I'm reading the following books at the moment:
The City & the City by China Miéville (reread)
Upgrade by Blake Crouch
Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End by Atul Gawande
The Lucifer Effect: Understanding How Good People Turn Evil by Philip G. Zimbardo (this one is huge and the topic is heavy, I doubt I finish it soon)
Wayfinding: The Science and Mystery of How Humans Navigate the World by M.R. O'Connor (adventure/science party here!)
If I find party in any of them, I'll include it in Level one challenge (looking not promising so far :D )

Level One:
1. DONE Искусство терять by Alice Zeniter - homecoming party
2. DONE Smoke Gets in Your Eyes & Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty- funeral party
3. DONE Как мы ориентируемся. Пространство и время без карт и GPS - adventure/science party
4. ...
Level Two: COMPLETED
DONE Цветник в тени. Неприхотливые растения для вашего сада
DONE Морфология сознания. Том 2.
Challenge: Chinese Medicine Elements: COMPLETED
DONE Fire: Битва гигантов. Ротшильды, Рокфеллеры и Нобели by Brita Åsbrink
DONE Earth: Цветник в тени. Неприхотливые растения для вашего сада
DONE Water: Smoke Gets in Your Eyes & Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty
DONE Metal: Gallant by Victoria Schwab
Wood: DONE Как мы ориентируемся. Пространство и время без карт и GPS

But I read Assassin's Apprentice afterwards as well and survived… 😏

Now to the pre-readathon.
I made some progress on
The City & the City
Upgrade
and
Wayfinding: The Science and Mystery of How Humans Navigate the World
I'll try to finish at least one of them before the readathon weekend.

Embassytown by China Miéville
О муравьях и динозаврах by Liu Cixin
Раковый корпус by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End by Atul Gawande
The Lucifer Effect: Understanding How Good People Turn Evil by Philip G. Zimbardo
With the leftovers from pre-readathong this should give me enough variety.
I'll be doing bingo board as well

hour 6 - I think I might start here, it will be 8AM local time
hour 7 - hosting an hour (9AM)
hour 13 - hosting an hour (3PM)
hour 18 - probably last hour (8PM)
so I'll have about 12 hours for reading

books:
1. Embassytown by China Miéville
2. О муравьях и динозаврах by Liu Cixin
3. Раковый корпус by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

My progress so far:
Upgrade by Blake Crouch - read for one hour and a half in the morning
Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End by Atul Gawande - read chapter 2 during the reading sprint
a walk with the dog and a tea meanwhile allowed me to fill additional squares on my bingo board: https://bingobaker.com/#66a3d6fcf85be97c

Good luck Lamilla, hope you're having a great readathon!

The City & the City is still my favourite out of two! I adore Mieville's imagination, both books are 10/10 on this for me

My favourite of his is Dark Matter!
Cynda wrote: "Reading Count of Monte Cristo, Lamilla? Hats off!"
I don't think, not in the coming years. When I read it in adolescence, I wasn't impressed, and now the size just intimidates me ))

I read from Embassytown in the evening, yay! And that was it for the readathon for me. Overall I read from 3 books, hasn't finished anything.
I participated in 2 reading sprints (both with Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End) and filled some squares on my bingo board (but got no line)

I don‘t think I ever read The Count of Monte Christo, but Im not sure. I did have a go at The Man in the Iron Mask, but couldn‘t get into it.

I think it would be a great choice, lot's of questions to discuss (although a bit bleak)

Good choice: Once There Were Wolves :) Another GR friend said that wolves play an important part of ecological health. Some years ago I read Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver which had a wolf and perhapa other apex predators. (Household cats are.apex predators--amazing.)

That's true! I'm not too happy with the book, her style is too dry for this topic (same with here Jane Austen bio I read previously)
Cynda wrote: "Another GR friend said that wolves play an important part of ecological health.
The book focuses a lot on wolves, so I watched a video on small miracle the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone park. It was amazing!
