I have used that one already.. but thank you Johanne! I do have another question for you, though.. can I use a book that is based on more than one real person for the prompt "a book that is based on a real person" ? A book like The Magdalen Girls?

I would day so, Crumb. As I interpret the prompt the idea is that it's based on real people as opposed to based only on real events, for example. But if it's person or persons plural I think is subordinate. So I would go for it.
Hi! Any ideas as to where I could put American Gods by Neil Gaiman? (Aside from the meant to in 2017 prompt and past year prompts)
Catharina wrote: "Sorry for double ask, but any takers on The Husband's Secret? I found it used in a bookstore, so I haven't read it yet :) Would be nice to be able to fit it in! <3"Since it involves a letter to be read after a person dies, the "Death and Grief" prompt would work.

tough one! It doesn't really lend itself to this year's challenge! you need to be fascinated by Australia or live close to the author so that she's local, or maybe you meant to read this in 2017.

allegory?

Depends on who you think the book is about. The gods aren't very good people. A book about death or grief? Again, it depends on how you interpret the book, but I think grief (or regret) is a central theme for all the characters.
Anyone have ideas for Where'd You Go, Bernadette? I feel like it must have been mentioned in another book or on some celebrity book club at some point, but I don't know for sure.
I already read something for a book about mental health, so that's out.

I'm pretty sure that was a Reese Witherspoon pick - double check to be sure.

Four books I am working on now: any advice?A Wrinkle in Time
Me Before You
Little Women
The Bear and the Nightingale
Looking for places these fit on the list? Thanks!

Wrinkle in Time - time travel
Me Before You - don't know
Little Women - book that is also a stage play or musical or childhood classic you've never read
The Bear and the Nightingale - animal in title [or you could read the sequel for "book published in 2018"]

Thanks, Kristina!
I have a question.. would a book that is a retelling of little women count as a book that is also a stage play or musical or does it have to be the original Little Women? The book I was thinking of reading was The Spring Girls: A Modern-Day Retelling of Little Women by Anna Todd
So I just finished reading Six of Crows (which I’m using as my book with a heist) and now I have to read the sequel! Does anyone know which category(ies) Corrupt Kingdom might fulfill? I was thinking “The next book in a series you started” might fit, but there’s only 2 books so I’m not sure if that counts as a series...
Shannon --- I haven't read it but I would consider it the next book. Also, it could be alliteration. "the occurrence of the same letter **or sound** at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words."

So if you want to read it and that's where it fits, go for it.
That being said, I think that it's probably not STRICTLY a match for that category. So if you are a purist - it looks like it was published in 2018 so it would fit there. 2017 had a prompt with "one of the four seasons in the title" so it could fit in the "previous prompt" category too. And, assuming it fits the original, it might even check off "death and grief".
Thanks Julie! Unfortunately, I’ve already filled the Alliteration category, but I think I will use it for the next book. I just noticed I even got the title wrong (it’s Crooked Kingdom, not Corrupt) I guess that’s the English major in me coming out! Thanks for your help!!
Hi, I was traveling this weekend and finished the book I took with me, so I picked up a copy of Everything You Want Me to Be at a bookstore. I'm only a few chapters in, but I have no clue where to slate this. Any ideas? Thanks!

Nicky wrote: "Hi! Any ideas as to where I could put American Gods by Neil Gaiman? (Aside from the meant to in 2017 prompt and past year prompts)"It depends on what year you graduated! I have it under 'Bestseller from the year you graduated'' which is 2001. Found it on a list I think was recommended in the actually prompt discussion. I know its a long stretch but you never know :-)
willaful wrote: "So, my hold on Practical Magic just came through. Anyone have any idea why I ordered it? :-)"There's apparently a movie, so prompt 1 if you've seen that. Seeing as it's about witches, it seems like a fairly Halloweenish book for prompt 29. Are the main pair of sisters, or their aunts, twins - for prompt 30?
@Chiara; yes, it would fit the death prompt, in its own quirky way (as I believe is always the case with Patrick Ness). It might also fit the cyberpunk, but I'm not sure if it's punk and cyber enough - anyone else read it who can answer that? And I recommend it, so there's that :) Also, his 'A monster calls' is spot on the death and grief prompt, if you want to read that and haven't already.
Re: More Than This - I've read it and wouldn't say it's cyberpunk, although it's slightly Matrix-y and The Matrix is apparently considered cyberpunk, sooo...?Would also very much fit LGBTQIA+ protagonist.
Thanks Johanne and Cendaquenta! I'll definitely borrow A Monster Calls soon! I watched the movie and I loved it :)
I just finished Girl Reading; any ideas what prompt might fit it? I already filled #10 from the advanced list ("a book recommended by someone else taking the Popsugar Challenge") so sadly I can't use that category for this book. :/
Chiara wrote: "Does anyone know where More Than This by Patrick Ness fits? Would it fit the death prompt? Thanks!"Not read it but the first thing that comes to mind is a book with lyrics in the title. More than This by Roxy Music
Hi!I’m excited to see this thread. Someone recommended Station Eleven to me, and I have it on my nightstand to read next, but I can’t figure out which category it would fit in. Thanks for any help!
Funny, I put Station Eleven on my Popsugar TBR shelf too, and can't remember which prompt I was thinking of it for...If the person who recommended it to you loaned you the book, it'd be prompt #17, and if they're taking the Popsugar challenge too, #50. Other than that no idea, sorry!

A book about grief or death (#10)
Did the person recommending the book to you loan or gift it to you? (#17)
Are they doing the Popsugar Challenge as well? (Advanced #10)
Did you mean to read it last year but didn't get to it? (#37)

I read that for Popsugar the year that one of the categories was "number in the title" - so it will definitely work for "previous year's category" but I know that's a bit of a gimme

I'd like an opinion for this prompt "A book with a female author who uses a male pseudonym" There are two books written by Anne Rule.. The I-5 Killer and Lust Killer.. when originally published.. they were published under the pseudonym 'andy stack' and then following the popularity of her book, The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy The Shocking Inside Story, they re-released it under Anne Rule.. can I use either of those two?
Thanks! I’ll have to use it for one of the previous years prompts. It wasn’t loaned to me, unfortunately. Thanks for the help!
Any thoughts on Conversations with Friends? My hold just came through from the library, and I'm not sure where to put it. (Saving "meant to read in 2017" for the book I intended to read for the only prompt I didn't finish last year.)
I just got the notification that my library hold on Kingdom of Sleep is ready but I have no idea why I put it on hold. I've read the first book in the series but already fulfilled the "next book in the series" prompt so I'm a bit clueless. Any ideas?

From the synopsis I read it seems like it might be a fit for
A book set in a country that fascinates you (Ireland) (#7)
or
A book with an LGBTQ+ protagonist (#12)
Is anybody familiar with the book, The Blessings by Elise Juska ? And which prompt it might go with. It was a great book about a family whose last name was Blessing.
Just picked up An American Marriage - part of Oprah's book club. Which prompt would it fulfill besides the celebrity book club one or book published in 2018?

If it's a library book, you could count it as "a book you borrowed or that was given to you as a gift". :)
