14: 4 books linked by the 4 elements: Book #2 Fire
My two thoughts ( using the actual word "fire" in the title )are:The Fireman
and
Little Fires Everywhere
I guess it will depend on my mood.
Catching Fire: How Cooking Made Us Human sounds good to me! I love archaeology and anthropology as well as food history and customs, so this seems right up my alley.
This was the one element that I didn't have trouble finding a variety of options for!
I'll be choosing between:
Fahrenheit 451 (Setting)
A Clockwork Orange (Cover)
Inkheart (Cover)
Love, in English (Cover)
Rebecca (Setting)
Riders (Cover)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Title)

First choice is Smoke
, which I own. If I use a library book, some choices include Ox-Tales: Fire
or Land of Hidden Fires
.
This one should be easy because I have a lot of “hot” “fire” or “burning” types of books but I think I’ll start with Fire & Flood
I'm going super-obvious totally unimaginative with this one - Catching Fire. I read the first in series this year and was surprised how much I enjoyed it, so definitely had to fit number 2 into the 2018 plan.

Fire is in the title and it was the message by President Trump to Kim Jong-Un.
For this topic I will be reading The Girl in the Flammable Skirt. This is the only book by Aimee Bender that I haven't read. I hope it's as good as her other work!

The word is in the title...BUT, the word is in the title due to the fact they live in a very very hot dystopian world.
I am reading City on Fire for this prompt. I am about 40% done of this long 900+ page book. I think the fire is related to the Fireworks that is family business of one of the main characters, as well as the general feeling of heated tension at that time in1970s NYC among the young anti culture/ counter culture youths. So far the book is really good!
Catching Fire is what I'll be reading for this category, going to read the entire trilogy with this challenge :)
Not gonna lie, the one I chose for this week may be pretty steamy, but I thought I could use a break as I was choosing pretty heavy topics or writing stAgents Under Fireyles.
I found this book searching around on Amazon and as a unlimited member, I usually start there. Fire by L. B. Gilbert
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Strong female characters, supernaturals, action and a bit of love. I even went on to read the next one Air. BOOM two books of the challenge and I liked Air even better.
I was going to read Little Fires Everywhere for this task, but have been warned not to read it while pregnant, so instead I’m going to read Smoke. I own that one already anyway.
I'm reading In a Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson. It's about his travels to Australia, I can't wait to go there! Only 39 days left!!! :D
Sophie wrote: "I'm reading In a Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson. It's about his travels to Australia, I can't wait to go there! Only 39 days left!!! :D"We read that in book club last year and most enjoyed it. As always he can get carried away and drone on and on, but for the most part I learned sooo much. There are a couple of very interesting places he tells about. Enjoy
Catching Fire. My daughter had been keen for me to read the Hunger Games series for a while. I'd just finished The Hunger Gamesso this was the obvious choice for this category.
I did not intend to choose a book with fire in the title for this, but I read Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House and realized it would be silly to NOT count it.
- What are you reading for this category? Heir of Fire- How is it connected to "fire"? Obviously it is in the title but the part II of the book seems to have more on fire. I guess I'll see.
I originally had Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire slated for this slot but I'm doing a buddy read on the Throne of Glass series. I'm hoping to fit Harry in another spot somewhere a little later in the year but not too far off!
- What are you reading for this category?Flame in the Dark by Faith Hunter.
- How is it connected to "fire"?
That's pretty obvious, so I'm not going to explain. :)
I read The Big Burn: Teddy Roosevelt and the Fire That Saved America, which is a narrative nonfiction book about the massive wildfire in the western US in 1910 and how the Forest Service got its start. Very interesting read. 4 Stars.
I've had my choice for this week pretty much locked in from the start. I'm reading Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness, as I've been meaning to read it for a few years now.
I am actually going to read three books for this prompt, maybe even four. The first book I will read is The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin, which has the word fire on the title. I am going to use this prompt to read more about the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire: Triangle: The Fire That Changed America and Flesh & Blood So Cheap: The Triangle Fire and Its Legacy. If I have time this week I will also tackle American Fire: Love, Arson, and Life in a Vanishing Land, a book that has been on my TBR for a while.
I am reading American Fire: Love, Arson, and Life in a Vanishing LandIt has been sitting in my pile- what a great opportunity to actually read it!
- What are you reading for this category?Veil of Fire
- How is it connected to "fire"?
It is based on a real firestorm that occurred in Hinckley MN in 1894.
Jill wrote: "Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness"I've read it! And my friend who borrowed it just gave it back after about a year. Maybe I should reread it!
- What are you reading for this category? The Witch Doesn't Burn in this One
- How is it connected to "fire"?
The book relates to fire due to the title, with the word 'burn'. Throughout the story there are also many references to matches, fires, and burning.
I have read The Burning Forest: Essays on Chinese Culture and Politics by Simon Leys. It was the only one in my tbr collection with reference to fire. Rather old and dated, but the author was a university lecturer of mine, and it reacquainted me with his wit and intelligence.
I chose Daughter of the Siren Queen because there is a boat in the top of the cover that is on fire. Works for me
For this prompt, I read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. Such a good story! To tell you how this is related to the fire prompt would give away a key element of the story.... but it’s there— a flame here, a wisp of smoke there.
If anyone is looking for a good fiction for the 1st person narrator or based on a secret prompts, this would work very well.
Highly recommend.
