18: A book with a location in the title

I also thought to try and re-read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
My choices are a mix of literal places and more abstract places...
I'll be choosing between:
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone
Looking for Alaska
In the Woods
Tinseltown: Murder, Morphine, and Madness at the Dawn of Hollywood
The Girls of Murder City: Fame, Lust, and the Beautiful Killers who Inspired Chicago
St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves

Paris
The Blood of Heroes: The 13-Day Struggle for the Alamo--and the Sacrifice That Forged a Nation
Berlin Noir: March Violets / The Pale Criminal / A German Requiem.
Children's challenge: The Sorcerer of Sainte Felice

If not, Murder on the Orient Express or Call the Midwife: A True Story of the East End in the 1950s
Emily wrote: "It's stretching it a bit but could I do A Court of Wings and Ruin for this?

I think Court could be counted as a location!

I think Court could be counted as a location!

I've heard it's good! Has anyone read it?"

Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery
- Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting?
Absolutely - even though she leaves at times, every scene in this book is set in and around the village of Avonlea

I read Moloka'i last year, it's a fantastic book, I'd 100% recommend it. Be prepared for tears though. I really ought to try and read more by the same author, it was beautifully written.
I'll be reading Looking for Alaska for this prompt - I like that although there's a location in the title, in the story it's a person not a place.

Manhattan Beach
Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting?
Yes, it does. It's not the Manhattan Beach in southern California, but the one in Brooklyn. Manhattan Beach is not in Manhattan! :)

I read Firefly Lane last week.
Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting?
Kind of, the early part of the book takes place on Firefly Lane, but the remainder follows the two best friends who lived there through several decades of their lives.

I loved it. One of my favorite reads last year.

Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting? It starts off in the UK, but Alice refers to Alice Springs, Australia. Not sure if the story actually takes place there. I'll get back to you later on...

I've heard it's good! Has anyone read it?"
Love, love, love this book! Obama recently named it as one of his favorite books from last year. I think it's going to be turned into a mini-series at some point, too.

I’m reading The Paris Wife, by Paula McLain.

Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting?
I believe Paris is one of the backdrops in the novel.

For this I read The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson

It is a place referenced in the book regarding a past event. I can not say more without spoilers. :)

- Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting? Yes

Sophie- I didn’t know there was a sequel! I just picked up a copy of The Princes of Ireland at Goodwill last week. Rutherford is my favorite historical fiction writer.
I am listening to A Gentleman in Moscow. So far I am really enjoying it, especially the humor.
I think some people are considering general locations to be a location (town, city, state, etc.). So it's just how you want to interpret it for this one.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R. Martin since I'm going through ASOIAF withdrawal waiting for TWOW to be released. 8-(
- Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting?
Yep.
Also, this was a very good book and now I need more Dunk & Egg in my life.

Sorry Pam, I'm just seeing your comment now. Yes it is a two-part novel of epic proportion! ;) I also absolutely love Rutherfurd and want to read all of his books!

The Widows of Malabar Hill by Sujata Massey
Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting? Yes, Malabar Hill, is a hillock in southern Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, an upmarket VVIP residential area

I went pretty literal for this because I find it funny: First Grave on the Right
- Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting?
It's forced into the narrative itself in an awkward way, but slightly awkward humour book about death actually kinda nails it.

Claire DeWitt and the City of the Dead by Sara Gran
Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting?
Yes, it refers to New Orleans after Katrina.
My second book for this prompt was The Thirteenth House by Sharon Shinn.

Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting?
Yes it does. This is an island connected to Essex UK, which is the county where I live. This island was flooded in 1953 and many lives were lost. I worked with a woman whose family were rescued from the roof of their home. The book starts with the flood and follows the life of one boy after the flood. It was more of a love story, which I don't usually read, but I did quite enjoy it.

The Semi-Detached House - Emily Eden
Does the location in the title reflect the actual book setting?
Yes, the story revolves around two families, the higher-class Chesters and the merchant class Hopkinsons who share a semi-detached house.
