Yeah, I remember he said that, but he was with Tom everyday, right? Tom was worried the one day when he didn't show up, because Mike was always on time. Like clockwork... So he's working with him all the time.
I think it was meant that he was never late when he was working with him. It was said Mike had crafted the security procedures because it was a high-risk case for Tom. I don't think they have need for protection with every case they are working on.

LOL. Probably while looking for the text passage... ;-)
Now I'm at the beginning of chapter 7, lol!It was a nice dinner and I liked that Tom came out of his shell :)

Yes! :) It will take some time for them to get closer, I'm afraid. Or a certain sniper sees to force them getting closer. ;-)
LOL.... stepping around Etta Mae when she decided to be underfoot. She loved to park herself right beneath the stove when he cooked, as if she was afraid he'd forget her existance.
Maybe Paxton messaged with Etta Mae?

I've caught up with you :)

And yes, he probably has, lol!

LMAO. Where do you get those awesome gifs???
Yeah, I took a small bathroom break while you were behind. LOL.
It's so funny that they both are exactly what the other dreams of and they both think they are out of each others league, lol! Well, maybe it's not exactly like that for Mike yet but at least his dream man has all the qualities Tom posses.

It's 2% to the end of chapter 8, I think I can make it. Well, I hope so... If you hear me snoring, just yell, okay? :)
Simone wrote: "Yeah, talking might help, but Tom has to squeeze himself out of his closet first. ;-) .."Yes, but he's starting to do that and they only started going from co-workers towards a friendship a short while ago. I'm good with their progress so far :)

No, it wouldn't work for me if it would go any faster between them. Tom was far too long in his closet to be overly adventurous.... LOL. But I wouldn't mind a bit getting further, either. I think we are getting there now, though. :)

Yeah, it wouldn't work at all for me if this were rushed. I like that they get to know each other. (view spoiler)

Me too. And yep, if I still can count right at this late hour. LOL.
19% Who is your JSI?And Villegas is one of Mike's fellow JSIs. So it seems they really get assigned randomly to different high-risk cases.
edit: Marshal Winters, Mike's boss, assigns them but it seems like Mike usually works Tom's cases.

My thoughts exactly. You were right! :)
"The guard didn't think it looked fake and he killed the friend. The driver was charged with his murder since any death during the course of a felony can be pinned on all participants."WTH???? What kind of judicial system is that?
Wow, newflash ladies. I went to attempt to post another review something entirely different one that I haven't done anything with and thankfully I posted it here first and made sure I had one correctly saved copy and when I went to post it on Booklikes it didn't post and I got a message saying the site is under maintenance..who's surprised? Not me...I'm just glad that I know I've got them saved here so when they get BL sorted out I'll just have to copy and paste them from here to there so just a few seconds of work...yeah!!!I hope you're both loving this book. I'm going to try really hard in the new year to get this one read and
I got this one in Kansas and I also have his Enemy of the State series to get through.
Simone wrote: ""WTH???? What kind of judicial system is that?.."Uhmmm, it's unusual... At least for us. I'm trying to decide how I think about this.

LOL. Since GR has quite its bugs and reviews disappear here, I'm saving my reviews not on BL, but on my personal blog. LOL.
I like this book, but I have to admit that I liked the Executive Office more. We are still at the very beginning, though, so that can change pretty fast. :)

I don't know if it's true, but I don't think it's fair. Of course he deserves to be convicted, but not with a death sentence for a murder he didn't commit.

That's a pain!!
I've got A Time to Rise as well and we wanted to try a sorta-BR for the Enemy of State series, right?
So far, I'm really enjoying this book!! Sometimes I zone out a bit when there's too much law-talk but otherwise it's good :)

Of course you do. LOL. I would feel the same way. :)

OMG, I'm a poor stalker : Some parts, I know what you're talking about, some others, I had completely forgotten :-(But, eh, Simone, at least, you want further this time : thumbs up !!!
So, what are you thinking about this, so far ? I quite like Tom and Mike and the way their relationship is slowly building up. What about you ??

No worries, I've read the first part as well, and I didn't remember quite a few things, either. LOL.
And I agree with you! :) Although I still think that I would enjoy it even more when it were a bit shorter... There's too much talk sometimes.

Nah, I don't think so. For one, they have a lot of responsibilities (not only protecting the judges) and two, there are three JSIs in DC in total.
(view spoiler)[ They were given the job with allocations for 110 judicial security inspectors, JSIs, and told to put “one to three” in each of the 94 federal judicial districts in the United States. With an average of eighteen judges and fifteen prosecutors—and thousands of jurors each year—in each district, “one to three” inspectors had their work cut out for them.
Investigating and responding to threats, providing security for the judges and the prosecutors inside and outside the courthouse, devising security strategies for high-risk trials, and even, sometimes, providing personal protection for judges under high-threat risk. It was enough to keep him and his fellow JSIs busy for three hundred hours a week. He couldn’t imagine what working alone would be like. He and the other two JSIs in DC didn’t see eye to eye all the time—or ever—but at least they were there, and they had each other’s backs. Like New York and Los Angeles, DC had three JSIs for the entire federal judicial district. Chicago had two. The rest of the ninety federal districts had one. (hide spoiler)]
edit: I think Mike is responsible for the security of all the judges.
