Bill We've got 8 interesting looking books so far. I'll keep the nomination thread open for another day and probably set the poll up tomorrow.

No worries Bill, and thanks but now The Shadow of the Wind has been nominated I will vote for that instead.

And if it doesn't win this month I might nominate it when we get to "Z" authors. ;-)

good choice. Just don't expect the PBS version, which is much more like the 2nd book in the series, Midwinter of the Spirit

This one sounds interesting. I've worked with modern day Jesuits and I'd like to learn more about their history. Adding in dance, teaching and Paris helps too.

message 59: by Skye (new)

Skye | 2105 comments I adore the Jesuits; my Parish Monsignor is one, I think.

Bill The poll is now open for your votes and will be open until 15 May, end of day...

https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...

Request you only vote if you plan to take part in the group read should the book you vote on win.. Thanks.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) So if two books tied for 2nd place, which one do we read?

If the nominees are willing then we'll have three books for the Jun group read... I'll let you all know.

message 63: by NancyJ (new)

NancyJ (nancyjjj) I'm happy to bow out (with Suspect) if it means we won't spread the group so thin. Rendell is a well known mystery author, and I think her book is a good choice.

I'd like to put in a plug for Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI for July. I might not be able to nominate it, (my travel plans are up in the air right now) but perhaps someone else will want to nominate it.

message 64: by Bill (new)

Bill Don't bow out yet, NancyJ. I don't mind three books at all. I don't know what Nancy the Moderator will select yet for her July Group Read category... It's always an interesting surprise. :0)

message 65: by Bill (new)

Bill As of today, I've only heard from NancyJ and Suzy. If that continues, we'll have two books to read in June. I'm waiting to hear from Connie to see if we'll have three books. I'll keep you posted. At the moment, these two books will be Jun Group Reads -

- The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
- Suspect by Michael Robotham

I'll keep you posted if we also include the other book.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I think I'll be in for both of those reads. I'm starting Shadow of the Wind today.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) I just started Suspect and it grabbed me right away. It should be a fast read.

I read the first few pages of Shadow of the Wind when the poll was up, and it seems cool and atmospheric - more like fantasy/literature than a typical mystery. I'd like to read it too (later in the month).

Bill, in answer to a previous question, yes, I would like to have two discussions set up for Suspect- a spoiler discussion and a no-spoilers discussion. I'll be ready if you want to open it a little early. I have a starting question in mind. Thanks!

I'll give everybody a little time to start reading and then set up the threads, NancyJ.

I think I'll try to do the same in reverse, Nancy! I'll read and moderate the discussion for Shadow first and then try to read Suspect a little later in the month and join in on that discussion. It's very well-reviewed.
