Laura wrote: "I've just discovered this gem on Kindle Unlimited: Garlic Artichoke Murder. So we can Defend ourselves against the Vampires with that one. Should have it done by tomorrow. :)"Oh my gosh, I am dying. XD It looks like it has decent reviews, you'll have to let us know how it is!
It is #11 in a series I haven’t read, so we’ll see.I just randomly typed Garlic in my Goodreads search and cross referenced KU. :)
haha, awesome!I'm working on a reread of the Ember Quartet - the second book is A Torch Against the Night and I'm going to use it with one of Wolf's Lord of the Ring books. Torch > Nazgul. :D
Completion PostBook: Garlic Artichoke Murder
Date Read: 6/10
Rating: 2.5 stars
Pages: Goodreads says 106, Amazon (and my Kindle) say 137. I've asked in the AMMP Librarian request thread to get it fixed.
Class: Defense Against the Dark Arts - Garlic against Vampires.
As to how it was, the author has an active imagination. I appreciated the story. But the writing needs help. Grammatically correct. But she told me everything. Ellie did this. Then Ellie did that. Then Russell said this. Then Ellie said that. I wanted a story that flowed and pulled me in. The series has 26 books, so clear evidence of her imagination, but I won't be continuing.
However, it's a quick read, and not awful, so if we get more vampires (can we do the same monster more than once?) someone else can read it. :)
Hi Erica and Britta! I'm currently posting from bed so I will get you set up with some housekeeping stuff tomorrow when I'm at my computer. We are happy to have you! :D@Laura - Yes! Book 3 comes out Tuesday! I actually already have it, there was an Amazon glitch and a lot of preorders got sent out for last Tuesday. I haven't opened it yet though. There's a fourth POV and Sabaa has talked about how different it was to write this character but has given us no indication of who it is. I know myself and I know as soon as I open that book I'm going to flip through to find out who it is. So I'm staying strong and keeping it sealed until I finish my reread! XD
I'll be on holiday until the 29th, so won't really be checking in. But I'm taking books for all the train/bus rides :)

MC is a witch. There are also shape-shifters, faeries, and a vampire.
Also, water-making spell? Summoning with a lake with a boat on it versus this one being empty? One of my previous books had a lake with a boat.
Vicky, do we have any books with spaceships on them? I'm reading
, and we could use it for a fire-making spell.

So I'm going back through what everyone has read and looking at covers, I think we might be able to pull this off for fire-making. I asking the captains for their opinions.
->
Also - they vetoed the moon. Everyone said it was clever but since a partial moon isn't really "broken" it can't be fixed. :(
Vicky wrote: "So I'm going back through what everyone has read and looking at covers, I think we might be able to pull this off for fire-making. I asking the captains for their opinions.[bookcover:Deathstalker..."
I love that it's the same author!
Too bad about the moon. :)
So, mending charm. I've been through all our books again and did some searching.Michelle read
which is right now being used for a P in a spell, easy enough to find another one of those. We could:1 - Pair it with Rachel's read of
. But it's currently our book in the 800-900 page category in Arithmancy and that seems like a crap book to replace. 2 - Read another book with an apple on the cover. I found some lists: Books with Apples on the Cover, The Apples of My Eye (lots of YA/Middle Grade on this list so we need to check word counts), Apples, Apples on the Cover
Or we can try to find something else broken. and I found a few lists for that:
Broken Hearts, Shattered Glass (though it might be hard to find something that shows unbroken glass? maybe a window or something). Broken Dishes
Vicky, are we going by Tineye for the Potions color covers? And is it 50%? I ask because I'm getting a bit frustrated. Perusing some Yellow Cover lists I found these, but they don't make it to 50% (gotta love Tineye!):

I'm wondering if I'll be able to reread the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire. I last finished the first three books January 21 and 22. So I can reread book one on July 21 (or 22?) and books two and three the next day.
Will TTVI still be going on then?
