Will not be promising that I won't run off to the store and come home with something new though, but ideally I'd also like to make a dent in what I already have. Let's be reasonable and aim for 8 shall we.
Here's a list of all the books I have on my shelf right now that I bought before December 31st 2017 (we're just two weeks into the new year and I've already gone shopping...). I'll be crossing off the ones I read.
Acceptance by Jeff VanderMeer — bought on sale in summer 2017
Authority by Jeff VanderMeer — bought on sale in summer 2017
Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith — bought on sale in summer 2017, which forced me to buy the first two books, which I've already read
The Chosen Ones by Steve Sem-Sandberg — Christmas present 2016
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess — picked up at the secondhand store shortly before Christmas 2017
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell — bought for class in August 2016 but then the class was cancelled and I stopped reading, I think I was like 40 pages in?
The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery — Christmas present 2015
Made in America by Bill Bryson — I feel like I've had this forever... at least five years, probably closer to a decade
No One Cares About Crazy People: The Chaos and Heartbreak of Mental Health in America by Ron Powers — stolen off my mum in May 2017, she started reading it but got bored so I declared it mine
The People in the Trees by Hanya Yanagihara — bought in the fall of 2016
Reamde by Neal Stephenson — bought in April/May 2017, started reading it but didn't have the time for it
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari — borrowed from a friend in December 2016, have to return it soon, read part one last September
The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair by Joël Dicker — bought on sale in summer 2016
The Underground Girls of Kabul: The Hidden Lives of Afghan Girls Disguised as Boys by Jenny Nordberg — bought on sale in summer 2016
THE TALLY: 1/8

I will say this... there have been some ebooks that I've been wanting for a while now and they went on sale this week. I'd remembering the rule of not to purchase books until at least 5 books were read and cleared off the shelf. I was so happy that I had already cleared 5 books because I was holding myself to that rule. lol
12/12 books read
✅ A Brewing Storm
✅ A Raging Storm
✅ A Bloody Storm
✅ Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide
✅ John Doe

I have also upped the total number of books for this challenge to 75 (physical and kindle mixed).
Read 7 out of 75

I decided to declutter my books if I owned a copy of a book and so did my public library. With that in mind, I have sorted through and donated 123 books from my shelves in the past 2 weeks. I've moved every book out of my hall shelves and now I have set my sights on my office and bedroom.
