Becky (ebab) | 650 comments The Magic of Christmas by Chris Phethean The Magic of Christmas by Christ Phethean on Kindle
A young boy, George, has been picked by Father Christmas to save Christmas from the Dividers. Those who no longer believe and want Christmas to end for ever. 11 year old George has a magical gift and is the only one who can save Christmas. George travels to the Ice Palace and to the North Pole on the beloved reindeer Dola. They must show him what Christmas is truly about and what a tragedy it would be to have the Dividers destroy it. I absolutely adored this book!! It is a story anyone, young or old could read. The characters were so true and well defined and the story line was magical and fun and add mystery to it. I got so involved in this story. This would be a great book to have made into a holiday movie. I would recommend this book to everyone. If you don't have the Christmas spirit, you will after reading this. I would love reading more of this authors stories. Excellent!! ++++ 5 stars

Becky (ebab) | 650 comments Hardcore Twenty-Four (Stephanie Plum, #24) by Janet Evanovich Hardcore Twenty-Four by Janet Evanovich in Hardcover
Again Stephanie Plum is overwhelmed with all her chaotic crisis. Someone is stealing graves, there are decapitated dead people, and zombies have taken over the area, heads without brains and Stephanie is boa sitting for a perp while he is waiting trial. Her old, gorgeous, mysterious and mystical friend Diesel is also back in town and has taken root at her apartment. Another day in the life of Stephanie Plum. Grandma is in love with a man in Florida she met on on-line dating who looks like George Hamilton, Lulu is freaked out with the boa and the zombie cooties. Let's not forget her attraction to both Joe Morelli and Ranger, now add in Diesel and we have the makings of another hilarious book. I found myself laughing out loud at times and falling in love with Morelli and Ranger all over again. I read some bad reviews about this book but I really enjoyed. Yes, it's like many of her other books and very predictable. I always find them a treat to just sit back, relax and just enjoy. 5 stars

Becky (ebab) | 650 comments Accounting for Love (Long Valley, #1) by Erin Wright Accounting for Love by Erin Wright on Kindle
The story line was good but could have been so much better. I didn't care for either of the main characters. They were boring except in bed. I did like the housekeeper Carmelita. She was the only one who really had any substance. I would have liked the story to have more of Stetson's and Jennifer's past to define more of who they were, where they came from. I love a sexy, romance book, but this one lost the story line with more sex than story. I usually like her books, but this was not one of my favorites. 3 stars

I finished listening to Complicated by Kristen Ashley and, as usual with her books, got hooked from beginning to end. Here’s my review.

I finished listening to Tamarack County by William Kent Krueger, Cork O’Connor #13, and couldn’t put this one down either. Lots going on. Here’s my review.

I’m listening to The Crossing by Michael Connelly, Harry Bosch Universe #27.

Becky (ebab) | 650 comments Time of Valor (Love for All Times #2) by Audrey Adair Time of Valor by Audrey Adair on Kindle
I found this historical/time travel/romance novel so much fun. The characters were so clearly defined and the place and time was so wonderfully described. Emilia and Dougal were very strong and likeable characters. I just adored Fiona and how she fit into the whole story line. I was fascinated with the whole story. I read these out of order, but loved it just the same. I just couldn't put this book down and it didn't take me long to read it. I can't wait to read the rest now. Excellent!
Thank you Audrey Adair for a wonderful story. 5 stars

Vicki (vickiguardianofthewraiths) I just finished Year One (Chronicles of The One, #1) by Nora Roberts and had mixed feelings about it. To me it is the darkest book of hers I have ever read. That said, I did love it and the characters and cried my eyes out while reading it. I don't generally read the dystopian/apocalyptic fiction and was surprised Nora Roberts could write something so dark. Will be looking forward to book #2.

I went off plan for a quick read after having read two friends’ reviews of this really short story (19 pages). Before the Clock Strikes Six by Justin Tate is a Hitchcock-like horror story and here’s my review.

I finished listening to The Crossing by Michael Connelly, Harry Bosch Universe #27, a mashup of Harry and Mickey that delivered. Here’s my review.

I’m now listening to Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor, the third and final book in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series.

I read these books out of sequence, so after reading book 2 and loving it so much, I just had to read this short starting story. A fantastic historical, time travel, romance novel. I love how the author brings the two worlds together. The main characters and strong and defined so well. I love the description of Scotland in the present time and past. I really am enjoying her stories so very much. She is a wonderful writer. It isn't easy to write time travel books to keep the readers interested, but she does an amazing job. 5 stars

Becky (ebab) | 650 comments Love's Cure (Sweet Grove Beginnings, #4) by Emily Murdoch Love's Cure by Emily Murdoch on Kindle
Love's Cure is the fourth in the Sweet Grove Beginnings series but is a stand alone story. A beautiful, inspirational, historic romance story of second chances, the power of family and forgiveness for others as well as oneself. I was drawn into the times, the family relationships and each character. Mariana has been blind since an infection in her childhood. She is strong willed and tries to be as independent as can be. She is no love or forgiveness for doctors or the medical profession on a whole. Dr. Gerald Anderson has his own sort of blindness and carries his own baggage and secrets. He comes to Sweet Grove to escape the demons he carries and wants to make a new start. The road they all walk is an inspiration. I have enjoyed this authors work immensely. Looking forward to reading the others5. stars
**I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased review.

Becky (ebab) | 650 comments Worth of a Duke (Lords of Fate #1) by K.J. Jackson Worth of a Duke by K. J. Jackson on Kindle
This was a fantastic book full of historical romance, intrigue, mystery, adventure, family and forgiveness and some intimate romance. Wynne Theaton is found in a forest in England without any memory of how she got there and what has really happened to her and her family. Rowen Lockton, the new Duke of Letson has found her after finding her being held up by a thief. After promising himself off women, he becomes quite interested in this poor mixed up woman. He takes her to his castle which is also the home of his aunt, the dowager duchess who treats Rowen abdominally. This story gripped me from the very moment. Trying to help Wynne get her memory back to going into a town she thought she had stayed in, to being kidnapped and trying to find her mother, if alive. The characters were so strong and well defined. She brought scenes into my mind of the castle and area. I wish she would have spend a bit more time on the ending and resolve a few mysteries. Like her health, the town and her mother. It was just too assumed. I am looking forward to reading more in this series. 4 stars
NOTE: I was given a free copy and this is my honest review

Becky (ebab) | 650 comments Spellbound (Once Upon, #1) by Nora Roberts Spellbound by Nora Roberts in paperback
A short story with romance, suspense, magic, witches and an evil wizard. Calin Farrell goes to Ireland for a much needed rest. He has had dreams since childhood of certain place, with a red-headed young woman. He feels pulled to this place all of his life. When he arrives he finds a small cottage and very aggressive, beautiful woman named Bryna Torrence. She tries to convince him why he is there and the spell that has been cast over them. She needs his help to once and for all defeat the wicked wizard who want her body, soul and her powers. This book could have had a lot of potential, but I found it difficult to follow. The story line was not well defined and all over the place. For a short story, it took me long to read it. 2 stars
