Leslie | 2430 comments I am sad to say that as much as I was looking forward to Something in the Way Something in the Way (Something in the Way, #1) by Jessica Hawkins I did not like it. 🙁 2**

It was too boring for me and I didnt like characters.

message 153: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Can't win 'em all Leslie.

message 154: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Good news is I get to knock books 2 & 3 off TBR since I dont want to continue series. So, 3 birds 1 stone!!

Nay (4ukcats) Ela wrote: "I finished Deeper by Megan Hart and really liked it BUT yes, there's a but...I felt like the too much sex overshadowed the plot/story..."

See! Back when I read Deeper in 2012 or 2013, whatever, it was during the sexual reawakening of women's reading, so I guess the sex was part of the reason I loved it! Same as what Kooloo said about WIR, kinda.

Kooloo, sorry about my list. Why didn't you just text me? I would've posted it immediately! I didn't realize until after you sent the emails out that I forgot to post a link.

message 157: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I still haven't read my book. Or any other book in December! Gah!!

message 158: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments Renee PM a list of books you want to read like tomorrow - I have to trick to get you started ...

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments My biker ex's twin wants to know what's this about a list...

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments So...I have an idea (dumb? crazy? idk)

You know how we're always pushing others to read our favorites? Whenever it's time to pick, we start shouting, "this one", 'read this one"...

What do ya'll think about a new challenge for 2018? A "Read My Favorite" challenge?

I'm pretty sure I'll only be doing a challenge with you guys. I got overwhelmed with trying to finish all the challenges in 2017.

So what do you think about my idea? --- we would each create a shelf with 10 or 20 of our very favorites. Then, whoever gets our name picked, chooses one of our favorites to read for that month.

Does that sound crazy? Dumb? Idk, let me know. You won't hurt my feelings. LOL

Also, are we continuing this one for 2018 ? Kooloo? Do you want to or should I open a thread? Or do ya'll want to shake things up and do this other one? Or...

message 161: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments I like that idea. I love the challenges, and I notice people join or not depending on how their month is going, so I hope people keep it that way to not get overwhelmed.

Though, the irony if you get someone who you don't own any unread favorites. :P You'll be adding to your TBR. (Though, for a fav, it'd be worth it).

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Yeah, good point. This would be an "add to my tbr" challenge. ha!

But I remember in year's past how much fun it was to read books off everyones' end of year favorites list.

message 163: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I love all the challenge ideas! But there's no way I'm cutting my favorites list to 10 or 20.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments hahahaha Ela!

message 166: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I love the "Read X's Favorites" challenge. I love a way to interact and mark off a book - and even if I don't have it on my list, I will want to read it if it's one of my friends' favorites!!

Jean | 1658 comments Ela wrote: "I love all the challenge ideas! But there's no way I'm cutting my favorites list to 10 or 20."

You sound sarcastic Ela! Blahahahahahahaha!

message 168: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Seriously though, I love the idea of reading others favorites, but I, like Ela, have over 200 on my favorites shelf right now.....I would never be able to narrow it down to 10 or 20!!!! *Love ya Ela!*

message 169: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments At least with 200, we know people might have the book already. :P

message 170: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments That's true Tessa! I'm in for Fabi's challenge!

*high fives Jean*

message 174: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments So Jean posted Darkfever is 99 cents. If you haven't read it, buy it. It'll probably be on almost everyone's list who's read it.

message 180: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments FABI babe I FLOVE the idea too!!!
So are we doing this monthly with our themed challenges or yearly?

message 181: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) I like this idea too. Good one, Fabi. Like you, I struggled to do all my challenge reads this year but I did do SOME of them and knocked a few off my tbr and it's so fun to take part anyway.

message 182: by Grey (new)

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
i vote monthly!!! that way we can rotate through more of us!

message 183: by Kooloo (new)

Kooloo | 596 comments So we would have the monthly Theme challenge,
the monthly Pick4Me challenge and a monthly Pick-My-Fav challenge?

Fabi can you do PMF and I do P4M?

message 184: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) What about PMS? Sorry, couldn't resist.......

message 185: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Ela, I just adore you! I cracked up laughing over you wanting to make me love PNR. 🤣

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Kooloo wrote: "So we would have the monthly Theme challenge,

Sure, I'll do PMF. We can cover for each other when/if needed?

message 188: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Finally getting my December book, Eleventh Grave in Moonlight, read. Since I've listened to 75% of the series, I decided to go that route and as always, I'm loving it.

This entire series has been awesome and Lorelei King is a phenomenal narrator (she also narrates the Mercy Thompson and Stephanie Plum series). I'm 2/3 finished. Will report back with my rating!

I'd be happy to help if you need it!

message 190: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Wait a minute--another challenge? I completely missed this December 20 convo. Is what y'all are talking about similar to what some of us did last year along with Leslie--picking books from our book buddies' 'favorites' shelves (or their 5-star reads if they didn't have a favorites shelf)??

I tried to do it, but since there wasn't an official thread set up, I would forget about it (even now, I have zero idea of how many books I read from my 'Leslie's book buddy challenge' shelf.)

I'm in!!

Yes, this is going to be a REAL thing this year, Nay! Exciting right? The 5 star favorites challenge! Or... I'm not sure what they named it, but that's what I named it a long time ago, haha!

Yay! That's great! Maybe I can actually complete these challenges this year, lol.

I finished Eleventh Grave in Moonlight and give it 5 enthusiastic stars! If you read PnR and you haven't read that series, you HAVE to read it!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Yeah, if ya'll really want to play, let's make it all official and create a thread for it.

I like PMF (Pick My Favorite) for the name. But I also like The 5 Star Favorites Challenge.

Whatever we call it, I want to play.

This challenge will force me to read some of your favorites and I love it. A couple of years ago we did something similar on Maryse's book blog. Nothing official, we just read some of each other's favorites and it was so much fun.

message 194: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments I like FSF just because the PMF is too close to PFM. I know I'd get confused. And the other just looks cleaner. Or 5SF if you really want to be technical. :)
