Allie (ab10) Sorry if there is already a thread for something like this.... but do we have a place to ask "Which prompt does this book fulfill?"

My question is, which prompts do Outlander fulfill?

Thanks!

message 2: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennywilliams88) It would fit the time travel prompt!

message 3: by Nikki (new)

Nikki O (nikkrs) | 4 comments I thought I saw Peace Like A River recommended under one of the challenge categories, but can't find it now. Where would this book fit in for the 2018 categories? Peace Like a River

charlie (sharshey) | 13 comments Where could I fit All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven?

message 5: by Sara (new)

Sara | 1508 comments Outlander could fit into:
-a book involving time travel (best fit)
-a book set in a country that fascinates you (if you are fascinated by Scotland)
-a book you meant to read in 2017 but didn't get to
-your favorite prompt from previous popsugar challenges (there are quite a few that would work, but 2017's first book in a series is an easy one)
-a book tied to your ancestry (if you have Scottish or English heritage)
-a book recommended by someone else taking the challenge (me, me!)

If you choose to continue the series you can use the other books to fill different prompts as well. Just let us know if you get that far and we can help!

Sara | 1508 comments Charlie wrote: "Where could I fit All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven?"

It would work for:
-a book about death or grief
-a book about mental health
-past goodreads choice award winner (2015)
-a book recommended by someone else taking the challenge (I will recommend this one as well!)

I haven't read Peace Peace Like a River yet, but it would work for a book with song lyrics in the title.

This would also work for a book set in the decade you were born if it's the 1960's. :)

Rachel | 5 comments Hi ! I really want to read "No Country For Old Men" in January but I don't see where it could fit (I don't really know the plot so..). If someone could help me with that, it would be great ! Prompts like the ancestry, birth decade and graduation ones don't fit unfortunately..
Thaaanks

message 12: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 247 comments @Rachel

No Country for Old Men is a movie. Could you watch the movie and then read the book, therefore fitting it into the movie category?

Shelly | 123 comments Melanie wrote: "Where would Drive by Daniel H. Pink fit?"

How about "a book with song lyrics in the title"? Incubus has a song called Drive. Or, I suppose you could use it for "a book about a problem facing society today."

Maybe the one with an animal in the title?

There's some alliteration in the word "firefly", so you could use it for that.

There is also another category I can think of that it would fit into, but, I don't think I want to say yet because it would give you spoilers..

After you read Firefly you could read Fly Away which would then take care of the "next book in a series" category.

Mudbound is coming out as a movie, but I'm not sure of the release date.

I just checked; it's on Netflix. I have Netflix, so... yay! That will totally work. I'll watch the movie, then read the book. Thanks for the suggestion!

Heather (bubblefaerie) | 5 comments Dawn wrote: "Where would How to Hang a Witch by Mather fit?"

I don't think it exactly takes place on Halloween, but during the Halloween season, so that might work. It would definitely fit in the "favorite prompt from 2015, 2016 or 2017 challenge."

Tara, I'm pretty sure Reese Witherspoon recommended Me Before You, so it could fit the celebrity book club category.

Or it could obviously fit "A book you meant to read in 2017 but didn't get to"

Yes! It is mentioned in other books (such as The Thirteenth Tale), so you can use it for that!

There have been oodles of screen adaptations, plays and musicals, and also I recommend it.

I just finished that book yesterday and OMG it was so good! It would also work for the prompt about involving a bookstore or library. It's not a huge part of the book but Louisa does visit the library several times throughout the book.

*It's set in both Nigeria and the USA, so if either of those countries fascinate you, you could use that.
*It talks a little bit about racism in the US and some social issues in UK and Nigeria, so you could use it for "problem facing society."
* I can't find any celebrity book clubs that chose it, but that doesn't mean there aren't any! Check that out more closely.
*You could perhaps decide the cover is ugly! (not really a stretch in my opinion!)
* Maybe it's a book you meant to read in 2017?

message 43: by Megan (new)

It might be a stretch, but you could maybe connect it to the prompt about a real person since the characters are descendants of Cotton Mathers.

It could fit into the villian or antihero prompt.
