Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments Rissa, pull up your big girl panties and pick some books or spankings for you later!

If I hadn't already read Into Deep Waters that's what I would pick. And yes, it was a sobfest for me but that's nothing new. :D

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments Dee, OMG I kept reading cockatiel not cockatrice. Does it have to be a real animal? It's creepy!

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments Dee wrote: "i've just never heard of a cockatrice ;)"

A mythological bird that if it pecks you petrifies you. supposedly created when a basilisk's aura impinges on the egg of what was supposed to be a rooster.

message 55: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments Well it does make the book sound more interesting. I kept thinking this guy would be shifting into the tiny little bird and doing God only knows what. Nothing very macho that's for sure. Maybe sing a little and poop on people from atop the window ledge or something. :D

It is fantastic and doesn't feel historical at all. I used this one for another challenge that had historical in it. :)

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments It is my go to for historicals!

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 2042 comments well off to H to pick my books for that group

Gosh Dang-it!

Big girl panties are on and I'm picking my books! I still have to decide on a apoco/dysto/zombie book..all the ones that even remotely interesting are to short.

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments Cockroach! lmao, that would be awesome!!

Rissa, what about "Strain". Someone mentioned in one of the SH threads that the guy has to keep having some sex to stay alive or something. lol

Rissa (an M/M kinda Girl!!) (rissa79) | 41 comments OMG..it's sooooo long for a theme I don't really wanna read. But it does sound good and it's on the darker side, so that always helps. I think I might go for it...well I added it to my shelves in any case.

Science fiction The Starlight Rite by Cherise Sinclair
Early 20th century Titanic Affair by Amanda Grange

Shapeshifter Hour of the Lion (The Wild Hunt Legacy, #1) by Cherise Sinclair

Jenn Dee | 3 comments Finished!

My Ranking
1. Science Fiction Aiden and Ky (Tales of the Shareem, #3) by Allyson James (4 stars)
2. Erotica Liberating Lacey by Anne Calhoun (4 stars)
3. Early 20th Century His Very Own Girl by Carrie Lofty (4 stars)
4. Shifters - Other The Mane Event (Pride, #1) by Shelly Laurenston (3 stars)
5. Dystopia Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie (3 stars)

Here's what I read:
I started with Aiden and Ky for the Sci-fi. It features genetically modified men on another planet. I like aliens, space, and all that, so I knew I'd enjoy that one. His Very Own Girl was for the 20th Century and is set during World War II. Very good! The author did a fantastic job of depicting the era - it felt very authentic. But I'd rank this genre a little lower overall, just because there are so few novels set in this time frame. For Erotica, I read Liberating Lacey, which is about a woman looking to sow some wild oats after her divorce. I also liked this one. Then Matched for Dystopia. Certainly a well-written book, but I did not enjoy "spending time" in that world, and found it tough to finish. Never mind that I started and abandoned other Dystopia books before finally finishing this one! The Mane Event for the Other Shifters - the hero is a lion shifter, and there were hyena and wolf shifters as well. I didn't really click with this book, either.

If I understand the rules correctly, I have to finish my Group F books first before I can start these books. I am on book 2 at that group

message 81: by Pam (new)

Pam | 1048 comments Just finished my early 20th century book. While this is not usually my period I loved my book, 5 stars, and I don't give those easily The Baker's Daughter which is a nice blend of history, fiction and love story. I knew nothing about the Nazi Lebensborn project so that was fascinating.

message 82: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Ezi - that's correct

message 83: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Pam - I hardly knew anything about it either, but she also wrote about it in her contribution to Grand Central: Original Stories of Postwar Love and Reunion - i'm reading Of Pure Blood right now, which is a NF about it - really interesting/scary

Rissa (an M/M kinda Girl!!) (rissa79) | 41 comments I finished my first book for this challenge
Scales And A Tail (Midnight Matings, #2) by Stormy Glenn ..more fun than anything. Plus side....I'm getting used to Mpreg!

Haven't decided Shapeshifters, yet,

message 86: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 41 comments I finished my erotica Dangerous Boys and Their Toy by Shayla Black and shifter The Cat’s Meow (Assassin's Pride, #1) by Stormy Glenn . I liked both.

message 87: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments I'm currently stuck at the halfway point of my dystopia and the beginning of my Sci-Fi. Shocking!! :/

Rissa (an M/M kinda Girl!!) (rissa79) | 41 comments I've read my shifter book.

I need a new choice for the historical type one. I think the one I picked is this time period.

Rissa (an M/M kinda Girl!!) (rissa79) | 41 comments Shannon are they slow moving books?

message 90: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) | 1992 comments I haven't given the Sci-Fi a fair chance yet and I haven't been in the mood for anything other than contemporary so I keep going back and forth. It's not boring or slow though...at all.

message 91: by ✿~Danielle~✿ (new)

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) I've finished my zombie book Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues (White Trash Zombie, #2) by Diana Rowland . So I've now read 4, it's only the 29th century book I've got to read and I don't know what I'll read yet as it's the one genre I don't read.

message 92: by Pam (new)

Pam | 1048 comments Finished my apocalyptic book Angelfall which I liked more than I expected to…but book ended on a total cliffhanger with nothing resolved. I have the next one on my kindle but won't race to read as the third one has a publishing date for sometime in 2015 and I don't want to be annoyed when I can't find out what happened. Definitely some gross parts.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1190 comments had to tweak a couple of books as funds are non existent so purchasing books were not in the budget this pay so I had to improvise

message 94: by Pam (last edited Aug 11, 2014 07:16AM) (new)

Pam | 1048 comments In the last 24 hours I have finished my shapeshifter book Magic Rises and my erotica The Darkest Night. Full five stars for the shapeshifter. Could NOT stop reading and have asked for the next one from the library and I'm only #72 on the waiting list. Just okay on the erotica. Story dragged in places and I didn't find it super-hot which is not a good place for erotica.
