If it was ever published and available it needs to stay. Goodreads tries to keep all versions of every book. I think that is great because I know if I owned a copy of the old one, I'd want to have the exact copy on my GR shelf.

This version of my book was a short story. I did a complete rewrite and unpublished the initial book. It is no longer available anywhere else except as a cover on Goodreads that's why I requested for it to be removed. But since the description and everything else remains the same I agree with you that these have to stay. But the old cover has to go because it does not lead anywhere. Rather, it is confusing my readers to see the old cover and then the new cover.
Please. I don't need to have 2 covers for the same book. It is bad for branding. I'm very frustrated. Unfortunately I can't do anything on my own!
