I finished Hum If You Don’t Know the Words yesterday and thought it was great, except for the ending, which did the rest of the book a disservice. I don't know what I'm the mood for next. Everything seems a bit meh.
I finished The Seamstress of Ourfa. Review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....Started I Was Anastasia. Enjoyed Ariel Lawhon's other two books - looking forward to this one.
You always read interesting books Lilisa. I don't know how often I added your books to my tbr already.
I finished Firestarter which was great. Now I'm moving on to Faithful Place. I'm trying to work on current series. I reckon I can use it for the zodiac challenge too. I attempted The Left Hand of Darkness but didn't get past a couple pages.
Lol, looks like I might be last man standing on The Left Hand of Darkness! I am quite enjoying it after a very slow start. REckon I will take my time on this one though.Hope you enjoy Faithful Place Sarah. It was my favorite so far - I haven't returned to the serioes after that one although I own them all. I'm afraid they might not live up to it lol
Just finished The Handmaid's Tale, which was 3.5 stars for me.I will start now The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse for the month themed read. Very excited about it.
I just finished The Memory Watcher which I read for the monthy theme. I didn't intend to start it so early in may but I needed an antidote to the heavy philosophising of The Left Hand of Darkness!I have decided to dnf A Conjuring of Light for now - I'm not in the mood for YA. I will start The Woman in the Window for my live book club.
My currently reading list is on its way to looking like your daughter's Sarah. I started May Day for my ZZ challenge, Resolution because it was available, and The Longest Ride for my ZZ challenge and because it was available in audiobook. Tonight I will pick up and probably start Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man for the monthly challenge.
I finished listening to Hiddensee: A Tale of the Once and Future Nutcracker.
Peggy wrote: "You always read interesting books Lilisa. I don't know how often I added your books to my tbr already."Sorry for adding to your TBR list Peggy! :-)
For Janice and Renee as well -- I'm three chapters in and it's good so far. Hoping it continues...
Sorry, Sarah, I meant Sandra's daughter in my last post. This thread is hard for me too. My TBR grows every time I open it, I think.
I nearly forgot - me and Pete finally to the end of our "hospital trip" audio book yesterday! It was The Word Is Murder and has been of to go for nearly 4 months. I gave it 3 stars. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as Magpie Murders. In fairness this could have been partly due to the stop-start way we listened to it but I felt it was like a resumee for Anthony Horowitz and a chance for him to name drop. Anthony was the main character of this story. He was engaged to write a book about about a murder from the pov of the privite detective. Hmm - didn't work so well.
I have two-three paperbacks to pick up when I am in the mood for which at home, an audio for mealtimes, a fiction, and a psychology non-fiction in my iPad for between sessions at work. Sometimes they add up.I am listening to The Nest, reading Angela's Ashes (so heart-breaking), andBlind Willow, Sleeping Woman. Recently started The Book of Disquiet which is a different kind of heavy reading.
Started The Gift of Therapy: An Open Letter to a New Generation of Therapists and Their Patients today because I am in the mood for Yalom plus I need to keep re-brushing my therapeutic skills.
I've just come out of a 2 week long reading slump. I didn't feel like reading a thing during that time. Thankfully it seems to have passed now and I am really geared up and ready to read again 😃 I have restarted Call Me by Your Name.
I finished my audiobook A Darker Shade of Magic and discovered it fits for Aries, Stone. It's set in 1819.I will start my challenge read Dandelion Wine for the monthly challenge.
I got an email that The Broken Girls is available for pickup at the library. Sigh. I figured it would be a while before it came available. Guess not. My stack of books to read is growing.
Just started His Family by Ernest Poole which won the 1918 Pulitzer Prize for the Novel.Having great luck this month --just notified of winning a Goodreads Giveaway for
by Dora Benley and downloaded it to my Kindle. Very excited about winning! Thank you, Goodreads!

Congratulations, Elizabeth. Hope it's a good read.

Pragya wrote: "Did you like V.E.Schwab, Janice? "I think this is the only book of hers that I've read so far. I enjoyed the book but I'm on the fence about continuing the series. If it comes on sale, or is available at the library, I will probably get it. I just have so many other books that I really want to read.
Sandra wrote: "How unfair you are reading two books with flowers in the title, Annerlee, and none count for the challenge!"Life is so unfair sometimes ; ) Oh well, I might just have to read another book later in the month. (Rose Madder is calling to me, but it's sooo long!)
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich which is about being in a labour camp under communist Russia...a good read so far..Coming Up for Air reached 65% ,a comedic satire..which is enjoyable..and the commentary on the times is very informative..
The Diary of Lady Murasaki..just going to start it..a short story...set in Japan... from 11t century I think... from the pov of the empress (I think).

Ah, I see. I have heard of people loving the series. Maybe I will give the first one a try.

We own this one. Lexx has read and decided to discontinue. I have to get there and make up my own mind, but you may have helped me slot it in to the challenge, Janice
I finished The Longest Ride - Mr. Sparks never disappoints. I also finished May Day, both for my ZZ challenge. I will start Circe for the buddy read tonight.
I started Kraken. I hadn't planned on reading it but i wanted to read something outside and my kindle gets hot so i reverted to another print book and got sucked in. I'll put my planned kindle book back on my tbr and come back to it later.
I'm with Stray City in print, began listening to The Pillars of the Earth and in the last third of Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania on Kindle.
Sandra wrote: "DEAD WAKE is a great book, Lilisa."I loved Dead Wake. I was fortunate to see the author on a lecture tour out the book. He is an amazingly intelligent man
Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour BookstoreThe Gift of Therapy: An Open Letter to a New Generation of Therapists and Their Patients
The Book of Disquiet
I am reading Circe with the buddy read and I am re- listening to Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell - it's bern too long!
Renee wrote: "Sandra wrote: "DEAD WAKE is a great book, Lilisa."I loved Dead Wake. I was fortunate to see the author on a lecture tour out the book. He is an amazingly intelligent man"
I'm enjoying it too - I'm amazed at the details.
siriusedward wrote: "How is Mr.Penumbras , Pragya? The name always tempts me."
I am liking it so far, Sirius.
I'm currently reading the May book, "The Talented Mr. Ripley". But also, a book by one of my favorite authors, Lisa Scottoline, "Damaged". I love that she can grab my interest in the first few pages and write a tense mystery/thriller without foul language, detailed sexual content and gore (for the most part).
Roz wrote: "I like to have 3 or 4 going at once. It gives me options, in case I get bored with one I can pick up and continue with one of the others. Ideally I have one audio that I listen to during the commut..."I have a similar plan....
My friends at my neighborhood book club always tease me because I usually have 5-6 going. But I enjoy all genres and sometimes I feel like a bit of romance, or maybe a thriller and if at times an easy to read YA. I also always have a 'learning' book that I take at a slower pace -- like a book on religion or history.
And a book on my Kindle that I can read in bed and not disturb a sleeping husband. :)
My daily reading depends on my moods.
Heather wrote: "I'm currently reading the May book, "The Talented Mr. Ripley". But also, a book by one of my favorite authors, Lisa Scottoline, "Damaged". Would you always want to watch the same show? Mind you, that argument carries less weight since Netflix introduced the box-set binge lol
I'm reading The Twelve I have high hopes for it, as the first one of the trilogy was really good. And I'm reading The Couple Next Door, but this is such a predictive story to read. I expected more of this.

Saar - I'm curious, what part of the book are you at? I won't say more other than I've read it (I did the audio) and enjoyed it quite a bit.
