3hrs 42 audio, so that meets the 100p, right?"

Sorry, I missed this question when you first posted, but yes, that is good to use. 3 hours is usually the cut-off and this is nearly 4 hours, so all good!

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I'm going to finish Silence Fallen (Mercy Thompson, #10) by Patricia Briggs today.

Hunted (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #6) by Kevin Hearne will be done some time this weekend, depending on how much time I get to read Saturday.

Then I'll pick up Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) by J.R. Ward and will spend Sunday reading, or so I hope.

Going to slot Lover Awakened into a 3 card and move Katie's Hawkyn into the remaining 8 spot.

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments :)

Was a good book, I enjoyed very much!

I'm not going to immediately pick up another kindle book, as I want to make some more headway in my audio (25hrs 30 left!), and also to finish my hardcopy Spares & Found Parts before I go on hols (i.e. by tomorrow morning! I might not actually achieve that, we shall see).

I've not really worked out what will be on the holiday reading slate, but it may be the Shadow Study / Night Study / Dawn Study. I shall ponder this evening, whilst packing & advise tomorrow :)

message 857: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Valek is always worth a read, even if this trilogy is a little slow-going at times - or maybe I just really wasn't in the mood for the second one when I started it (entirely possible!).

Deciding what to take on holiday though is always difficult. I mean, sure, with the kindle you can take along a ton of books, but I read paperbacks for the most part. Makes it hard sometimes.

message 858: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 2147 comments Yeah! pre-kindle I found packing to be SUPER hard! It did get me to read some chunkster, though! I remember one holiday in my teens I took War & Peace with me. (yeah, I was *that* girl!)
That took me the first week, and then I had to scrounge from fellow guests. That was when I first read Evelyn Waugh - Decline and Fall, which I loved, and I generally still love Waugh's satires.

post-kindle it's easier in that I know I'll always have something to read, but - especially if without wifi - it can end up with some odd reading patterns - I'll often read a whole series, because at least I know what the book's going to be about. not being able to read the blurb on the back is a short-coming. I'll end up after a holiday with a total aversion to a particular genre if I'm not careful!
I'm getting better at managing that now, with some preplanning & use of "collections".

All that said, I will definitely be reading Shadow Study, as it completes a 2-book task in SRC for me.

Ah yes, without wifi it can be a little harder. Sounds like even kindle reading isn't all that easy! I never considered it for someone who reads at your speed, to be honest. I usually pack 2-3 books when I go on a longer holiday but I know that I won't get past the first one most of the time. Much easier!

Shadow Study is definitely a good choice though. While I found Night Study to be slow (and I still think that was just because I wasn't in the right mood for the book), the first one was good, and it was fun to get back to all those characters.

Have you read the Glass series? Far far lower in quality, but there are several characters in there that make an appearance in the Soulfinder series.
