What stuff? As long as you can say where (chapter/%) in the book it happens and you use spoilers if it's something important, you can share your thoughts with us :)

It's a very personal topic and like I said, I don't think there's a right or wrong, so you are entitled to feel like you feel <3

Right back at you! :) If it happened not directly after the 'statement' I would have been probably fine with it too. For me it just happens too soon.

I don't think this will be the end of his recovery. I think there will setbacks. I don't expect this one scene miraculously healing him.

Phew this is where I am totally hopeless. I just read and forget which chapter I’m at. Still at chapter 22 cause I had a very busy day and will not read anymore today, Things happen and I really don’t want to put spoilers out there.

Karen I have to admit I don't think I can begin to understand the how's of leaving your children...your very young children, especially when you're leaving them someplace that's not safe and I can't help but assume that it wasn't safe or why else would their mother have felt she needed to leave...I couldn't do it, I just couldn't and I say this with zero uncertainty...I would have found a way to take my kids with me. I'm not saying she was bad or wrong even. I'm just saying that my heart and soul wouldn't let me walk away from my children. Hell I could barely bring myself to move out here 4 years ago and my kids were safe, adults, whose lives weren't at risk in the slightest and leaving them gutted me...so, while my heart breaks for Albert and Andrea's mother at the same time I can't help but wonder how? how do you walk away from your kids when they obviously need you to protect them? Sorry, but the mother in me is a bit hung up on this little detail.

Okay :)
Keep checking in when you have the time and I'm sure we will talk about it at some point :)

I agree. . No way could I ever Leave my child like that. I mean people surely know there is sexual abuse and child trafficking that happens in these situations????

Simone - on indefinite hiatus - LMAO. "Show it to me, bello." I just thought BELLO? WTF? when I remembered he speaks Spanish. *facepalm*

Christelle At the end of chapter 19 : and SH** :-(

Not even nearly long enough for this to happen... Ugh, sh*t. I really loved the first half, but now it's getting a bit downward here. :(

message 473: by Karen (new) - rated it 3 stars

Karen I'm sorry I know I'm behind...RL keeps interrupting...read 'furbaby and I have been abandon and he's a needy little critter today, but I think he's going for a nap now, so I should get some peace and quiet for awhile...but more importantly...
"slabs of muscle" really? I'm sorry I do like this author but while this isn't quite as bad as the whole branches and lemons fiasco...it's close...slabs of meat does not = sexy and changing the word muscle for meat does not improve things...just puttin' that out there...

Yeah, I cringed at that too. I really don't know why he always has to come up with such weird terms, but apparently it's his trademark. ;-)

LOL!! I don't think it's as bad as the first book either and I really hope it stays that way! I grateful for small mercies ;)
Hope your little guy is settled and satisfied now so that you can continue reading :) I'm near the end of chapter 18.

No, there's still hope, but I don't think this is going to be the 4.5-5 star read I thought it would be until I've been halfway through. :( I hope there won't be more of my pet peeves, though.

Josy Karen wrote: "I have to admit I don't think I can begin to understand the how's of leaving your children...your very young children, especially when you're leaving them someplace that's not safe and I can't help..."

It's incomprehensible especially because they were both so damn young. I think, usually, the men flee first and try to get the money for their wives and kids to escape later. And it sounded as if both parents were still alive so it's even harder for me to comprehend.

Simone - on indefinite hiatus - Christelle wrote: "At the end of chapter 19 : and SH** :-("

Yep, totally agree! :(

Simone - on indefinite hiatus - Starting chapter 20 now. :)

End of chapter 18: Okay, that was a bit fast. It's special, very emotional circumstances but yes, I would have been happier had that come a bit later in the story.

message 482: by Josy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Josy And I'm starting chapter 19 :)

message 483: by Karen (new) - rated it 3 stars

Karen Ok now that I'm finally done chapter 17, I'll weigh in on the Hernan/Colin thing. I think I'm kind of in the middle here. I totally agree that if it had been full on sex that would have been a big WTF! for me, but it wasn't and it was sweet and intimate and while it was sort of surprising that Hernan took the lead it also wasn't. I get what Simone is saying and yeah, if it had been me, I probably would have needed a day or two but intellectually and emotionally we all process things differently so I'm ok that Hernan didn't need more time and I think that it comes down to this being what the author felt that Hernan would do so, I'm willing to roll with that. What can I say Simone you and I just process slower 😕 😉

LOL. I'm slow in a lot of things (like reading :) ), so that doesn't surprise me. ;-)

Karen I'm just starting chapter 18 and need to take a short break to check on supper...fml!!! It's just one of those days where there's going to be constant interruptions so I'm just gonna' role with it, I'll catch up after you all go to bed, so no worries there. bbs

Josy End of chapter 19 and I must admit I'm pissed off as hell! I mean, really?? Hasn't Hernán's life been cruel enough? Why must he go through another life-altering catastrophe? This feels like too much...

Well, (view spoiler)
Starting with chapter 21 now. :)

Simone - on indefinite hiatus - BTW, how far do you want to go tonight? I just checked and chapter 21 ends for me at 61%, chapter 22 at 65%... I don't know if I can make it so far, though. Christelle, what about you? You must be even more tired than me.

Christelle I am at the end of chapter 21 (also 61% for me). It would be indeed much wiser to stop there !!
I have to get up early tomorrow :-( OK, nothing compared to you, Simone, but still.
At what time do you want to meet again ?

Yeah, I have to get up early again myself. I want to go to the stable in the morning, because it's too warm for me to entertain Jamilah in the afternoon. I'm good to start at 4 p.m. if you want. :)

Christelle OK, so we stop at chapter 21 and start again at chapter 22. As Karen is behind right now, I assume she will be OK with that as well.

What about the time ?

Okay, so let's say we start with chapter 22 tomorrow, okay? Would 4 p.m. work for you or rather later? I just don't know about Karen. :(

It's roughly the same MO, although granted not quite as tough, as in September. Brandon didn't have it easy either before the accident. But yeah, for me it's a bit too much as well. ;-)
