First I will replace 5.10 Born Free. Originally I had Heroes and Heroines: Tlingit-Haida Legend.

I will remove it and replace it with The Fiddler of the Reels and Other Stories by Thomas Hardy. At 96 pp, this will be my one allowed 5-pointer at 80-100 pp.

Then I will add:

5.3 Banished! I read Heroes and Heroines: Tlingit-Haida Legend by Mary Giraudo Beck. The Title as listed on the Goodreads home page is exactly three words long, not counting the subtitle.

10.6 Up for a Challenge Bookriot’s challenge includes a group of short stories by a female author (# 22 on the list: https://bookriot.com/2016/12/15/book-... ) -- I read The Golden Apples by Eudora Welty.

15.10. Trash to Treasure.

Using the “read” list for any of your GR friends, read a book that your friend gave only 1 or 2 stars, but that sounds like a book you might like. This must be a book that you’ve never read before.

Required: Name the friend or mod whose list you used and state that this book is new to you.

If on a Winter's Night a Traveller
rated 1 star by Anne (Booklady) and a new read for me

I gave it 3 stars and was thoroughly committed to the first 2/3 of it but the book was longer than Calvino had ideas to fill it with and fell off in the latter half - so not a treasure but a decent read

Yes, Chef

I hope to expand my cooking repertoire beyond my comfort zone of traditional Southern dishes I was raised on. Integrating new, international flavors and techniques into a traditional foodway was Chef Marcus' mission in his many years as executive chef at the Swedish-traditional restaurant Aquavit.
