30. A book with characters who are twins
For mystery fans, Blue Monday by Nicci French fits 4 different categories for the challenge including this one, so it's a good "flexible read" choice that you can move around on your list if necessary. It's the first in the Frieda Klein series, about a London psychotherapist. It fits these categories: - Favorite color (Blue)
- Song lyrics (in the Fats Domino song Blue Monday)
- Characters who are twins
- Book by two authors (husband/wife writing team)
I was just given a copy of Sisters First by the Bush Twins, so I will most likely go with that since I already have it. Possibly a stretch.
I was at a loss for this one until I started clearing out my TBR list and realized Please Don't Tell involves twins.
If you're into steampunk, Gail Carriger's Custard Protocol Series has fraternal twins Primrose and Percival Tunstell as major supporting characters. From the author's website about the series: "Rue and her crew of miscreants charge about in their high-tech dirigible trying to fix the British Empire, loudly and mainly with tea. This series explores the ramifications of Gail's Parasolverse, both its technology and how the supernatural evolved differently around the world."The books are:
Prudence
Imprudence
... with more to come in the series.
The Identicals was a cute one but I’ll have to read another since I’ve already read it.The Thirteenth Tale
Sisterland
The Distant Hours
Cutting for Stone
Fangirl
Night Road
In the Woods
The Poisonwood Bible
You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone I actually added this book to my TBR this morning before I decided to do this challenge!
Two of the main characters in Sarah Addison Allen's The Peachkeeper are twins. Great magical realism book set in the South.
Stephanie wrote: "any of the mary-kate and ashley books would work plus the shining"I was given this one for Christmas so I will be reading it as well.
I am bending this a little and going with Three Dark Crowns, which is triplets. I really want to read this and I have a huge TBR pile I am working on.
Later books in the Baby-Sitters Club series feature the twins Abby and Anna, if you want to go for throwback and children's books.
Rachel wrote: "As an identical twin myself and I also recommended this suggestion to PopSugar as a 2018 category, I am super excited to see that it made the list!:On my TBR list:

The Identicals was SO good!!
Chelsea wrote: "Mischling is about twins and is very interesting"Mischling was a very, very interesting book. It still sticks out in my mind and that is always the marking of a good book.
Carolyn wrote: "The Girls is about co joined twins and is a fabulous book"Are you referring to the book by Lori Lansens? I've been wanting to read that forever! Perfect choice for this one.
Kim wrote: "Carolyn wrote: "The Girls is about co joined twins and is a fabulous book"i was just scrolling down to recommend this book. I am tempted to reread it for this book
it is one of my all..."
Soo happy to hear this!
I'm surprised no one's mentioned The Secret History yet. I started it in December and it'll be my first read of the new year.
The Wind Singer is a great MG/YA book. The main character and her brother are twins. Also works for the weather element AND, if you enjoy it, you can read the sequel Slaves of the Mastery to fulfill the prompt of reading the next book in a series!
Three books I read last year featured twins: The Switch - Sandra Brown (genre: mystery with an element of romance). Really good read.
I'll Give You The Sun - Jandy Nelson (genre: young adult). Liked it a lot didn't love it.
The Upside of Unrequited (genre: young adult). Hated it. Such a whiny book. But again, that may be just me.
Hayley wrote: "I'm surprised no one's mentioned The Secret History yet. I started it in December and it'll be my first read of the new year."Ahh, thank you! Have it on my bookshelf and haven't got to it yet :)
Geekerella by Ashley Poston is a Cinderella story where the "ugly stepsisters" are twins. I just read this and loved it.
Spoonbenders has minor characters that are twins. It's a fictional story about a famous family with psychic abilities, told in the first person by various family members with an interesting plot device I don't want to give away. I just read it a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed it.
The Address by Fiona Davis has two sets of twins that are minor characters (one of the twins is a recurring character).
Brooke wrote: "I am currently reading I See You, and there are twins in the story. If you like thrillers, I highly recommend this book."Great choice! I recommend it too!
Megan wrote: "The Bush twins recently released a book about their lives growing up in the white house called Sisters First: Stories from Our Wild and Wonderful Life if you are looking for somethi..."I chose this one! I bought the audiobook recently, but haven't listened to it yet.
Tori wrote: "I'm totally using this an excuse to read The Parent Trap!"You might also like Lottie and Lisa, the German book The Parent Trap was based on. I loved it when I was a kid!
Someone previously mentioned I'll Give You the Sun. It's a great book, and I highly recommend it!Also, Down Among the Sticks and Bones and the book that comes before it in the series Every Heart a Doorway. The twins are much more prominent characters in Down Among the Sticks and Bones, but both are great books (and you should probably read Every Heart a Doorway first, even though I guess it's not technically necessary).
The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender Can anyone who has read this tell me if there are twins?
If anyone wants to read a middle grade book, I have fond memories of Double Act by Jacqueline Wilson.
I read : The Summer of KatyaI'm kind of fond of Trevanian's writing and I think that this one is his masterpiece
Some recommendations that might be a little more off-the-beaten-track:Feed
The Upside of Unrequited
The Dark Circle
The Silmarillion
False Hearts
What's Left of Me
Edit: The Indexing series by Seanan McGuire also features a protagonist who is a twin, though her sibling is only a minor character.
Michelle wrote: "I Know This Much Is True - by Wally Lamb is an incredible story!! One of my all time favorites."One of my all time favorite novels.
Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has twins in it! I just finished it last night, it was so good.
If anyone is into YA Fantasy, the protagonist in The Cruel Prince by Holly Black is a twin. Really good read btw.
Dead Letters looks interesting. "A missing woman leads her twin sister on a twisted scavenger hunt in this clever debut novel of suspense for readers of Luckiest Girl Alive and Reconstructing Amelia."
