Before and Again by Barbara Delinsky Before and Again by Barbara Delinsky in hardcover
I usually love her work, but this is one I just had a real hard time getting in to. The beginning was so emotional and heart wrenching and I was so excited and then it just got so long and drawn out I almost didn't finish it. The story line was so strong and then in went into so many other sub plots, it lost the main content. The ending was pretty predictable which in its way was good. I would have thrown the book across the room if it hadn't had a happy ending after I all endured to read it to the end. I feel the story lost its main content and could have been not only a great romance book, but could have been an inspirational and educational book for those who went through what the main characters went through. Some very heavy topics in this book that could have been delved into more. I will continue to read her books as I know what a great writer she is. 2 stars

Benjamin's Bride (Lawmen's Brides #2) by Natalie Dean Benjamin's Bride by Natalie Dean on Kindle as an ARC
Young daughter of a Texas Ranger, Mary Lee is left behind to stay with her wicked uncle with special, secret papers her father wants her to keep and to not tell anyone she has them. A years go by, her uncle wants to marry her off to another awful man to try and get those papers. She runs off to Texas as a mail order bride to Deputy U.S. Marshall Benjamin Graves. She doesn't tell him about the papers or her past for a long time. Mary Lee marries into another town full of thugs and criminals and whose family wants to take over Texas. This book was really fun to read with a lot of suspense and romance. It is a clean, inspirational book. Very fun read! 5 stars

Love Finally Takes Control A Historical Western Romance Book by Carol Colyer Love Finally Takes Control: A Historical Western Romance Book by Carol Colyer on Kindle. ARC
First, the Kindle addition is terrible! It is so broken up, lousy proofing with spelling and grammar. Amy has come west after seeing an ad from a church that men need woman to marry and be help mates. She finds her man Oliver terribly ill and nurses him back to health. All of a sudden Amy is thrown into situation after situation with town thugs. Amy is a very independent, out spoken woman and has no problem telling bad people off. It was an interesting story but way too drawn out and choppy. Being it a clean romance, it came off too sappy for me. And the two of them sleeping together for necessity was a bit too unrealistic when they don't even tell each other they love each other until the end of the book. Way too many sub plots in the book. I like the author but didn't care for this book. 2 stars

Love's Witness (First Street Church Romance) by Ava Mallory Love's Witness by Ava Mallory on Kindle
This is a short story. Miranda, a single mother who's husband is deceased goes to her friend from medical schools home for spring break in Sweet Grove with her dog. She has left behind her son with her mother to get some rest. Raul works hard to forget his past. Both carry a lot of baggage and many secrets. Bring in the town trouble maker and gossip, Sister Hattie who is married to the town doctor. I felt this story just didn't meld at all. The two main female characters are medical students, but came off as high school age in their antics and dialogue. I had a hard time wrapping my head around a mother leaving her four year old son during her spring break, when she doesn't see him during her school year, but claims she wants to make a good life for him. I never really found out the nitty-gritty of both Miranda and Paul and their secrets. I felt like it was unfinished.
I received an ARC copy of this book and volunteered to leave a review. 2 stars

Because the Earl Loved Me (Happily Ever After Book 6) by Ellie St. Clair Because the Earl Loved Me on Kindle by Ellie St. Clair ARC
Lady Anne Finchley is the daughter of a duke and the sister of the Duke of Breckenridge, Alastair. She is not interested in marriage but wants to be an actress on the stage. This being frowned upon by nobility, Alastair is insisting she marry his best friend the Earl of Merryweather, Christopher Anderson. Christopher is one who is overly organized, meticulous and exacting. Lady Anne is whimsical, stubborn, outspoken and overly impulsive. These two are like oil and water which makes some interesting conversations and situations. I thought this book was so amusing and fun to read. The two main characters were so much fun as they interacted with each other. Many times I found myself chuckling out load. Of course there were serious sides to this book that were emotional and romantic. I just adored this book and would certainly recommend it. 5 stars

Jewels of the Sun (Gallaghers of Ardmore, #1) by Nora Roberts Jewels of the Sun by Nora Roberts in paperback
This book is based in Ireland where fairies, magic, ghosts, mystery and romance run rapid. I really enjoyed the main characters, Jude and Aidan. Jude is running from her ended marriage and a life that brings her no satisfaction. She is trying to find who her true self is and what she actually wants. She is staying in a small cabin on Fairie Hill. Aidan is the oldest of the Gallagher family and with his brother and sister run the pub. Aidan is quite outspoken of his attraction to Jude and Jude is quite stubborn on how she feels of romance, love and marriage. The other characters in this story are very real to life and so entertaining. Nora Roberts is one of the best in story telling. She took me away into Ireland in her detailed descriptions, the myths and stories through her writing. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. 5 stars and more

Shipwrecked with a Suitor (Ravishing Regencies Book 3) by Emily Murdoch Shipwrecked with a Suitor by Emily Murdoch on Kindle. ARC
Pierre d'Épiluçon is of french nobility with a price on his head who has become ship wrecked after fleeing the revolution. He finds himself washed ashore on a beach in England where Helena Metcalfe has found him stabbed and very sick. She nurses him back to health from fever, the wound and delirium. Her father is man who is drunk most of the time and away for days looking for an easy break. Even though the different classes and different countries, they find themselves attracted to each other. This was a short, fast read. I have not read the first two in this series, and although you could read it on its own, I would suggest reading the first two first. A fun story. 4 stars

The Highlander's Secret Maiden A Scottish Historical Romance Novel by Lydia Kendall The Highlander's Secret Maiden: A Scottish Historical Romance Novel by Lydia Kendall on Kindle. ARC
A story of mystery, intrigue, romance and suspense. British lass, Georgina runs away with two Scottish brothers in attempt to flee her father and the marriage plans he made with an awful brute. In front of a wedding crowd, they go off on horseback to get away from Morgan Bolton. Colton is the new appointed Laird since the death of their father, and Marcus is his brother. Both smitten with the beautiful, naive yet stubborn and headstrong Georgina. Bolton is insistent at getting his betrothed back. It's a back and forth between the brothers to get the attention of her and a back a forth of plots and battles that Bolton takes to get her back. A fun ride until the end, although quite predictable. The only con I had regarding this book was all the Scottish dialogue. I felt it was very over done. I also would have enjoyed more content and description of the times and the highlands. Yet, all in all, an entertaining historic romance. 3 stars

Storm Damage by Lorna McKenzie Storm Damageby Lorna McKenzie on Kindle
Poppy Winters was raised and lived by Cranford Hall in the Dorset cottage all her life. She makes sweaters there and runs her own business. Now alone and with a new owner coming in to take over, her future there is uncertain. But she is determined to fight tooth and nail to stay. A raging storm has a stranger at her door who is injured after a tree falls on his car. A power outage has left her to tend to him and keep him warm. The next day Poppy realizes a dream she had was not a dream at all and now the consequences rears their ugly heads. Guy Devereau has no memory of what happened that night and finds himself engaged to a mean spirited, self centered socialite. Yet Guy continues to be drawn to Poppy. This was an absolutely delightful story by a new author for me. The characters were very strong, well defined and believable. It was a real page turner to me. She is a brilliant writer and I hope to read more of her work. More than 5 stars for this.

Tears of the Moon (Gallaghers of Ardmore / Irish Trilogy, #2) by Nora Roberts Tears of the Moon by Nora Roberts in paperback
I wasn't as impressed with this book as I was the first in the series. I always enjoy the main female character being independent, strong and outspoken, but I found Brenna is way over the top. She is manipulative, conniving and very disrespectful to Shawn and too unfeminine. I don't feel she really got her comeuppance at the end. Shawn is Adian's younger brother who does all the cooking at the pub. He and Brenna have been friends since childhood. Until Brenna throws himself at him telling him she just wants sex with him, does he finally discover he loves her? I was disappointed that there wasn't more written about his music. Especially when it was such a big part of his life. I always enjoy the ghosts in the story. On to the final book 3 of the series. 3 stars

Heart of the Sea (Gallaghers of Ardmore / Irish Trilogy, #3) by Nora Roberts Heart of the Sea by Nora Roberts in a paperback
Perfect ending to the series. The last of the Gallagher's to find love, Darcy is strong willed, head strong, knows what she wants and will go to any length to get it. She wants to be rich and have all the finer things in life. This story of her and Trevor is full of so much passion and is a wild ride with the two of them. I love Darcy and how she acts and reacts to everything. Trevor is one who analyzes things and is use to dealing with corporations. He has met his match, literally with Darcy. I have loved each and every character in this series. Nora Roberts has brought me to a tiny town in Ireland and made be a part of it. There is romance, passion, mystery, magic, legends and music. I hate to see the series end. 5 stars
