Caleb (caleb27) Nice, lol

message 8052: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Oh, that sounds terrific. I just have 12 weeks left, so I'm counting down mine.

message 8053: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) We're still on full distance learning except for a select few. In three weeks we have go into hybrid where you can choose to stay in distance learning or to go in part time.

message 8054: by layla (new)

layla We went back to school a few weeks ago after being off since December (but lockdown for the whole country was just eased today so we can meet people outside now)

message 8056: by Alabaster (new)

Alabaster lol hybrid is honestly a pretty good way to do it. It's less physically/mentally exhausting, while still giving you a chance to meet up with/ see people in person.

message 8057: by Sirens (new)

Sirens Kai (kairabooknerdandproud) | 459 comments I started hybrid classes 2 weeks ago I’m only in school on Mondays and Wednesdays

message 8058: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Instead of coming in every weekday for school, you only come in say two days and then you have a heavier homework load at home.

message 8059: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Oh man, that does not sound fun. We have four vice principals at my school and one head principal. They're all pretty great.

message 8060: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) The principals at the high school are way better than any of the ones that I had in the past. So I think they're probably handling covid better than the others are.

message 8061: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) More proof that a lot of school systems everywhere are super flawed for the time period that we're in. We aren't a rich high school, but we have about a population of 1,600 students. I guess our district is also in quite a bit of debt, though we typically do use the money on helpful stuff I guess, it just doesn't always go far.

message 8062: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Hockey field would be fun, but yeah, I see what you mean. It's not really priority. Our school district just recently (a few years ago) bought a bunch of new Chromebook laptops for everyone when we already had a bunch of sets of them that worked perfectly fine. What we could really use is a new main gym. Our current one has pretty bad flooring, and the bleachers are awful. Also, we have to fall under the stereotype of giving a bunch of funding to the football (American football) program, and comparatively little to the other sport programs.

message 8068: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Boring right now. I'm waiting for English to end, and we have until Sunday until the assignment we're working on is due.

message 8069: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) How about you?

message 8070: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Doing an outline for a argumentative essay next week. I can chose from a long list of prompts. Not sure what I want to do yet.

What was your test on?

iamaunicornwithyellowfeet (bookobsessedblob) | 153 comments OOF I love baking

iamaunicornwithyellowfeet (bookobsessedblob) | 153 comments My sort of dream job would be to own a bakery/library/just a place to relax and eat dessert and read

message 8073: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 542 comments Me too

message 8074: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 542 comments It would be so nice

Oh, that's fun. I'm in culinary class now, so lots of chances to make some good food. That sounds like a fun plan though. Yeah, that would be a great to do. When I retire I'll find a nice, comfortable coffee shop and read all day.

message 8076: by Aafreen (new)

Aafreen I have my exams coming up. so 5 full syllabus tests.. alternate days.. starting tomorrow.. n its not even the final exam.. its just a mock test.. oml I hate this.

message 8077: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Oh, that's cool. I'm sure you'll be fine, brownies are pretty easy to do, and hard to mess up. My school has food and nutrition (that's the entry level class), and then culinary management's 1-4. So there's like international cuisine, meats and sweets, breakfast and lunch foods (that's the one I have now) , and one other I can't remember right now. Then you can take culinary 5 and 6 which is basically either a work study or a catering kind of thing.

message 8078: by layla (new)

layla That's so cool that you do hospitality at school, over here we do food tech during secondary school, where we just make different things, is it like that?

message 8079: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Aaf wrote: "I have my exams coming up. so 5 full syllabus tests.. alternate days.. starting tomorrow.. n its not even the final exam.. its just a mock test.. oml I hate this."

Doesn't sound fun. I'm almost done with my second to last term, so we have some final projects coming up.

iamaunicornwithyellowfeet (bookobsessedblob) | 153 comments We did food tech from yr 7-9, but it was mainly focused on nutrition. We had the option to do hospitality for GCSE but I didn’t choose it mainly because I’ve heard the teacher is really problematic

yup me too lol

message 8082: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Sounds similar to what we do. About 3/4 of the term is focused on different foods, and then the last quarter is either marketing, resumes, or something similar.

message 8083: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Nice. We're in the kitchen almost every school day, making something. And we don't have lessons on the utensils. Ours is more focused on the techniques and different ways that you can make something. But that sounds like a very enjoyable class.

message 8084: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 542 comments Foods class is always the best

message 8085: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) I like that and pe classes.

message 8086: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) I just like almost any physical activity. But yeah, that's another thing we have quite a few options here. This year I took a recreational sport class last term, and next term is a weights class. There's also team sports and basic pe.

iamaunicornwithyellowfeet (bookobsessedblob) | 153 comments One time my teacher wouldn’t give me a grade 9 (top grade) because I didn’t put a doily underneath my Swiss roll WHEN SHE HADNT EVEN GIVEN THEM OUT WHILE I WAS DECORATING
But she always gets one of the students to input the marks so my friend put it as 9 anyway

message 8088: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 542 comments I don’t like pe I’m not good at sports

message 8089: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) I'm just in the middle for most sports, I'm not the best at any one in particular.

Wow, that's a lot of issues. I feel like that's just plain targeting.

I'm sure you'll find something. I'm a pretty tall person, but I'm slow as dirt. Long story short, I ended up throwing shotput for track and field because it fit my body type. (my point isn't that shotput is the perfect sport, it's that almost any body type has a sport in which it excels)

message 8092: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Very true

message 8093: by Sirens (new)

Sirens Kai (kairabooknerdandproud) | 459 comments I hate any form of pe exept swimming lol

message 8094: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 542 comments Yeah

message 8095: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) I’m almost the opposite. I hate going to the pool for long unless I have a good group of friends. Running is way better.

message 8096: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) I get that about friends in sports. We have a fairly strict curriculum at my school so we have units that we move through every 3 weeks or so. Our units are like handball, basketball, conditioning, pickle ball, and those kinds of things. Also, our pe teachers are all coaches so they make sure that people are working most of the time. We don't have a pool as part of our school, but we have one elsewhere in town. We also have a really good swim and water polo team.

message 8097: by layla (new)

layla I hateeee running lmao i just get tired easily lmao but its weird because I'm (not to brag) quite good at swimming, cycling and tennis (which is a little annoying because i feel like they're labelled as "feminine sports" and I'm just adhering to the stereotype lol

message 8098: by layla (new)

layla Lmao i run like a penguin too dw haha. Oh no blonde stereotypes are definitely the worst, (i'm brunette so cant relate but still lol)

Happy Easter to you too!!

message 8099: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) My grandpa always says God made a few perfect people in the world, the left were right handed. Just because he and my sister both are. But yeah, stereotypes are annoying. I generally try to remove myself from them though.

Not Easter here yet, still Saturday for 13 more hours.

message 8100: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (caleb27) Nope, you're right. It's Friday. My internal clock is messed up a bit right now. It's 11 am now, Friday the 2nd of April.
