Bill We're getting near the end of the alphabet now and I think some letters will not have a great number of authors so I'm going to combine he letters T, U and V for this 2nd last category.

As always,

1. do NOT nominate your own book
2. do NOT have your publicist nominate your book
3. if you nominate the winning book, you are the moderator for the discussion. If you don't want to lead the discussion, don't nominate a book.

Other than that, have fun with your choices!

message 2: by Bill (new)

Bill Do not nominate these four books as we've discussed them within the last few years. But feel free to nominate other books by the same authors if you wish.

a. Fred Vargas - The Three Evangelists
b. Josephine Tey - The Daughter of Time
c. Lisa Unger - In the Blood
d. Todd M. Thiede - Time Killer

I know we don't have to second but if we did I'd second that :-)

It's such a good book. I've read it like 3 times and I still enjoy it. My favorite of all of Vine's books (as Vine).

Patty | 4458 comments I love The Dark Adapted Eye as well.

Gods of The Nowhere A Novel of Halloween by James Tipper"

It's a great idea, Jamie, but it doesn't really sound like a mystery. I'll keep it in mind though, unless you have another option.

Whoops, I'm sorry. Well is anyone interested in The Other by Thomas Tryon?

Jess Penhallow | 41 comments I would like to nominate The Girl in 6E by A.R. Torre

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I nominate

The Getaway by Jim Thompson
The Getaway

by the one and only Jim Thompson

It's short, and it's a stand-alone so there's no need to commit to a lengthy series. The book served as the basis for two movie versions including the original with Mr. Aviator sunglasses, Steve McQueen. A classic crime book!

It might be difficult to find copies. Mind you I did see 8 on Abe Books. I'll add it to the list. The goodreads listing doesn't have a synopsis. Can you provide one?

message 18: by Suzy (new)

Suzy (goodreadscomsuzy_hillard) | 702 comments I'll nominate A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas, first in a series. I've been wanting to read it for a while.

Hate to say this Jess but that is by far the worst book I've read. It didn't even feel right giving 1 star, that was far more praise than it deserved. I reviewed it 2 or 3 years ago, genuinely terrible.

Oh no! It's on my TBR after I thought the premise sounded interesting. Looks like it's winning the poll at the moment. At least we might get some god rant reviews if everyone feels similarly to you!

Yes, it did sound interesting enough for me to buy it too. It does belong more in the erotic fiction genre than crime/thriller though. There will be some interesting responses no doubt. I hope you get far more joy out of it than I did.
