Kathy Jo (kjsotr) | 304 comments I finished "The Prince and the Pauper" last night, which counts for an orange cover. It is a ATY book, and 166 pages.

Thanks Kathy Jo,
That completes another prompt. We have 8 squares checked off.

I put The Scorpio Races on the spreadsheet. And added Different Seasons to my own TBR list, since I love Stephen King and haven't read that.

I agree with your Square 13 guess. Still thinking about the others.

Kathy Jo (kjsotr) | 304 comments I participated in Kickoff, Miles of Pages, completed books.

I read a poem- I have a sonnet book I want to tackle, so I chose a couple from there. But I will report "Once by the Pacific" by Robert Frost.

Book recommendation: unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand

message 56: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 943 comments I finished Beneath a Scarlet Sky which checks off author who has published more than 10 books.

It was also an AtY book but will be my only one for that category because I just completed my challenge!

I am also going to make that book my recommendation. Every time I think I'm finished with books set during WWII, I find one with a unique hook, this one being based on a real person who became a spy for the resistance while acting as a driver for a senior Nazi General.

I've also participated in all the games so far.

Great! We need one more completed book to get to 10. How pages did this cover. I have 112 from yesterday. Is that all or can we up the total?

message 60: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Morrison | 478 comments My book recommendation is The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

Edie | 1144 comments Brittany wrote: "My book recommendation is The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman"

I loved that book. Thanks to a challenge last year, I discovered Neil Gaiman.

Your 111 pages put us within 20 pages of hitting 1000 pages read! I have read enough to put us over, but it's parts of several books and I have been waiting until I finish.

message 62: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 943 comments I read another 145 pages to complete Beneath a Scarlet Sky.

It's WWI but I loved The Care and Management of Lies by Jacqueline Winspear. It is the story of a wife left behind in England while her husband fits in France. The lies being the letters she writes to him describing what she is cooking. Really it is a great book.

I'm updating the board now for all the squares through message 51.

I did the same as on my team, adding some squares over some of the more revealing text on the covers. Just to make it a little more challenging.

message 65: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (sgiffin) | 146 comments Ooh, the book in 16/21 is one of my favorite series: (view spoiler)

message 66: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (sgiffin) | 146 comments Also, my book recommendation is for anyone that enjoys epic space battles and science/military details: Into the Black is the first book in the Odyssey One series and it's quite fun.

message 69: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (sgiffin) | 146 comments I read my poem today - read "The Sleeper" by Edgar Allan Poe. Not my favorite Poe poem, but not bad either.

message 70: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 943 comments I took a peak at the other team discussions and they have a larger version of the board displayed in a separate post than the header.

Does anyone know how to do that for us? I'm not sure if it's the larger board or if it's just coincidence but I can recognize practically every book on the other team boards but only the very obvious one on the lower left of ours.

message 71: by Kathy Jo (new)

Kathy Jo (kjsotr) | 304 comments I am working on "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire", by Jim Cymbala, which is non fiction. I also participated in the Get to Know You game

I'm updating your board now. I can add a full size image link at the bottom.

message 78: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) Finally finished a book to add to the spreadsheet. I read Testament of Youth 661 pages. (I will choose some shorter ones for the rest of the week). I will use this for #16 on the ATY - Narrative Non-Fiction. This book was published in AUGUST 1933.

I cannot update the spreadsheet, but I would prefer that Edie choose where this is best used anyway.

message 79: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) AND, I recommend A Gentleman in Moscow for anyone who has not read it. It is one of the best books I have read in the last three years.

I agree with this recommendation, one of my favorite reads this year. Will update the sheet later this morning.

message 81: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments Wow the group has been very active this weekend. I'm always less active in the weekend but will be reading more during the week.

My book recommendation is A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan. It is the first book in a 5 book fantasy series: The Memoirs of Lady Trent. It starts a bit slow but I really enjoyed this series.

That cover under 4 and 10 looks familiar, but I don't know what it is. Going to think about it.

message 82: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments I found it, the cover under 4 and 10: (view spoiler)

message 83: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) I played the Book Title Synonyms and Antonyms game. Great fun. I missed one. :(

Great Sara,
This contributed to filling in 3 new boxes! Yeah! I put it into non-fiction since no one had finished a book there. This is the 10th finished book and the 3rd book finished for the ATY challenge.

message 86: by Silvia (new)

Silvia Turcios | 1058 comments Lieke wrote: "I found it, the cover under 4 and 10: [spoilers removed]"

You are right!! This is great! So we are just missing the one on 1-7 ... or has someone already guessed and I missed it? :P

The larger image does help. We have now also finished 3, 20 and 22.

Great! We have four of the six covers identified and it's only Monday. We will be getting a peak at another square in the top middle. Now we need to get a look at some squares in the bottom right section. I think there are team members working on a mystery and a book in translation which will help on that area.

Erica | 555 comments I’m at 524 pages now. I’ll finish The Cabin at the End of the World sometime today (it’s Tuesday morning here).

message 93: by Sara (new)

Sara (phantomswife) Edie, maybe you want to move Testament of Youth to the published in August/September prompt and then Erin's The Argonauts will fill the non-fiction slot. If, of course, moving is allowed.

I don't see any issues with moving them around.

Let me know if you definitely want to do that and I can reveal that square.

I don't see why we can't move things. I am happy to move Testament of Youth to the published in August/September prompt. I have been puzzling over how to find books for that. None of the books I have, have any month indicated. I know that when books come out, they do come out in months and if Testament of Youth fits that prompt, let's get it checked off!

My plan is to keep recording books in prompts that may have been covered. First priority will be a prompt NOT covered, but after that the stars of Team 2 can double cover some prompts. So please let me know if you finish a book for a prompt already covered and I can put it in the grid. The two books I am reading fit prompts that are covered.

Other teams have asked for a second board to be made. I would be happy to create another one if the team is interested.

Updating the board now.

message 98: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1144 comments Laura, Please create a 2nd board for Team 2.

Team 2, we will now have a place to record all the great reading is that is going on. And a new grid to look at. Sara and Erica, I know both of you have exceeded 500 pages. I won't add in your extra pages (the new limit will be 1000 pages) until we have reached 2500 as a team for board 1. Please keep track of your pages, so once we can add them we can add them all.

I suspect it may be a day or so before we get our new board.
In the mean time let me know about finished books and where to place them. Go Team!

We still have some blanks

message 99: by Kathy Jo (last edited Aug 27, 2018 06:43PM) (new)

Kathy Jo (kjsotr) | 304 comments I finished Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire for 185 pages. It fits nonfiction but looks like that is already covered.

Totals:
2 books (both for ATY)
345 pages

Edit to add: I also played the synonym/ antonym game today.

message 100: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1144 comments Great! We are going to get a second board, so your non-fiction book can take care of that square on the new board.
