I didn't think this was the best Nordic murder mystery by any means, but it wasn't too bad and I plan on reading the next book in the series at least.

How did you enjoy Fatelessness? I own a copy but haven't read it yet.

I liked it. It’s different from Night by Elie Wiesel. It was subtle, almost dreamlike, yet the horror of the camps came through. I have had this a long time. I am glad I finally got around to reading it.

23. Italian: The Leopard by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa (main text translated by Archibald Colquhoun, appendix translated by Guido Waldman).

I really liked this book.

I remember liking The Leopard too.
I think I will be moving Fatelessness up on my tbr list. 😀

Thanks Bela, you will have to let me know what you think of them. I liked all of them, and I want to read more from each author, but if I had to pick my 3 favorite, they would be Don Quixote, The Leopard and Please Look After Mom.

Wow! Congrats, that was so fast! I have Invisible Planets, The Glass Bead, and Don Casmurro on my list to read this year! I started Don Quixote last year but didn’t get very far. It’s so daunting but it’s encouraging that you enjoyed it so much!

It took me 5 times trying to read Don Quixote over the years before I was able to get beyond the first few chapters. I think the Edith Grossman's modern translation is the reason I was able to read it. I had the same problem with War and Peace.
