Elements of the Heart (Red and Gemma)
CoraI feel a little heated when I absorbed his heat. I looked back at Sean when I see him literally disappear into lightning and successfully knock out the guy. I sigh in relief when I go to the guys side and just touch at his vitals.
“His heart is tachycardic.” I tell him and just worked on just tying him up again. I looked at Sean once more and just made sure that he had his powers under control before I put my shadows down.
“You Okay?”
SeanThe guy goes down and the girl comes over to check him. She works on trying to tie him back up and I chuckle and just pull out some elemental handcuff to cuff him with. She looks at me and asks if I am okay.
"Yea, I'm good. How about you?" I ask her.

I looked at him and just smiled at him when he asks if I’m okay. “Mmm feel toasty.” I tell him before I took a step back and feel around the area. Cops are pulling up and I had to go. I looked at him one more time before I gave him a sympathetic look.
“It’s best if you never find out who I am.” I whispered to him and turned around to disappear from the scene and into my shadows.

She looks at me and smiles a little says she feels toasty. She takes a step back and the other officers show up. She looks at me sympathetically before she whispers it is best if I never find out who she is and she turns around to disappear into the shadows before I can even reply.
I sigh a little disappointed that she left so suddenly. That she didn't want me to know who she was. Why was it such a secret? I turn to the other officers and tells them I took down the guy on my own when I saw him giving the other officers trouble.
ShayneI was groaning a little bit when the stupid elevator malfunctioned again. “I swear they really need to upgrade this building soon.” I grumble under my breath before I start pushing a number againbut the floor wouldn’t move.
I pressed on the help button but of course the thing wasn’t ringing. I looked at my phone and saw that I had signal.
“I’m reaching out to Dick.”
JuniHe groans a bit and grumbles that they need to upgrade this building soon. He presses the buttons that don't work and tells me he is going to try and reach out to Patricks.
"Okay." I say closing my eyes a little trying to breath normally. I didn't like the dark and I really didn't like enclosed spaces like this. Not to mention the fears of the elevator falling. I mean the thing was ancient.
ShayneI notice a hesitation of her breathing and I’m slightly alarmed. I look at her and realized that she was just trying to be as zen as possible. I turn on the flashlight option of the phone and just stood next to her.
“So the dark is your kryptonite?” I asked her trying to just talk to her. In the two months I’ve known her I just see her as the shoot first ask questions later type of girl.
JuniHe flicks on the flashlight option for his phone and stands next to me. I relax a little able to see again and not be surrounded by darkness. He asks me if the dark is my kryptonite.
"Sometimes." I say calming a little. "Not a fan of it. Really not a fan of enclosed spaces like this." I cringe a little, my skin feeling like it was crawling.
I don't know why I don't like enclosed spaces or the dark. I mean I didn't have any traumatic events that would cause it but I just have always had this thing about it.
ShayneI reached out to her and just lightly held her pinkey, just so she could at least feel like she wasn't alone on this. I didn't say anything not wanting to just push her buttons or anything. I mean i wouldn't like for someone to literally just shove a clown mask in front of me while i sleep.
"Well don't worry hopefully it won't take long for Dick to come back." I tell her.
Cora
I get to my upstate studio apartment and just went to go take a quick shower before i went to my laptop and set up my journal entry for today. What i found and everything. I like to keep a detail account about my outings and work.
Until i get a phone call.
"hello?" I answered and it was my dad on the other end, asking me to work in the station. Because on the high risk demand on the icyn case he wanted to create two teams with the existing detectives he has. SHit! That meant with Patricks and Shayne.
JuniI feel him wrap his pinky around mine and for a moment it kind of soothes me. He tells me hopefully it won't take Patricks too long to come back here. I nod a little.
"Hopefully." I agree and sigh as I sit down on the elevator floor. I focus on staying calm and not freaking out even through every passing minute puts me more on edge.
Sean
"Well shit." I say seeming a missed call. I click the voicemail and hear that Lennox and Fernandez are stuck in the elevator at the station. I hop I my cruiser and hurry back there to see if I can help them get out of that thing.
CoraI let out a frustrated sigh, once he places mom in the conversation i know that if i don't say yes i'm going to hear about it for a while.
"Fine dad, who would be my partner then?" I asked him just curling up in my chair a bit while i notated my last notes.
"his name is Sean Patricks good detective, one of the best." He is so confident in his plan and i am literally trying not to lose it.. Oh great!
Shayne
I looked over at Lennox and just stayed quiet for a little bit, i get a text message for Sean and thankfully it said that he'll be there soon. I looked at the ceiling and just let out a sigh.
"So, do you like to be called Lennox or do you go to an informal approach and just call you Juni?" I asked her.
JuniWe are both quiet for a bit. His phone pings, hopefully Patricks telling us he was on his way to help. I glance over as he sighs and asks me if I like being called Lennox or do I go for more of an informal approach.
"Honestly I don't really care either way. Everyone just started calling me by my last name here. I figured it was some thing you all do so I just went with it. Juni is fine too. Just don't call me Juniper. I hate my full name." I say crinkling my nose a little.
ShayneI looked back at her and smiled when she said that she just didn’t like her first name at all in that format. “I mean it’s not that bad. I’ve heard way worse. Yours is just in the normal category.” I tell her and just stayed quiet for a moment longer. There was something that was eating me up a bit.
“Why did you let that girl go? I mean it’s our policy to bring in any undocumented elemental. And shadow element is definitely undocumented.” I asked her.
JuniI shrug a little when he tells me my name isn't that bad at least. He asks me about why I let the girl go earlier. That it is our policy to bring in any undocumented elemental.
"She wasn't causing a harm and she helped get that girl to safety. I figured I let it go this one time. Besides we had goons to deal with and evidence to deliver hear." I tell him.
ShayneI nodded my head thinking that maybe she just had a white or black mentality. But I think the more she worked with us the more she was able to have a gray like perspective. I didn’t say anything when I looked at our joined pinkies.
“You’re not so bad Jun.” I tell her when I finally hear someone knocking on the elevator doors. Must be Dick. Finally. I text him what floor were on and we wait for him.
JuniHe nods my head and tells me I'm not so bad. I look at him funny and laugh a little. "Well I didn't think I was. I mean I'd like to think I'm a pretty likeable person." I say with a little smile.
We hear someone knocking on the elevator and he texts Patricks. I take a deep breath as the elevator jerks a little and the lights flicker before they come back on and we are moving once again. I sigh as I get up, anxiously waiting for the doors to open.
Shayne. “ well you’re kind of like a Sherlock Holmes type of personality honestly. You’re quite brilliant but your like a storm. Just coming in without a warning. It’s a good mentality for someone that is running solo but when you have a team or a partner. We’re suppose to be each other’s back.” I tell her not wanting to just chastise her but we’ve been partners for months and we’ve had nothing
JuniI chuckle as he tells me I am kind of a Sherlock Holmes type and that is great for someone going solo but we are suppose to be a team. I shrug a little looking at him.
"I prefer to work alone and besides the captain only assigned you to me because it is felt that I need a babysitter to make sure I don't cause too much trouble." I tell him and sigh as the elevator doors open.
"Besides do you really want to be my Watson, hot head." I say with a playful smile before I head down the hallway.
"Thanks for the help Patricks." I tell him as I pass him, heading to the lab.
ShayneI didn’t react to her teasing even if I did want to just groan and pretend she didn’t just call me a hot head. I’ve been careful in letting my elemental power being exposed to anyone that can liteRally sense it. It took a while but it was just years of practice honestly.
I looked at Dick and just gave him a look. “So what was she doing there? Is she possibly part of the icyn distribution? Please tell me that you caught her.” I tell him giving him a look when our beepers ring. A message from the capt... another detective !
“I know we’re a small unit but we should be more selective.”
SeanFernandez looks over at me and asks me what the girl was doing there and if she was a part of the icyn distribution. I shake my head a little.
"She didn't seem to be a part of it. One of those rouge elementals lost his shit while high on the stuff and nearly roast me and a couple other officers so I had to go deal with that. She was gone by the time I finished." I tell him. His phone beeps and mine does the same saying we were getting another detective who would be partnering with me.
"I'm sure they are legit. I mean the captain us pretty strict with who he picks. Even with how crazy she is, Lennox is a good detective."
ShayneI looked back at Dick and just rolled my eyes a little bit when he tells me he didn’t get her. And that he thinks she’s not a part of whatever is going on.
“Okay if that’s what your gutt is telling you about her then I’ll respect it and cover your back.” I said letting the shadow girl go for now. I still can’t just let this be a coincidence.
“Yeah she is a good detective.” I mumble.

(Sure!)Juni
"Good morning!" I say in an upbeat mood, coffee in hand. "Did you guys here we are getting another detective?" I ask sipping it as I lean against Fernandez's desk.
"Yeah, captain texted us last night. They are joining us today and it sounds like we are breaking off into pairs. You and Fernandez and the new addition and me."
"Oh boo. I wanna be with the newbie." I say with a pout.
Shayne“Well I don’t mind working with you June, I mean I’m familiar with your tantrums and well your outbursts. Rather deal with something that is familiar to me than a stranger.” I note to her taking a sip of my own coffee while we all wait patiently for the new member of our squad.

Cora
I let my hair down with slight beach waves when I walked into the station. Right away rookie cops were looking at me like if I was a freaking super model that got the wrong address. Little do they know that I’ve been coming here since I was little. I get off on my fathers floor and just walked down the corridor. Every detective looking at me as I tried to look straight ahead and not look for my partner again.
I walked to my fathers office and he right away beamed in happiness when he rushed towards me.
“Darling you’re here! And with coffee.” He kisses my cheeks and took the coffee.
JuniHe tells me that he doesn't mind working with me and that he is familiar with my tantrums and my outbursts. I roll my eyes a little, looking at him. I crinkle my nose a little.
"First off they are not tantrums. I prefer to call them moments of creative genius. And two that is so boring. I rather mix things up from time to time." I say sipping my coffee.
Sean
I glance over and see a girl with red hair stroll in. She heads straight to the captain's office. Wasn't she the girl from last night? I mean it seem pretty far fetched but she looked a lot like her.
CoraI look at my father when he quickly introduces me to his colleagues he starts just talking about me and my achievements from time to time. And honestly it was making me blush just so ever slightly I take a sip of my coffee until my father literally ushers me back outside and he calls out for a brief meeting.
The department wasn’t that big but it was nice and small and has the qualities of probably being in tune with everything.
“Everyone, thank you so much for your patience. Since the demand on our cases has been growing. Our small department will be adding a new member of our team. She had two doctorates in behavioral analogy and forensic sciences. Best pi in the nation, my daughter Cora Dragneel.” My father says proudly and I start blushing a bit.
“Pleasure to meet you all.” I said making an accidental eye contact with Sean.
“Now she alsready has a partner but I do want you all to treat her with a warm welcome.”
SeanI look up with the others as the captain calls a meeting. He introduces his daughter who sounds like a pretty impressive pi. I raise an eyebrow in surprise as her eyes meet mine and I recognize her as the girl from last night.
The captain says she already has a partner but he wants everyone to give her a warm welcome. Well shoot. I wasn't expecting to be working with the captain's daughter and I defiantly wasn't expecting her to be the girl from last night.
I hold a hand out to her trying to be friendly. "Um hi I'm Sean Patricks but I have a feeling you already knew that." I say with a little smile.
CoraI was honestly scared out of my mind right now. I mean Sean can easily just put me in front of everyone but he would risk a stand still because I knew his true nature as well. Basically I knew everyone’s but right away he seems to be warm towards me when he reaches out to me and offers me his hand.
My father walks away when I take his hand and I just feel that spark again right at my finger tips when I look at him and grinned a little. “You’re not wrong on that. So you’re Sean, you’re Shayne and you’re Juniper but you hate that name so let’s go with June?” I asked her. Just giving her smile and the fire guy that was literally looking shocked as hell.
Sean She shakes my hand and I am surprised as I feel the same spark as the night before. She grins and says I'm not wrong about that. She says so I'm Sean, then that must be Shayne and Juniper but Juniper doesn't like her name, so she'll call her Juni.
Shayne looks shocked and Juni smiles. "Oooh I like this one!" She says and tugs on my arm a little. "Trade with me pretty please, Patricks. I wanna go be badass with the new girl. You can go do stuff with the old fart here." She says.
I fake cough to cover up a little laugh. She really was kind of strange.
CoraI laugh a little bit noticing that they all had an interesting dynamic when Shayne just went to catch her hand and tugged her away from Sean.
“Alright that’s enough June, we do not need two rookies just going out and doing god knows what especially when both of you are... special.” He says and I just rolled my eyes a little bit.
“Well that’s a good observation that you made about me. So same task just were able to split up into two teams.” I took a sip of my coffee and just grinned.
“So aside from the drug being from ice elemental what else do we have?”
JuniShe laughs and Shayne catches my hand tugging me away. He scolds me saying that is enough and we don't need two rookies just going out and doing god knows what since we are both special.
"Boo, you are no fun." I say with a pout, sticking my tongue out at him. Cora tells us that we are still on the same task just we are able to split up into two teams. She asks what else do we have.
"We recently there has been a lot more deaths in this area which is making me think that who ever is behind this is has made this area home base and getting people to distribute it." I tell her. "Mainly in run down areas. If we find one of the deals maybe we can get some dirt from him or put a tracker on him."
CoraI nodded my head and just bit my lip. “It’s an ice elemental and yet we only have one recorded ice elemental in our data base and that individual has been long gone. And he had no history of having a family.” I mumbled out just letting out a sigh when I took out my laptop and pulled up some leads.
“Of course when you have an elemental child there’s been years of keeping that information on the downlow. But even so the suspect was gay.” I tell them pulling up old photos of the guy with his lovers that were discreet. Body language says everything.
“So I’m still on the hunt for the family tree. Or still trying to dig any other families known for being ice elemental..” I tell them crossing my arms when they look at me.
“Sometimes you got to look down different routes. Hopefully if I just get a hint more on family history I can figure out a profile.” I explained to them. My shoulders brushing up against Sean.
((Too confusing changing the name Shayne to Leo))

She fills us in on what she knows and damn it is a lot. The captain wasn't kidding, she really was an awesome pi. She finishes explaining how she was going down the family route to track down this guy.
He shoulder brushes mine for a moment and I look at everyone. "Well I'd say since ewe have two teams. We hit both bases. Juni you and Leo can go see if you can locate any dealers and Cora and I can do come more digging on the family history." I suggest since we had more people now.
CoraI looked over at Sean and just bit the inside of my cheek a little. It’s odd that we just met and there’s something static in between us. It makes it hard to breathe a little. Leo looks between Sean and I and he just gives us a tiny glare.
“Okay Fine well go ahead and go to narcotics to see if there’s any humans that are greedy enough to involved themselves deeper into this icyn deal.” Leo says before he looks over at June.
“Go finish your report so we can patrol.”
JuniHmm something was up between those two. It was weird how comfortable they seemed around each other and the weird little looks and touches by accident. Curious.
Leo says fine and we'll go to narcotics to see if any humans are involved in this. He looks at me and tells me to go finish my report so we can go on patrol.
"Yes, dad." I say rolling my eyes as I head back to my desk. Honestly the report was pretty much done. I just had to add few more things and I was ready to send it.
"All done." I say after a few minutes. "Let's go!" I link my arm through his and tug him along.
CoraI looked at June and the Leo guy just looking at both me and Sean. I tried not to say anything until they left and it was just me and Sean. I just looked at his computer trying to read the reports that he had written about the icyn so far
But the more we stayed on silent the more the tension was growing just a little bit.
“Uh do you want to go get some coffee?” I asked him not really knowing what to say.
Leo
I just stopped drinking on the rest of my coffee.
SeanJuni and Leo leave and Cora looks at my computer for the reports I had done on Icyn so far. An awkward silence falls between us and she asks me if I want to go get some coffee.
"Ah sure." I say rubbing the back of my neck. "Do you have anywhere you want to start for today to look into this guy's family history?" I ask.
Cora“Got a few leads. I have like one hundred programs working on it in the background.” I tell him looking at my hands when I see that I have a freaking cup of coffee already. I started blushing bright red when I realized that he was just feeling as awkward as me.
“I feel like we need to clear the air between us. I mean I wasn’t expecting to see you at all and I don’t know... can we talk?” I asked him a bit just trying to shake off this shy nature. This is not who I am.
SeanShe tells me she's got a few leads and she has a hundred programs working on it in the background. She seems to notice that she already has some coffee and blushes. She asks if we can talk and she feels like we need to clear the air between us.
"Sure." I say with a nod and sigh. "Sorry, I know this really feels awkward. I mean last night you told me it was better I didn't know who you were and now you are my partner. It's a little weird."
RueI take his hand and just walked him out to the staircase before I walked us into a shadow and we appeared in my private condo. I feel like we had to have this conversation in a really private setting. I turned to look at him and I just tried to take a breather.
“I understand that you’re confused. I mean I’m confused too. I’ve been running solo for a long time and well when I saw you. I didn’t want my father to be exposed in hiding me. He has a very high position. I couldn’t let my nature take him down.”
SeanShe takes my hand and walks with me before we disappear into a shadow and reappear somewhere else. "Neat trick." I say with a little smile. She looks at me and tells me she understand that I am confused.
She tells me she is confused too and she has been running solo for a while since she didn't want to have her father be exposed for hiding her.
"Hey don't worry about it. Seriously your secret is safe with me. After all you aren't the first different elemental I have had to keep secret. I'm sure you know that Juni is kind of a weird case too." I tell her and chuckle. "Honestly I still don't know just what she is but they say it is something else what she can do."
CoraI looked at him and just bit my lip when he tells me that I’m not the only elemental around here. I scoffed a little when he tells me they don’t know what June is exactly. “Well she’s an interesting girl I was able to taste a couple of her elements when I tapped into everyone.” I tell him and just relaxed a little.
“Besides I want Leo and you to feel comfortable with me. I’m not interested in exposing you both as elemental but the girl I was back at the club... I can’t freely use my element if I’m not that person.” I explained to him. Still feeling that spark between us.
SeanShe tells me that Juni is an interesting girl and she tasted a couple of her elements when she tapped into everyone in the club. She adds that she can't use her powers freely if she disguised like she was last night.
"Yeah, I get it but we are partners now. We need to work as a team on this." I tell her. "Besides we are both cool with you, Well maybe not Leo but he grows on people and he opens up after a bit. Believe me he straight up hated Juni when she first got here but I think he is slowly warming up to her."
(btw sean doesn't know leon is an elemental)Cora
I look at him with a bit of a side eye when he tells me that Leon is just going to slowly grow on me. He just needs to warm up to the idea of me being around. I bite my lip and just nodded my head when he tells me that.
"You're right... but there's also whatever is happening between us." When he looks at me with a confused look on his face. I take his hand in mine and had it face up when i gently placed my palm on his and this static spark happened again
(Okay!)Sean
She bites her lip and nods. She brings up what is happening between us. "So you feel it too. I just figured my elemental powers were glitching or something." I tell her as her hand rests on mine and I can feel the static like sparks against my skin.
CoraI looked up at him when he asks me if i'm feeling it too. I'm literally blushing a little when i chuckled a little bit. "Oh i'm feeling it, I can't stop feeling it when i'm with you. Back at the club too... it took everything of me to keep focus that i had a mission." I tell him.
When i laced my fingers with his and it just shivers down my spine again. "It's not painful though its'.... slightly erotic." I explained to him.
I look at her surprised as she used my first name, telling me it was no use. The guy surrounds her shadow box in fires and it starts to heat up quickly. She tries to get rid of some of the heat but the guy just laughs and forms a fire dragon.
"Okay I have had enough of this shit." I say and make a move for the guy. For a second I become pure electricity as I move through the fire dragon and appear behind the guy.
I shoot a bullet in his leg to neutralize his powers and smash my gun against the back of his head to knock him out.
