I read Ghost Talkers by Mary Robinette Kowal which was originally published in English, from the Indo-European family. For the second book I read Malice by Keigo Higashino which was originally published in Japanese, from the Japonic family. The goodreads page does not state that the original edition was in Japanese, but it does list a translator, and the author is from Japan.
