I finished listening to Alone by Lisa Gardner, Detective D. D. Warren #1, and enjoyed this opener, despite it really not being about the detective just yet. Here’s my review.

I finished Mr. Write by Lisa Clark O'Neill, Sweetwater #1, and loved this story! It’s got some delicious banter and dialogue. Here’s my review.

I’m listening to Killing Fear by Allison Brennan, Prison Break Trilogy #1, and reading Who Slays the Wicked by C.S. Harris, Sebastian St. Cyr #14.

The Cowboy's Christmas Bride (Cowboys of Chance Creek, #9) by Cora Seton The Cowboy's Christmas Bride by Cora Seton on Kindle
I did not read the series in order and was looking for a Christmas story and this was a good one. Cole and Sunshine are sort of engaged and have just finished touring the world for Sunshine to get some cooking ideas as her goal is to open her own restaurant and become a famous vegan chef. They have now returned to Cole's hometown of Chance Creek where his dream is to have his own ranch. Two opposites with different dreams. They each have a special big surprise Christmas gift to each other. They are shipped around to others homes as they have no main place to stay...yet. The stress of these big surprises, the holidays coming will take its toll on both of them. This is a predictable, but sweet, holiday romance. A fun read for the holidays. 5 stars

My Christmas Break Mistake by Anne-Marie Meyer My Christmas Break Mistake or Rule #7 You Can't Forgive Your Ex Best Friend by Anne-Marie Meyer by Anne-Marie Meyer on Kindle. Under two different titles.
It was okay of a read. It started out as a great story, especially regarding mentoring children who come from difficult home lives. Especially during the holidays. I would have liked to see more detail in that. It's a fast, whacky read. It was way too repetitive in dialogue and description between the two main characters. They touched on recovery and rehabilitation for those who deal with addiction. Would have liked more on that they always reading about how she was wronged and he can't talk about it. Not my cup of tea. 2 stars

Her parents are taking a much needed vacation and she will help with the care her brother Ben who has MS. Scott is a big city boy who likes things his way and done his way. The Doctor's Christmas Proposal (The Gallaghers of Montana #3) by Eve Gaddy The Doctor's Christmas Proposal by Eve Gaddy on Kindle
This book had potential, but never got there for me. Dr. Wyatt Gallagher was lied to and evilly betrayed by his ex-fiancé. Now with his brothers wedding on the horizon and another's baby near to be born, the past is coming back to haunt him so he turns to someone who can help him through this. His old best friend, Mia Watson. Now that they are back in the same town, those old feelings start to emerge for her. But Mia has a huge secret from her past and knows she has to tell him. This book sort of dragged on when you knew what the ending was going to be. A lot of the same dialogue and descriptions over and over again. Sorry, it could have been a better story.
This book has strong language and detailed sexual situations. 2 stars

Beatrice's Christmas Blessing by Charity Phillips Beatrice's Christmas Blessing by Charity Phillips on Kindle
A short story about a woman who suddenly loses her loving husband in an accident and is now expecting his baby around Christmas. Beatrice cannot be a burden to her late husbands family with a baby on the way and no income from her husbands work coming in. She answers a mail order bride add for someone who just wants someone to keep house and support her child. She knows she will never love again. When she arrives in Wyoming, she finds the man to be rude, aloof. Certainly not what she thought he would be. She builds a friendship with one of the hired hands. The story has a predictable ending, but its a warm, feel good story. A nice read on a cold winters night. 5 stars

Christmas at The Heartbreak Cafe (Lakeview, #8) by Melissa Hill Christmas at The Heartbreak Cafe by Melissa Hill on Kindle
Ella learns that her beloved cafe is being repossessed. A cafe that has been in the family for years and a staple of the small community. After being talked into prior to the announcement, she was planning a huge Christmas party. Something that had been going on for years. Now this is way to say goodbye and thank the community for all their pasts patronages and friendships. This book tells a loving story of how a whole community has come together. How people changed and put their power, self-centerdness and petty differences aside for a cause. A predictable story, but a touching, warm story. 4 stars

The Christmas Princess (Wedding, #4) by Patricia McLinn The Christmas Princess by Patricia McLinn on Kindle
April and Hunter have a lot of baggage from the past. April is one who gives of herself and gives her all. Hunter is totally devoted to his work, has thick walls around him and his heart. This is a beautiful story of how circumstances, opportunities and love can bring together too people in a wonderful way. And to give open mindedness to others and joy to another. Their romance grows in a magical way. All the characters are well defined and the story flows beautifully. I didn't feel I needed to read the other previous books to understand the characters at all. I can't wait to read the others in the series. This one did have a small cliffhanger, so I have to see what happens next. A wonderful, warm, holiday romance. NOTE: This does contain sex, but in a tasteful way goes with the story. 5 stars

The Gift of a Christmas Scandal Regency Romance by Arietta Richmond The Gift of a Christmas Scandal: Regency Romance by Arietta Chapman in PDF form
Alexander Fortescue, the Duke of Southolton, is to marry a woman he does not love because of his late father's lack of sense of humor. Lady Selina Brancourt has not found the man of her dreams. Literally. And if she does not find one, her father will announce the betrothal to a man she does not like and finds boring. When the two meet at a party the Duke's mother throws, sparks arise and blood warms. They know though that nothing can come of this with both of them set to marry others. Unless...by his lawyers suggestion, a scandal can change things.
This was a very fun, delightful, holiday, historical romance. There is sexual content in the book. I really enjoyed reading this. Another of Arietta's wonderful stories. 5 stars

The Christmas Baby Bundle (Windy City Romance #3.5) by Barbara Lohr The Christmas Baby Bundle by Barbara Lohr on Kindle
Connor and Amanda have been trying to have a baby for a long time. Having gone through invitro and adoption. The strain on their marriage is starting to show from all the stress. They now have an adoption waiting to happen where a young woman is about to give birth and is giving the child to them. Amanda is worried that Angie will change her mind. Connor's family is giving them a huge baby shower prior to Christmas. I felt this story was probably the way some feel in true life. Although, I got tired of reading of all the whining by Amanda. Poor Conor and his family. It was a semi clean, romance with a predictable ending. But all in all, it was a heart warming, feel good on a cold winters day book. I didn't feel it was all that much about romance as it was about patience, family and love for one another. 4 stars
