When I started this scifi/speculative fiction Half Way Home by Hugh Howey, I didn't think it was going to rate quite so high, but the clever plot and the nicely resolved ending won me over. Thanks to NetGalley.

I just finished a historical fiction QLD literary award winner. A fair bit of excellent history of Brisbane and WWII in it but I only give it three stars and am a bit angry with it.

Just finished
by Nathan W. PyleThis book is never going to meet the requirements for our challenges, but it is a lovely piece of whimsy, and I recommend to anyone who has found 2019 to be a less than stellar year!

My review for
The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsendhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Great first book in this Aussie authored series - would make a wonderful Christmas present for any one 10 years or older ☺
Another good Christmas present for kids would be this one. Winter Sleep: A Hibernation Story by Sean Taylor and Alex Morss is a delightful and informative kids' picture book. The illustrations by Cinyee Chiu make it special. Good gift book for grandparents!

My review of
The Woman in the Veil by Laura Joh Rowland, #4 in a Victorian mystery series , which somehow for me totally lacked that Victorian atmosphere.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Sci-fi with a message: Aussie author Claire G. Coleman second novel, The Old Lie was not at all what I was expecting. A powerful, heart-breaking and thought-provoking read.4.5★s

The Shape of Night is something quite different from Tess Gerritsen and it won't be to everyone's taste, with paranormal and some BDSM. 4.5★s
