message 6: by Malaraa (new)

Malaraa The Bone Doll's Twin and Down Among the Sticks and Bones are the first 2 off the top of my head.

message 7: by Anna (new)

Anna (annaholla) One is a verse novel about conjoined twins. I was going to read it this year, but may put it off until January.

message 8: by Katie (new)

Katie Turner | 64 comments In the same vein as One, Identical is another verse novel about twins. Might break my own rereading rule for that one.

message 9: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Sterling | 153 comments Any of the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling should work, because they all include twins Fred & George Weasley, as well as a couple that mention Parvati & Padma Patil.

Also, there are always the Bobbsey Twins children's series by Laura Lee Hope, as well as the old Sweet Valley High series by Francine Pascal. Plus, The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield has twins in it. That was one I read this year that was really good.

Here's a listopia with books about twins:

message 10: by Miriam (new)

Miriam | 154 comments The Twins by Dutch writer Tessa de Loo deals with the lives of twins who were separated during World War II, one lives in Germany, one in the Netherlands and they reunite seventy years later.

I haven't read it yet, but it sounds good.

message 11: by Reyna (new)

Reyna | 50 comments I own The Poisonwood Bible and In the Woods so I'm picking from these two.

Christine H | 496 comments Trina wrote: "Rainbow Rowell's Fangirl has a pair of twins."

Oooh, THANK YOU - I was looking for a way to wedge this in!

Although I also have The Secret History sitting here waiting for me, and it has a pair of twins too.

message 14: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (steph4691) any of the mary-kate and ashley books would work plus the shining

message 15: by Ashly (new)

Ashly (ashlyh) I recently put The Other by Thomas Tyron on my TBR. Its a horror classic about twin boys.

The Ice Twins
The Identicals
The Twins

Susan (yetanothersusan) | 47 comments Monkiecat wrote: "I'll Give You the Sun the two main characters are twins, and it goes back and forth from one voice to the other. Your mileage may vary, but I loved this one!"

I second this!!!

message 22: by Mike (new)

Mike | 443 comments I believe Alice in Wonderland would work for this.

message 24: by Anna (new)

Anna (annaholla) Mike wrote: "I believe Alice in Wonderland would work for this."

Tweedledee and Tweedledum don't appear until the sequel, Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There. Though both books are so short that they're often in one volume.

message 42: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 734 comments I think I'm remembering correctly (if not somebody jump in), but doesn't Persuasion have a set of twins? Neither is the main character, but they feature prominently. It's been a while so I might reread that one.

message 43: by Karina (new)

Karina (karinargh) | 3 comments Swedish YA I Miss You, I Miss You! has twin main characters. I've never read the English translation, so can't vouch for that, but I used to love this book. According to wikipedia, it's based on a true story.

Henrietta and Louisa Musgrove are sisters very close in age, but I don't think they're twins.

Mary-jo | 32 comments Kelly wrote: "I know this Much is True by Wally Lamb"

Great Choice!

message 46: by Trina (new)

Trina Dubya (trina_dubya) Regarding The Shining, I think those characters were sisters in the book. It was only in the movie that they were twins.

Drat, you're right. The book explicitly says they're 19 and 20.

Mirror Image by Danielle Steel. I have only read four of her books but LOVED them. So I am excited that I found a category where I can read another one of her books, and this one looks exceptionally good. PLUS my library has a copy! So I will know to check it out in 2018! :)

message 49: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Kiefer | 118 comments Trina wrote: "Regarding The Shining, I think those characters were sisters in the book. It was only in the movie that they were twins."

I believe the actresses in the movie are also only sisters and not twins, too! I read and watched The Shining this year, and that was one of the biggest surprises based on what I knew from pop culture.

Lily (joy1) | 61 comments @10 Nicole wrote: "Here's a listopia with books about twins:

Identical Strangers: A Memoir of Twins Separated and Reunited by Elyse Schein and Paula Bernstein is currently #74 on that list (a large group have that ranking). It is written by two women, adopted by different families, who discovered as adults, not only were they twins, but part of a sociological study. Puts a case study and personal face on the sort of thing many of us today think ethically should not happen. Published in 2007, my f2f book group read it in 2009 to a strong discussion. [See also, Rachel @18.]

(I noticed Ovid's Metamorphoses is on that listopia. I don't remember which set of mythical twins he treats, but it reminded me that "Gemini" is another starter for looking for a twin story.)
