I've read a lot this new year but its been mostly all the same kind of stuff. I got into reverse harems this year, which is a bit new for me.

I fell into a rabbit hole back in Feb? that was simply...porn for the most part. It wasn't particularly well written nor was I that interested...but I was just shocked by the subject matters so I kept reading what Ammy rec'd. 80+ books of BS I didn't even track here because it was O_O

Truth.This morning, I came across a short discussion on Reddit (in the comments of another discussion) arguing the merits, or lack thereof, of Chuck Tingle. I just started laughing to myself.

I just went through my 2019-to-read-maybe list and put holds on the ones with the longest waits. So I have 6 holds in, with the shortest being a month and the longest being... 5 months. LOL I REALLY hope a few people cancel holds or know how to return books early.
With your luck they will all arrive at the same time :P

Yeah, probably. :D They do tend to roll in in batches no matter how well I plan it out.
Of course at least three months will have elapsed and you'll have requested more books that then all come at the same time.My current pile of stuff I need to read right now is 6. Hopefully I'll make it through four of them. I'll try to renew some next week hopefully to buy myself another week.
I haven't borrowed like I normally do from the library - racked up too many fines that last time trying to get it all read. O_O

I tend to lose track or just start smacking the "request hold" button indiscriminately, and that keeps the number visible. I also use a Chrome extension that shows library availability / current hold numbers for Overdrive ebooks on Goodreads so I can just pull up that shelf and see if any of them are getting closer. It's not a perfect system, but it helps. LOL
I've not been to the library for a while. It's not very convenient for me to read paper books any more as most of my reading is in bed and my husband has to sleep early a lot of nights. With the Kindle I can read without having extra light on, so it doesn't bother him.Also I'm running out of books I want to read in my library as I prefer to read in english and they have a fairly small amount of interesting (to me) books in english.
I have KU at the moment though, not like I'm gonna run out of books :P
I am thinking of going before Easter, it's kinda tradition in Norway to read crime stories at Easter so I might borrow something for that :)

Can you tell me more about the tradition? I'm curious as to how it came about and why. (And I love any tradition that involves reading!)
I'm not sure, but I think its the fact that a lot of Norwegians go to their cabins in the mountains, and a few years back no one had tv if they even had electricity. And so they would read more instead I guess? It being crime books I think is mostly because that is a popular genre here.
Actually I just googled it. Apparently it started with an ad in 1923 for a crime book and it sold really well, so after that a lot of crime books were published for Easter :)
A lot of TV channels have crimes on for Easter as well :D

Oh man. Those dudes in rabbit suits are soooo creepy. The last one I saw was kinda...grungy. Like the suit needed a bath.And I have felt some way about about puppets and people in those outfits ever since reading Hand In Glove.

Covers post is updated, and slightly modified - I separated them by month. I'm at 21 books for the year so far.I still need one more book for my MASH. LOL I actually have a book from earlier in the year that could technically fit the one I'm missing but it feels like a stretch so I'm waiting.
I requested that my library buy a book, and they did! I made the request just a few days ago and I just got the email notice that it's been added and I got the first checkout. So I guess after I finish my current book, I'll be reading The Village Witch Doctor and Other Stories.
It looks like I'm in a slump, but I'm really not. I've got all these other things that involve reading but aren't getting logged here, plus a stack of non-fiction works that I dip in and out of. I've put some of the latter on a "non-contiguous reads" shelf just so that I can keep track of them.There are even more books I'm reading that won't get listed here for various reasons.
But I'm okay with my numbers not being 100% accurate at the moment.
The important thing is that you enjoy it after all! <3

This is just a minor downside of sometimes studying obscure topics that you don't necessarily want to broadcast to the world. LOL

It's not that interesting in reality, but my tarot studies involve some classic works in occult / mysticism areas. Since my GR is linked to my real name, I'd rather avoid misunderstandings. LOL

LOL I have at least one Reddit tab open in my browser at all times (usually more like 5 or 6), plus I have the Reddit Is Fun app on my tablet (the best reddit app, in my opinion). I've been using Reddit for 4+ years now and it's just become part of my daily existence. :D

Reddit is great but its a time sink. A real time sink.
It can definitely be a time sink of the rabbit-hole variety. But, I have learned a TON of stuff on there, been directed to incredible books and other resources, etc. I've also given back by trying to help out other people. I wouldn't even want to try to calculate wasted hours vs. productive hours I've spent on Reddit, though. I doubt it would come out favorably. LOL
I updated my covers post. I still haven't finished my MASH. Still waiting for that one book that fits. LOL
I have like 5 paper books on the go that I haven't bothered adding because I'm dipping in and out of them, but I did finally mark Holistic Tarot: An Integrative Approach to Using Tarot for Personal Growth as Currently Reading. I'm working through the study guides that the author has on her web site, so I'm basically reading about a chapter each night, though I take some nights off from it to work with other sources.
It's a big ass book.
For anyone who likes horror short stories, I highly recommend the Chiral Mad books. I've read the first 3, haven't started the 4th yet. There were a few duds in the volumes, but overall I found them to be quite good.
It's your fault, you influencer you! Fell into the Reddit hole, but I'm doing better now. Now limited threads to gadget things (kindle, audible, etc.). Funny thing is that I've never even been to Reddit before except via links to answer specific questions. Weird.

Welcome to the rabbit hole! :D Lately I've been spending a lot of time in the Journaling, Fountain Pens and Tarot subreddits. I use the Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES) extension for Chrome that lets me customize a link bar at the very top of the page. I make sure to put my current interests there, so I spend less time wandering aimlessly and more time reading the stuff that's actually relevant to me at the moment.
It has other cool features too, but that link bar is pretty awesome.
