Caroline wrote: "The autobiographies I'm reading are One from the Hart and Pieces of My Heart A Life. Ah, Hart to Hart! Now that was romance and mystery combined! ..."What a great idea! I'm going to add those books to my To Read list. I used to love that show!
Yes, Kate - RJ was one of my first loves (aside from Illya Kuryakin LOL) and no matter what age, I still love him. Finished
and am eagerly awaiting more books in the Rick Riordan series (both this one and the Kane Chronicles). It's a shame authors and publishers can't work as fast as I can read. ; )
Just finished
. This is one of those books I wish I hadn't discovered until *after* all three books had been published. I started this book on a Friday and hardly put it down until I finished on the Sunday morning. The author did a stunning job of making the writing so vivid, I was there in the story watching it unfold like a movie, much more vividly than I normally am able to do. Books about magic are a treat for me and this one was not at all disappointing, with plenty of action and a nice balance, I think, between giving enough information to be vivid, but not enough to be graphic. It's going to really suck having to wait until next year for the next book.

Melodie - I'll be interested to see if you liked it as much as I did - and if you see the same possible similarities to Twilight as I did. :)
I just finished
by Sarah Addison Allen. Very enjoyable, but I felt like it ended too soon. I guess that's a good thing. I've enjoyed all her books, but feel like her first two books
and
were better.
Spent the afternoon holed up inside reading The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis, and trying to ignore the wind and sleety stuff pinging against my windows.
One of my reading goals for the year is to reread this series. Or, as the case may be, read the entire series, since I can only remember reading three of them for certain. As this one did not seem at all familiar to me, I do not think I got round to reading it back in fifth grade. A good, fast read.

Lol!
When not reading a cozy, I am reading a paranormal or urban fantasy book. Love love love Patricia Briggs, Yasmine Galenorn, Christine Warren, and lots of others. Reading Wolf at the Door by Christine Warren right now. Should be finished by this afternoon. Highly recommend it if you like paranormal romance with shape shifters. :)
Kaye: Sadly, I didn't really start keeping track until 8th or 9th grade, though I can remember some of the books I read prior to that. :-P~~~
I'm in the middle of In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Philbrick. NOT at all cozy!
Judy wrote: "I'm in the middle of In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Philbrick. NOT at all cozy!"Judy, how are finding this book? Is it dry or really interesting? I have his Mayflower on my wish list.
Kaye, I finished it last night and it was really good. It's gruesome in parts, but it's a page turner. I'm considering Mayflower too.
Judy wrote: "Kaye, I finished it last night and it was really good. It's gruesome in parts, but it's a page turner. I'm considering Mayflower too."Thanks! Glad to know you enjoyed it and I'm sure there were some gruesome parts. Have you ever read Cape Cod or Back Bay by William Martin? Really good stories with a little bit of mystery in them.
I'm reading The Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte by Syrie James. I think I'm also going to start Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë; I'm looking forward to the new movie that opens in March.
I finished two not-cozies:Play Deadby John Levitt (urban fantasy--the last in a really great series. It counts as a mystery because always has a good mystery plot in his work.)
A Scream of Angelsis more fantasy than anything, but it's sort of urban fantasy. I liked the first (The Heretic) in the series better.
Starting The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender, which is a GR First Reads win received this week.
Heather L wrote: "Starting The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender, which is a GR First Reads win received this week."Congrats on the win, Heather. I hope you enjoy the book.
Heather L wrote: "Thanks, Kaye. Only about 50 pages in and so far it's...interesting. Definitely different."I hope that's a "different" good!
I'm starting
Staying at Daisy's today for review next month. I love her books - they're always good for a laugh.
Dru wrote: "I just finished

Finished reading The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake Saturday afternoon. Good writing, good story, but...strange. Especially the last quarter of the book. I did like it, but my first thought upon fishing was, "I'm supposed to write a review on this?!" I have no idea how to go about doing so without ruining the ending.
Saturday evening I start something completely different, Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost and am really liking it.

My latest was
I only gave it three stars because it isn't quite as thrilling as some non-fictions I've read. Some authors have a knack for making true histories sound like novels, and this was a bit more like reading a history book. But it was good and I read it in a day.
Cool, Judy! I read that book too and occasionally thought I might be the only one. I thought it was really interesting that the alcohol tax in PA was originally approved for relief of the flood victims and is still in effect today! Ain't it amazing how those legislators love to tax us?
I am thoroughly enjoying
. It is such an intriguing story. I love the characters and the writing style. It kind of reminds me of Harry Potter with all the magic. It also had similarities to Twilight at the beginning but the farther I get into it the less I similarities I see.-Kimmie

Or not. :). Either way, loved this book!
I'm now reading Undead and Unreturnableby MaryJanice Davidson. I love this series and this author!!!
I just finished Coraline by Neil Gaiman, which was my March Read Across America book. I liked the movie and didn't even know it was a book until recently. If any of you guys have read it let me know because I have a question.

Finished Halfway to the Grave and One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost, my first introduction to this series. Am looking forward to reading more of it!
Maria, through sheer serendipity, I discovered that I like Neil Gaiman's books immensely when listening to them via a CD, but not so much when reading them. No idea why, but there you go...
Laura wrote: "Maria, through sheer serendipity, I discovered that I like Neil Gaiman's books immensely when listening to them via a CD, but not so much when reading them. No idea why, but there you go..." I've heard other people say they can listen to some books and have to read others. I'm not much for audio, but I do have a road trip coming up and it's really hard to find ANYTHING I haven't read on audio. I've been looking into Alan Dean Foster. My library has a few of his (although I wanted Shadowkeep and it's not on audio.) I've got two Bill Bryson's so far. But I'd like some sort of fiction/fun/adventurous if I can find it...Thanks for the input. The library probably has his in audio.
I was thinking about listening to Coraline on audiobook now that I've read it. I really, really liked The Graveyard Book and that would work on audio too I imagine.
Susan wrote: "I'm now reading Undead and Unreturnableby MaryJanice Davidson. I love this series and this author!!!"I used to love this series, but the last 2, particularly the last one, turned me off the series! Won't bother with any more!
Heidi I wrote: "Maria I second Neil Gaiman on audio. I also liked Bill Bryson a Walk in the Woods on audio." I'm not sure I have Walk in the Woods. I think Sunshine is in the title. No wait-the other one IS Walk in the Woods. Goodie. We'll see what the library has available. I read the first few pages of graveyard and it didn't grab me at all and I usually like that kind of thing.
