Charlsa (cjbookjunkie) | 64 comments Progress 4/50

1. A book made into a movie you've already seen - Out of Africa / Shadows on the Grass - really glad I chose this book. The movie made this into a love story, but the book is not a love story at all. At least not a love story about people. I loved her descriptions of the people and culture and the topography of the land. - 3 Stars

2. True Crime - The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy The Shocking Inside Story - Wow! I remember Ted Bundy and the murders and the trials and all the press and his execution and the movie starring Mark Hamill. I now realize the movie's depiction of Ted Bundy wasn't even close to the evil person he was. This was a great book. I was engaged from end to end. I have a renewed distrust of strangers... kind of like when we all saw Silence Of The Lambs for the first time. - 5 Stars

3. The next book in a series you started - Pardonable Lies Another great book in the Maisie Dobbs series. This is the best book so far. Maisie Dobbs is working on two cases simultaneously. They end up linked to each other. These stories take place several years after The Great Ware (WWI) and before WWII. They tell the stories of people who are working to reconcile themselves to loss, injury, etc. due to the war and trying to move forward with their lives. Great, great stories. - 5 stars

I don't give 5 stars to books lightly, so I'm thrilled that 2 of my first 3 books in this challenge have earned the rating. I'm off to another year of reading amazing books!

4. The Wanted Elvis Cole, #17; Joe Pike, #6) by Robert Crais - I read one of the Elvis Cole books years and years ago. I read another one last year for last year's prompt for a book that is mentioned in another book and decided to start reading the series. This is the newest book just released this month. I have to go back and read all the other books in the series this year. It is unusual for me to read a series out of order, but this fulfills the prompt for a book that involves a heist, so I'm going to read it and then go back and read the rest in order.

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just finished #19 (about sport) - Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. Once again, I've been sucked into another amazing Maas universe! Her characters are interesting and complex, particularly her main character Celaena. Maas is a wonderful storyteller, in that she doesn't hit you with the particulars of her universe all at one time, but allows the world to unfold naturally through the story. And she doesn't hold back important bits to frustrate the reader. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars
