Like Macbeth & Macbeth? seems fair to me!"

Oooh, that looks like an interesting pair! I was thinking more along the lines of an Agatha Christie novel and then its stage adaptation of the same name. I'm hoping to make some progress on my Christie challenge next year, since I seem to have stalled out this year.

Brooke | 273 comments The One That Got Away by Simon Wood
The One That Got Away by Leigh Himes
I've read both and thought both were okay. The Simon Wood book is a mystery/thriller and the Leigh Himes book is chick-lit of the amnesia & "what if I made a different romantic choice" variety.

I am adding the two Away titles for this one! Thank you!

message 54: by Brooke (new)

Brooke | 273 comments Another option for those who are okay with a tiny stretch:
Still Life by Louise Penny (#1 in the Inspector Gamache series)
Still Lives by Maria Hummel (mystery/thriller and a Reese Witherspoon pick)
I am probably going with this pairing because I already own both and have been wanting to start the Inspector Gamache series for years.

My back up choice is:
Ink and Bone by Lisa Unger
Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine
I own both of them as well and accidentally keep forgetting about them when shiny new books arrive.

message 55: by Rachael (new)

Rachael | 136 comments I feel like lots of thrillers often have the same name, it's not exactly a world of imaginative titles!

I'll probably go for
Pop Goes the Weasel by James Patterson

and

Pop Goes the Weasel by M.J. Arlidge

message 57: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (dg_reads) I noticed how many books there were with "Bittersweet" as a title when searching for bitter, sweet, etc. so may go down that road and pick a few.

Katy, this is an excellent idea. I may now just do that. Thank you so much!

message 59: by Milena (new)

Milena (milenas) | 1198 comments I'm going to try:
Born to Run and
Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen

I would do Dark Matter and Dark Matter if I hadn't read the Blake Crouch one already.

message 60: by Shelley (last edited Nov 12, 2018 06:03PM) (new)

Shelley | 231 comments I'm seeing so many good ones that I've already read one side of!

ETA: One of my favorite books has a very unfortunate close title. It's not exact, but it makes it extremely difficult to search for stuff about it and has become a running joke for fans. I'm simple throwing this out there as an option, nothing more.
Shades of Grey (Shades of Grey, #1) by Jasper Fforde Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James

Tracy (tracyisreading) | 608 comments Bittersweet.... huh, I actually have this on my kindle ( in addition to a physical copy of its opposite Sweetbitter, LOL... I guess it will depend on my mood and if I actually read this prompt ( which is maybe my least favorite)
WRONG THREAD OMG
I've been in and out of these threads so often, I'm getting lost.......HELP!!!!!!!!! Every time I catch up there are 50 + more replies. I've been going in circles since the challenge came out LOL

This is why I didn't get any work done this weekend. I was too busy reading the threads and planning!

Christine H | 496 comments Milena wrote: "I would do Dark Matter and Dark Matter if I hadn't read the Blake Crouch one already."

There's actually quite a few Dark Matters! (And the Paver one is among my favorite books - highly recommend!)

Here are the three from my read/tbr lists:
Dark Matter]
Dark Matter
Dark Matter: A Century of Speculative Fiction from the African Diaspora

Another fertile area is "Ghost Stories" - I already had two on my list:
Ghost Stories
Ghost Stories: 20 Famous Modern Ghost Stories

Also:

House of Echoes
House of Echoes

The Outsider
The Outsider And Others

message 66: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Morrison | 145 comments I have Silent Night by Robert B. Parker and there is a Silent Night by Mary Higgins Clark so I’ll probably save these for the end of the year and get some holiday mysteries in.

message 67: by Milena (new)

Milena (milenas) | 1198 comments Thanks for the Dark Matter suggestions everyone. I am into scifi.

message 68: by Kenya (new)

Kenya Starflight | 985 comments I might be cheating a bit here, since one of mine has the identical part of the title as a subtitle -- my picks were Apocalypse Weird: The Red King and The Red King.

message 69: by Melody (new)

Melody (melodywicket) | 25 comments Gonna give this a bit more thought, but I do already happen to have two books on my shelf that suit this prompt:

Heartless by Marissa Meyer Heartless (Parasol Protectorate, #4) by Gail Carriger

message 70: by Leanne (new)

Leanne Colton (ohiogirl1975) I just happened to pick up these books at the air museum on vacation last month. I guess I know what I'm reading for this prompt. Fly Girls: How Five Daring Women Defied All Odds and Made Aviation History and Fly Girls: The Forgotten Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII

message 71: by Hope (last edited Nov 13, 2018 07:27PM) (new)

Hope The Thief (The Queen's Thief, #1) by Megan Whalen Turner & The Thief by Fuminori Nakamura
Nightlife (Cal Leandros #1) by Rob Thurman & Night Life (Nocturne City, #1) by Caitlin Kittredge
The Child Thief by Brom & The Child Thief by Dan Smith
Night Watch (Watch #1) by Sergei Lukyanenko & Night Watch (Discworld, #29; City Watch, #6) by Terry Pratchett &/or Night Watch (Kendra Michaels, #4) by Iris Johansen
Or if you want close but not exact...
Prince of Thorns (The Broken Empire, #1) by Mark Lawrence & Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay

message 72: by Aimee Dars (last edited Nov 13, 2018 11:33PM) (new)

Aimee Dars (aimeedars) | 102 comments Gone by Jonathan Kellerman
Gone by Lisa Jewell
and more!

The Forever War by Joe Haldeman
The Forever War by Dexter Filkins

A Person of Interest by Susan Choi
Person of Interest by Theresa Schwegel

Wish You Were Here by Stewart O'Nan
Wish You Were Here by Graham Swift
Wish You Were Here by Renee Carlino

The Borrower by Rebecca Makkai
The Borrowed by Chan Ho-Kei

This is a bit of a stretch but
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and
The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle are similar, depending on how strict you want to be. The 7-1/2 deaths was actually originally released as The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle but the publisher thought the two titles were too much alike so added the"-1/2" for the US edition!

Those two "seven" books have been taunting me all year! I'm happy that I've found slots for both of them in next year's challenges so I can satisfy my curiosity. There is also a "Lady Eleanor's Seventh Suitor" which is a near match.

message 79: by Derick (new)

Derick | 5 comments I’ve been wanting to read these for awhile now:

March by Geraldine Brooks
The March by E.L. Doctorow

message 80: by Lindi (new)

Lindi (lindimarie) I was dreading this a little until I realized I have The Alchemist and The Alchemyst on my TBR already!

message 81: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 1756 comments Well I seem to be drawn to books with unusual names but I've found a few maybes...

Contagion by Erin Bowman
Contagion by Teri Terry

Night Shift by Stephen King
Night Shift by Charlaine Harris
Night Shift by Lilith Saintcrow

Beloved by Toni Morrison
The Beloved by Alison Rattle

I've already read the Mo Hayder Skin but these might work for someone else:
Skin by Mo Hayder
Skin by Ilka Tampke

(I've read the Mira Grant)
Feed by M.T. Anderson
Feed by Mira Grant
The Feed by Nick Clarke Windo

message 82: by Conny (new)

Conny | 145 comments For those like me whose native language isn't English but who can read English just fine on top of their actual mother tongue, it is also possible to pair two books that have the same title in different languages without actually being the same books.
Titles in translation are a great source of stuff like that^^

message 84: by Mie (new)

Mie | 29 comments Okay, so Poison looks good and popular - just wish, I could find another one to pair it with... Hahahaha...

I think I will go for:
Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer
Paths of Glory by Humphrey Cobb

message 86: by Catka (new)

Catka | 9 comments A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby is one of my favorites. funny book about suicide, with dry english humor, what's not to like.
and that seems to be quite a popular title with other authors too.

message 87: by Shasta (new)

Shasta | 49 comments I'm leaning towards these:

Because I like books about pandemics/viruses:
The Hot Zone: The Terrifying True Story of the Origins of the Ebola Virus by Richard Preston
Hot Zone by Steven Konkoly

Because I love that there are two books with the same title both written by Steves:
The Liar by Stephen Fry
The Liar by Steve Cavanagh

Because I haven't read the first in decades and I love/want to learn more about the women authors in the second:
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
Outsiders: Five Women Writers Who Changed the World by Lyndall Gordon

Anne (annefullercoxnet) | 204 comments I noticed there were several titled Zodiac when I was looking at the astrology prompt.

message 89: by Brooke (new)

message 91: by Kim (last edited Nov 16, 2018 04:25PM) (new)

Kim | 215 comments I know exactly what books I'm going to read for this! I was actually going to do this as a sort of personal challenge this year, so I was thrilled to see it as an official prompt!

While looking up At the Water's Edge, by Sarah Gruen, for my ancestry prompt this year, I found so many Water's Edge titles, that I started adding them to my Overdrive wish lists!

I think I'll read, The Water's Edge by Karin Fossum and The Water's Edge, by Daniel Judson.

And for good measure, I might read, Water's Edge, by Robert Whitlow, for my book with two words in the title.

I might also continue to keep looking for books with my favorite color, Green, in the title. I started reading those this year, just as a sub-challenge.

message 92: by Chrissi (new)

Chrissi (clewand84) | 238 comments I've got two possibilities:

Beast by Donna Jo Napoli
and
Beast by Brie Spangler
and
Beast by Peter Benchley

or I may go with

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
and
The Red Queen by Philippa Gregory
because I'm a glutton for Gregory's books after using two of them for last year's challenge.

message 93: by Marie-Claude (new)

Marie-Claude | 12 comments I would suggest these two:

Tooth and Claw by Jo Walton, if you like dragons in your victorian novels (I do).

Tooth and Claw by TC Boyle; the short story "Chicxulub", which you can find in this book, is possibly one of the best I have ever read.

(There are also a lot of other books with that title.)
