!

message 10: by Alice (new)

Alice Bello (alicebelloromance) | 5 comments Don’t forget Patricia has a spin-off series, Alpha and Omega, and Ilona has the sensational Edge novels, and her self published Inn Keeper Chronicles.

message 11: by Alice (new)

Alice Bello (alicebelloromance) | 5 comments And then there’s Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin Series, The Morganville Vampires Series by Rachel Caine, and J R Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood.

Amara Dey | 4 comments Michele Hauf has many PR series under the Nocturne brand.
Debbie Herbert has several series too under Nocturne. I enjoyed one with mermaids that she's written. Siren series that was.

Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #4) by Kresley Cole Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night
Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark is almost a must have. Best yet, you can find this series at the library if the cost of an ebook is too steep.

She also has Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles, #1) by Kresley Cole Poison Princess this one is a YA but what starts off as a Teenage cheerleader story, evolves (around chapter 13) to become a dystopia/paranormal/adventure/romance story. The last book is suppose to be released this year. It’s still an amazing series if you can get past the misleading beginning.

There’s always the mainstream Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Darkfever

And

Steal the Light (Thieves, #1) by Lexi Blake Steal the Light

And the amazing

Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy, #1) by Ilona Andrews Burn for Me or Ilona Andrews other series Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Magic Bites

I advise to read the samples before committing.

G. A. Aiken (a pen-name for Shelly Laurenston's fantasy romance series) Dragon Kin series. All MMPB Her Pack and Pride and shifter romances are also just fun published as Shelly Laurenston. All Trade Paperback and the 3 early books might be hard to find but are not really essential.

Also K. F. Breen's DDVN series, at least the first 3 - Born in Fire (Fire and Ice Trilogy, #1) by K.F. Breene and Raised in Fire (Fire and Ice Trilogy, #2) by K.F. Breene and Fused in Fire (Fire and Ice Trilogy, #3) by K.F. Breene . The other books by her that are OK, but not as good as the above, are The Demi-Gods of San Fransisco, the third due out this month (she does trilogy romances) Sin & Chocolate (Demigod of San Francisco, #1) by K.F. Breene is book 1. Give it a try.

Victoria Jayne Tainted Waters (Paranormal Peacekeepers #1) by Lucretia Stanhope It doesnt start out romance-y but its a good fantasy read

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 398 comments Anne, have you tried something in a different genre or sub-genre?

Perhaps some dystopian, there's plenty of good solid ADULT (!) dystopian fiction available. Or some high fantasy, or some contemporary romance or some sci-fi... I find quite often when I'm feeling slumpy changing genre helps me out.

Whitney (whitneybookmagic) Hi Ann,

I am so with you. It's been hard to find something new that really grabs me lately. I have a few authors listed below with my Favorite series listed. Hopefully, this will help you.

Dannika Dark
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Seven Years (Seven #1)
- Note: Dark is a world builder. All of her books go by the same rules and mythology. Characters from her other series will show up in others.

B.L. Brunnemer
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Found (Books of Stone, #1)
- Note: Brunnemer does write one of my favorite series and it is in the same world as the one listed above. But it starts out as YA. I say starts out because it will be a 15 book series. Starting the Junior year of high school. Her character development is phenomenal and it is a reverse harem.

Hellen Harper
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Bloodfire (Blood Destiny, #1)
- Note: Some of Harper's other books are not my cup of tea. But she is good at world building.

If you like reverse harems:

Kristy Cunning
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Four Psychos (The Dark Side, #1)
- Note: My first Paranormal Reverse Harem. Want to play with the spawn of the devil?

Jaymin Eve
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Trickery (Curse of the Gods #1)
- Note: NOT a YA, though book one had me wondering. No angst.

M.H. Soars, a.k.a. Michelle Hercules
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Red's Alphas (Wolves of Crimson Hollow #1)

C.C. Masters
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Finding Somewhere to Belong (Seaside Wolf Pack, #1)

Stunich, C.M.
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
The Nine (Foxfire Burning, #1)

Jackie May
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Don't Rush Me (Nora Jacobs, #1)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments All of the Anna Lowe series are good. Nalini Singh also writes some great series. Her Psy/Changling series is my favorite. It has great world building.

Books Steal the Light (Thieves, #1) by Lexi Blake Steal the Light Steal the Day (Thieves, #2) by Lexi Blake Steal the Day

message 22: by Treena (new)

Treena (treenao) | 93 comments Will second the recommendations for Grace Draven, Jane Cousins, KF Breene's Demigod of SF series (I just finished book 3 and now I'm in a slump which is why I'm combing through this thread, heehee), and Jackie May's Nora Jacobs!

I would like to add the following names to this list:

Ella Summers's Legion of Angels series, book 1 is Vampire's Kiss (Legion of Angels #1) by Ella Summers

Jaymin Eve's Secret Keeper series, book 1 is House of Darken (Secret Keepers, #1) by Jaymin Eve

Shelly Laurenston has a new series (set in the same world as her Pride series) which I really really enjoy, book 1 is Hot and Badgered (Honey Badger Chronicles, #1) by Shelly Laurenston .

Isabel Jordan's Harper Hall series is also fun, book 1 is Semi-Charmed (Harper Hall Investigations, #1) by Isabel Jordan

message 23: by Cozen (last edited Mar 23, 2019 12:16AM) (new)

Cozen | 500 comments Well if you’re looking for a fun series, you can’t go wrong with Eva Langlais’ “Welcome to Hell.” Series. A Demon and Her Scot (Welcome to Hell, #3) by Eve Langlais A Demon and Her Scot- the fourth book in the series. It’s a different take on the after life. But the world building is beyond great.

message 24: by Bekka (last edited Mar 28, 2019 06:47AM) (new)

Bekka (bekkac) | 1 comments Hi! I'm making a note of your book list. I'm in a slump too.
One of my FAVORITES is Elizabeth Hunter's Elemental Mysteries. Book one is A Hidden Fire. Vampire romance, adventure, character development, quotable. I think you'll fall in love with these characters.

Also give A Discovery of Witches a try. Vampires and witches with lots of plot (this one is very literary and can be dense at times).

Carrie Butler's Mark of Nexus series was really enjoyable as well.

Cozen | 500 comments Just finished Born in Fire (Fire and Ice Trilogy, #1) by K.F. Breene Born in Fire. It’s got that Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews feel to it, mostly due to its strong female lead that does her own thing with confidence and a touch of humor. The third book, Breene out did herself. She went beyond the golden standard of her normal skill set in my opinion.

This is to reiterate and support a previous recommendation by Reacherfan from above.

The author is familiar, the name has popped up over the years. But I can’t say I’ve read any of the books. I’ll take a look since I’m in a slump of my own. Currently read over 190 books samples and nothing has really caught my attention. But thanks for the heads up.

Natalie Aejaz (natalieaejaz) | 2 comments Wow! You have quite a list there. Have you tried 'Immortals after Dark'? The series covers all sorts of supernatural beings, although some of the books are better than others.

She’s “Supposedly” releasing Munro on the 28th, that’s in like 12 days. I really hope she sticks to that release. That one will be book 19 in the series. But something tells me she will find some reason to push back the release date, if you go by past releases. She also hasn’t put up the book cover as she said she would.
