Jane (PS) | 24426 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a great to know when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Team Captain - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme of SNOW WHITE, come up with a fun name. We are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 7 March.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2.

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A Annoucement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week if Option 2 is used, members must select their book from another team. This will be advised in the week 11 announcement.

Jane (PS) | 24426 comments I'll be tracking each team's progress separately, using the Captain's summary in each team's thread to check for accuracy.

~KarenH~ | 11401 comments Hi everyone!

I'm Karen, and I live on a lake out in the middle of nowhere in the North Cascade foothills of Washington state (so that's Pacific timezone). And by in the middle of nowhere, I mean if you're here it's either a plan or you're REALLY lost because my little community is over 10 miles from the nearest road that goes anywhere but here, and a trip to the store for a loaf of bread will take over an hour round-trip. Probably only about 25% of the community lives here year-round, the rest are either weekend/summer homes or snowbirds who spend the winters in Arizona (or other warmer climates), so this time of year it's very quiet. In the summer when all the part-timers show up it gets a little crazy...but fun!

I read almost exclusively romance, although once in a while something non-romance will catch my interest too. I read both m/f and m/m and pretty much any romance sub-genre (although there are a few that I don't read a lot and am pretty picky about). Right now I probably read more m/f CR and/or RS than anything else, but I try to make a point of reading a variety every month - some m/m, historical, PNR, etc. just to keep from getting in a rut.

Our first challenge is to come up with a name, hopefully having something to do with the Snow White theme. I hope at least one of you is more creative than me, because that's definitely not my strong suit, and right now I've got nothing! =P

message 12: by ⚣Michaelle⚣ (new)

⚣Michaelle⚣ (michaelle) | 1187 comments Hi! I'm Michaelle (pronounced like it doesn't have an A in there), and I too am in the Pacific time zone - Las Vegas!

I typically read MM with some MMF for variety but there are a few MF books mixed into a couple of MM series (serieses?) that I'm likely to read if they fit the category. If any of you guys have favorite MF titles that also have MM (or MMF) installments, please let me know which ones they are...I might add them to TBR shelf.

I tend to read genres in groups. For instance, last month I read a good Scifi title and then read several more Scifi books. When I read a good Historical I'll look for more Historicals and read a few more of them, too. I'm weird I guess? I dunno. But I read just about all genres: Historical, PNR, Scifi, Contemporary, you name it! (I'm a little less fond of Fantasy but mainly because the world-building needs to be TOP notch for me to really enjoy it.)

For the most part, everything I read is Romance, though. On a rare occasion I'll want something dark so it might just be erotica or horror. I think of it like a palate cleanser to appreciate more the romance of the following read.

Anywho, I'm absolute crap at team names. So I can't help with that. I tried searching for a pun or rip on a SW theme but got nothing. I do like the idea of incorporating that magic kiss, though!

Lioness7 | 179 comments Hi Everyone,

I know I am listed as Lioness on here, but I sign everything Jenny. I live in North Carolina in a small house in the country. We also have a long drive to get to somewhere to buy groceries. It takes us about 45 minutes to go to the big town closest to us that has everything. Needless to say, I hate grocery shopping.

I love reading a little bit of everything. Romance is probably what I read the most and I am up for almost anything in that genre. I also love reading adventure, fantasy, and horror. Lately, I've been really interested in books with animal attacks, so that has been what I have been buying.

I'm also not very good at team names. I did a little looking on the internet and through combining some key words and below are some ideas I came up with.

Just Kiss Already
The Bashful Dwarfs (Most of the dwarf names would fit in this one)
Heigh Ho! It's Off to Read We Go
The Wicked Apples (or Poison would work)

I'll try to think up some more, but those are what I have to start with.

Jenny

Amanda A | 769 comments Hi! I'm Amanda and I live in South Carolina. I enjoy reading a little bit of everything and my favorite genres are romance and mystery. I like to read a variety of romance sub-genres as well. My biggest weakness is getting caught up with all of the series I have in progress. But that doesn't stop me from starting new ones!

I lack creativity as well, but I also love Jenny's suggestion of Heigh Ho! It's Off to Read We Go for a team name. Very cute!

message 17: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11401 comments Hi everyone! Michaelle, don't worry, we'll keep you on track! It's really pretty simple once you actually get into it - the instructions make it sound more complicated than it is. As long as your selection and completion posts have all the information in them and you don't fall too far behind in your reading, you won't have a problem!

Cute name options, Jenny! I'm still trying too, but so far all I've come up with is:

Romance Miners (or Miners of Romance).
Reading Reflections

message 18: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 514 comments Hi I'm Suzanne - I think this one is the right team since I'm pretty sure I'm not Suzanne (Esmerelda). I live in Idaho and really do love to read all genres - although Fantasy may be my favorite.

I like Reading Reflections and Heigh ho! for team names - I'm so glad for you creative thinkers.

I'm at Emerald City Comic Con until Monday morning - so my computer time is pretty limited, but my book bag is full =) I'm excited to play with all of you.

⚣Michaelle⚣ (michaelle) | 1187 comments OMG, so jealous of you right now Suzanne! One of these days I'll have enough money to do a larger CC; I go to the one here in Vegas sometimes but it's just not as satisfying to the inner geek in me.

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 4195 comments Hello Everyone!

I'm Sassafrass and this is my 10th time playing PTP. It's such a fun challenge and it always increases my ever expanding TBR as well.

I live on the East Coast, right outside of Philadelphia (GO EAGLES!) so I am on EST time.

I read everything but mostly romance and these days I'm usually listening on audio instead of reading so my reviews will usually talk about how well I think the narrator(s) did. I read/listen to mostly MF stuff but also read MM, FF and everything permutation in between.

I look forward to playing with everyone. There are some old faces and some new ones too. I can't wait to get started!!

~KarenH~ | 11401 comments Hey Sass! We don't play together for a long time, and now you can't get rid of me...good to see you again! =P

Suzanne, you're in my neighborhood this weekend...well, sort of anyway. I'm actually a little over an hour's drive north of Seattle, but grew up there so still consider it home in a way (even though I haven't lived in the city for over half my life now).

It sounds like we all seem to like Heigh Ho! It's Off to Read We Go, so do we want to just go with that, or does anyone have any other ideas they want to throw out?

On another note, will the first category be called next Friday? I couldn't find a date on any of the threads. I might have missed it though.

Also, I think my shelves are public. So, anyone should be able to see what I have listed.

message 25: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11401 comments Jenny, normally the theme announcements will be every Friday afternoon/early evening, but the first week Jane often announces it on Wednesday if everyone has checked in and the teams all have names chosen. Everything else stays the same, it just gives us a little extra time the first week, and keeps us from having to wait those last two days to get started!

We still need to settle on a name...what do you all think?

Week #1
The Duchess Deal
Date Read: 3/8/18
Rating: ★★★★

I loved Emma and Ash together. Ash is scarred from war injuries and Emma has been burned by love before so they are both wary of a relationship. Ash needs an heir so he proposes a marriage of convenience to Emma. It was fun to watch them fall in love along the way. Their witty banter and the humor interspersed throughout the book made for an entertaining read. Tessa Dare is one of my favorite historical romance authors and I look forward to the next book in this series.

Week # 1: Set In Europe
Option 1
Provoked by Joanna Chambers
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Review: (Audio Edition Review of Previously Read Title)

I bumped up the rating because once again the perfect narrator can absolutely make a story more enjoyable. Sometimes when I'm listening to an audio book I'll find my mind drifting (unless I have something to occupy my hands at the same time) but this is one of a handful of cases where this didn't happen; I never once had to rewind to catch what I might have spaced on...I was riveted the whole time.

I'm crediting Hamish McKinley's delicious accent for that. Holy hell, those sex scenes were smoking hot and ridiculously romantic/intense/emotional...but hearing them was another amazing thing all together.

The author definitely picked the right person to partner with for this series. So very much looking forward to listening to the next two as well. (It took a while but I eventually did get past the depression & disappointment of Real Life that originally had me putting off the sequels after I read the first one.)

Date read: 3/10/18
Review:

*4 STARS*

I thought this was sweet and funny and very sexy. I was not happy with the whole custody thing. I think these two had their own dramas without having to throw that into the mix. Just Bryan's doubts were enough to give a bit of a twist in there.

Other than that though, I really loved the characters and little Patrick was the cutest thing ever. I was happy that everyone got their HEAs because for once I was rooting for everyone in the story. I shouldn't say for once though because that's how I've felt for all the books in this series.

Can't wait for the next one.

The narrators in this one were great. I can't say whether or not the accents (Irish) were authentic because I'm just a dumb American, but they sounded great to me. Even the narrators doing the American voices were convincing. I thought they did a great job!
