I shall remain in, don't worry. Watching bbc news channel, its terrible, hard to get your head around.
Helen wrote: "I shall remain in, don't worry. Watching bbc news channel, its terrible, hard to get your head around."I don't watch the news! Too depressing!
This is why I was oblivious to it. With me being on holiday, I haven't been out since Saturday - too busy reading.
Robert wrote: "Lots of reading though"My shift was cancelled so wide awake so now I will be able to do a bit of reading as I won't be able to sleep!
Liverpool still standing last time I looked out my window - no smoke on the horizon. I just hope that the PM's promised "robust response" from the police allows them to kick seven bells out of the thieving bastards
Helen wrote: "too busy reading."I'm jelous... I haven't got time and head to read now, but I would just escape of this boring World;).
Ian, it is getting all over UK now, so they better do something with it all. Really angry.
All quiet on the Wales front - why do the BBC keep referring to it as UK riots?Nothing happening in Wales/Scotland or Northern Ireland as far as I know.
Anyway keep safe all - stay in and read.
I hope Cardiff stays safe this weekend as my sons are crossing the bridge to see England beat Wales AGAIN at Rugby.
Robert that is fighting talk! Us Welsh are very serious about our rugby! What do you do for work?I can't believe that these riots are happening, it also seems that the public are all for severe punishment whilst cetain bodies are stating 'human rights' 'community policing'.
Poor Manchester was done last night, could here the sirens all night.
I hope that everyone stays safe xx
SOme very ignorant locals on the news. So shameful. On the other hand, lovely community feeling with so many helping to clean.
Helen wrote: "SOme very ignorant locals on the news. So shameful. On the other hand, lovely community feeling with so many helping to clean."Totally agree the community spirit on display in the cities effected has been wonderful.
Interviews with some of the rioters on the radio earlier were laughable - one compared this to the uprisings in Syria!!
BTW not all quiet in Wales - I encountered a riot of angry sheep on my way to Builth Wells earlier. Held me up for nearly 20mins they did :(
Gosh, I hope you were safe Dave!! One man said they have to riot as Polish people have taken the jobs. He was asked how he expected to find a job when half the street had been burnt down! They simply stealing rather than trying to make a point.
Up for 61/2 hours last night in the neuro emergency theatre. Could have been worse as the QMC covers Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and bits of Staffs. Tired but car being MOT'd.
Just thugs We should take a leaf out of the Asian father who lost his son to hit and run very humbling
I am in the police though not riot trained got a bit close on Tuesday

Bob - you have my heartfelt support to do what is necessary to control these idiot thugs

Totally. That asian man was indeed a wonderful person. Our police have been fantastic, lots of people gone down with a few months. Probably won't stay in long but its the principle.
One yoof went through the window of 'Links' and took £700+ worth. Was in court today and asked not to be sent down as his well-to-do parents didn't know he was involved and would be shocked, plus he'd miss starting uni. Sympathetic?
It's a real shame that that the riots have caused the postponement of tomorrow's Tottenham v Everton match. Mind you it has given them the chance to complete the signing of their new Italian striker Robatelli
No Helen....not very sympathetic.I wonder what subject he will be studying at Uni....something to do with social behaviour maybe!
Was supposed to be something about computers. My friend said a 12 year old girl was in court and they had to ring her mother to come to court as she turned up alone.
Helen wrote: "Was supposed to be something about computers. My friend said a 12 year old girl was in court and they had to ring her mother to come to court as she turned up alone."Says it all don't it, some parents don't give a damn what their kids are up to.
The local news have had some belters. Our court started processing the morning after our riot and worked through. The amount of 12 yr olds has been phenominal. The crass idiocy of parents has even made the main news. As much as I love Manchester, I was deeply shamed to live here at that moment.
Ian wrote: "It's a real shame that that the riots have caused the postponement of tomorrow's Tottenham v Everton match. Mind you it has given them the chance to complete the signing of their new Italian strike..."And their other sighning. Italian defender Nick a telly.
Ok....I have to own up....I didn't get the Robatelli pun until Nick posted his....but both very funny, made me laugh.I honestly thought Robatelli must be a footballer....no Yorkie for me today!!
Hope your team wins Ian....I don't hold out much hope for mine.
Ian wrote: "Glad someone got it Nick. A great day - new season starting....come on you Reds"it shows we think a like HEHE!
In random news I went to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes yesterday.I must admit I wasn't expecting that much from it - but it's one of the best films I've seen this year.
A rare Hollywood film that tells a good story enhanced by incredible special effects. Rather than just being a loose plot with lots of explosions.
And someone could just give Andy Serkis his Oscar now please!!
Hoping to see a couple of films today before the start of my long week of shifts. I want to see Rise of the Planet and Harry Potter again if I can.
I've got 4 10 hour shifts to do and then I'm off for 10 days, so much to do if the weather holds out.
I'm hoping to watch HP7 next weekend. One good thing about a popular film like that is the cinemas show it for a while.
Helen wrote: "My thinking too, plus I hate sitting in a crowded cinema. Ideally, I like it to myself!!"Definitely a plus when it's nearly empty. I'm not that tall when sitting down (I'm not that tall when standing up either) so if people sit in front of me I usually have to sit up.
Plus then I can escape kids asking questions in a loud voice and sweet packets rustling too.

Andy Serkis seems to be the "go to" person for motion capture doesn't he? Seems to be an overlooked skill when it comes to awards season though. I'd like to see Planet of the Apes but have sneaking suspicion if I line up a babysitter, my husband will be booking tickets for The Inbetweeners!
