Thank you, Elyse :) I've owned the little novellas for years, as well. I'm glad I thought of them for this readathon. I thought the poetry would provide a nice change of pace, and I've loved all of Lovelace's other work. I hope you have a wonderful readathon, Elyse :)

Good morning, Kate. I regret staying up as I'm feeling pretty groggy this morning. I hope you have some great reading ahead of you :)

message 159: by Kate (new)

Kate | 643 comments Thanks, I'm sure you'll overcome the grogginess!
I see you have a couple of His Dark Materials on your list. I enjoyed the trilogy (well books 1 & 3 anyway!) and have The Book of Dust gathering dust on my TBR shelf. Might have to move it up the stack a bit!

I still need to get to The Book of Dust, as well. I reread the original series a few months ago in the hopes of diving straight into the new one, but that has yet to happen yet... Haha!

I also own the first 2 books of the The Book of Dust trilogy. I did hear that the second book has quite an upsetting cliffhanger so I'm waiting till closer to the third book's release date to read them all.

Months or years! Or MANY years if you read Patrick Rothfuss, Scott Lynch, George R. R. Martin, Diana Gabaldon (but at least she is still actively writing!)

Because their imaginations are bigger than reality! lol. I think Rothfuss and Martin's book scopes are just too huge and they put in too many ideas and tangents and now they don't know how to wrap them all up.

I have also just read the first book. It was kind of boggy at times but I liked it in the end. Now I'm at the point where I'm waiting till the series is complete so I can re-read the first and then just plow through the rest.

I own up to the fourth book in the series so I hope I continue to like them as much as book one, haha. The first book was a solid four stars for me and I found it super fast-paced, so the rest of the series seemed like great readathon choices :)

Thank you, Susan :) I've only ever actually read Under Milk Wood before. I might dip in and out of this throughout the readathon or just turn straight to the plays section and read those. I'm sure I'll be able to find a stage play on Youtube somewhere so I may watch that as I read :) Good luck with your readathon choices, too.
