Another read-a-thon in the books! We hope you've enjoyed the last few weeks of frantic reading and fun games.

Here are a few questions to wrap everything up:

1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?

You're welcome to go back and do any of the challenges/games you're interested in that you may have missed! As requested, the "A book first sentence" will be added to the permanent activities in the group :)

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 2573 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I read 886 pages, a little over 200 were towards finishing His Majesty's Dragon, I finished 8 picture books (😂😕) and a Graphic Novel.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
No, no and NO!!!! I wanted to finish 2 books towards my ATY challenge but ended up using books from my picture book and middle grade challenge to do that.
Biggest distraction: My Girls Father....HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED!!!!! I let him trash my week and I'm still mad about it.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
Favorite parts were the emoji game and miles of pages , I love those 2 and I was so happy to see them back again.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
Gee.....ummmm Which picture book should I choose LOL
Actually Hey, Kiddo was a pretty good graphic. I enjoyed it. I tried REALLY hard to get into the first Temeraire book but I couldn't do it. Today starting the last 50 pages I got sucked in though. Cant wait to finish it later.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
Nope I love the read- a- thons, I wouldn't change anything.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes, but I felt massive guilt during this one because I could not mentally participate so depending on how much drama is going on I may skip the next one.

Diana (dianapharah) | 49 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I read 773 pages and completed 3 books.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I got out of my reading slump which is great but I didn't read the ONE book I wanted to finish. I was on vacation so that slowed down my reading big time.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
Yes! I loved all the books I read; all of them were 5 stars.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
I don't even know if I can choose... Crooked Kingdom was such a fun, fast-paced read that I loved a lot; Man's Search for Meaning was so utterly fascinating and attitude-changing for me and I feel I'll be thinking about this one for a long time; and The Outsiders had such raw storylines/characters, and I cried.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I thought it was very well organized and perfectly handled!

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes! I felt bad that I was gone for a good 5 days of the read-a-thon but hopefully next time I'm more free.

Kathy E | 3334 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I read 2396 pages and 10 books. I read two graphic novels which were over 200 pages each and they just flew by. Anyone looking for a wonderful, fast read that racks up pages try Everyone's a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I exceeded my goal. I don't think I've hit 1000 pages before this readathon. The holidays were busy but that's when I sneaked reading bits and pieces of the graphic novels.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
Yes, I had fun. This was my first time working with a team and it was great.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
Bury Your Dead, the 6th book in the Armand Gamache series by Louise Penney. 5 stars - very emotional - I cried.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
No suggestions. Thanks to the team leaders and mods for all the work.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes.

Yay for the first sentences! I need to go add mine now!

1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
- I read 4 books and 1483 pages!

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
- I didn't really set any goals, but if I had, I wouldn't have predicted that I could finish 4 books and over 1400 pages! The holidays were a distraction, of course, and playing with the spreadsheet made me feel less guilty about not being as productive with my reading.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
- I did! I loved being a team leader and cheering on my team in their reading.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
- Tough one. I really liked Crazy Rich Asians more than I thought I would, but Salt to the Sea was also really excellent. Two totally different books, but I liked each one a lot.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
- I really liked that the goals were harder this time around. Last time, the page, book, and audio goals were a bit too easy to reach, so I'm glad you all made it more difficult. I would like to see the bookshelf tag Read-A-Thon (like we did last January/February) to come back to mix things up a bit.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
- Yes, absolutely!

Rachelnyc | 943 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
1390 pages and 4 books.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I wanted to read at least 3 books so I was very pleased. Just the holidays and the family obligations that goes along with them.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
Yes! I always enjoy the team conversation and seeing what everyone is reading. I also love the miles of pages game.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
This is tough because I actually really liked all of them. I guess I will go with There There because it was such a powerful read.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I agree with Emily about liking that the team challenge was more of a challenge this time around. Other than that, just more of the same!

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Absolutely.

message 7: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina | 393 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
11 books; 3287 pages + 26.5 audio hours
2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
Technically no, but my goal was damn near impossible so I'm still pleased with the results. Biggest distraction was for sure Christmas day.
3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
For sure! I really like the team challenge
4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was certainly an experience...
5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
Can't think of anything!
6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
absolutely!

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3282 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I read a total of 3200 pages! That was way more than I expected to, and it was from a total of 10 books. To be fair, three of those were graphic novels.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I think I did. I didn't have any huge distractions, other than my own self-imposed pressure to try to read more and finish off all my challenges. I ended up finishing off my two highest priority challenges at least, plus one extra.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
I had fun. I liked the games and thought they were a good mix of different kinds, and I liked that none were too difficult or time-consuming (except for that Hidden Books site!). I also liked that for once I actually got a bingo on the individual bingo game!

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
If I exclude rereads, then The Best We Could Do. Otherwise, it would be both Nimona and Nineteen Minutes. Honestly, the other books I picked weren't that great. All ranged from 3 - 4 stars, with quite a few that were really 3.5 that I bumped up because we can't do half stars.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I unfortunately didn't get to check in with my group as much as I expected to, although I did at least once per day. I'm not really sure how challenging the group game was since I don't think I paid enough attention to it. Otherwise, I thought this read-a-thon was great and a lot of fun.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Definitely, provided I have the time to read during them!

Silvia Turcios | 1058 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read? 6 (2 of them were graphic novels) . 1457 pages

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions? Yes! I finished my ATY :D And my big distractions were Christmas and NYE. Those dates I didn't read anything!

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts? A lot and my favorite part were - like always - the games.
4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon? Hmmm. I really like The Night Circus, but I also enjoyed very much Airman and also the graohic novels .... it's difficult to decide ...

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons? No suggestions ... but I missed the games of scramble title and scramble characters.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons? Yes

Thank you everyone for the specific game requests! Sometimes it's difficult to choose games so I will have a good head start for next time :D

message 11: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 3477 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I had an absolute cracker. I finished 15 books. 2,196 pages, plus 40.5 hours of audio. Reading was definitely my full-time job last week.
2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
And then some! My biggest distraction was just on the last day, as we flew to Berlin first thing in the morning, so I didn't get much done that day.
3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
I really enjoyed the individual bingo this time around - I thought it was perfectly balanced.
4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
Probably Storm Front - it was a heap of fun.
5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
My only suggestion would be to maybe just have two teams, and a bigger challenge board. I think more people in the teams make it more fun, as there's just more activity in the conversation threads.
6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes!

Thanks to Laura and the team captains for all of their hard work!
